This is a brilliant second book in the series - it would be possible to read this as a standalone book but there should be more character context of you had read the first book.
Sylvia, Veronica and Freda are still the best of friends and still at odds with Kathy, who it turns out has terrible family and is not worry when they are bombed.
The hospital in Bath had been dealing with casualties from Bristol but never expected to need to deal with their own casualties of several nights of bombing themselves.
The book is obviously researched and well written - there are several.points where empathy is shown to the lives of the patients and other characters.
As with the first book it could be slow in places but having said that I hope that there will be a follow up book and we will find out more of the lives of The Home Front nurses.

A very thought provoking book

Another great book from Rachel and the second in this series. Kathy, Veronica and Freda are all nurses who work together in difficult circumstances as bombs rain down in Bath. Family situations previous assaults and the horrors of war still affect these young nurses. A good finish but would love to see more from these characters. Thanks to Rachel and her publisher. Thanks also to NetGalley

Book 2 of 2 - Well written and researched story of women during WWII. A very enjoyed story. I enjoyed both books.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

The story begins with a bombs going off in Bath and the hospital is in different parts.

The three friends Freda, Sylvia and Veronica do everything they can to ensure the patients are moved to safer areas.

Freda has her own problems at home and Veronica is becoming more confident, but Sylvia still feels bad about how she treated Jesse and is hoping he is safe.

The story was well written, it was interesting to see how the city being bombed affected those that lived in it in different ways.

I’m looking forward to reading more in this series and what comes next in the lives of the three friends.

I highly recommend this book.

Life is tough in Bath for these three nurses. As the town suffers during heavy bombings, they support each other through their fears and their own problems in this dramatic story. Freda feels that she must concentrate on her nursing and not continue with her journalism career, and distegard her feelings for Richard. Sylvia blames herself for sending her former boyfriend, a black man, to war. Veronica struggles to get over her trauma from a terrible incident.

I’ve been to Bath many times but I didn’t realise that it had such a dreadful time during the war. This book really brings it home to the reader.

This was easy-reading and the girls were all very likeable. I liked the way that they all supported each other.

I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I recommend reading the 1st book in this series before reading this one. I haven't read the 1st book and I feel like I would've enjoyed this more if I had. That said, this is a good book. I am looking forward to reading the next installment. There are enough cliff hangers to keep me interested.

This is the 2nd installment of the Homefront Nurses story. It serves as a stand-alone, but it’s helpful to read the 1st story. This follows three nurse friends Sylvia, Freda, and Veronica who work as nurses in a hospital in Bath during WWII.

I really enjoy the friendship between the 3 girls and how they support each other. They have to deal with their work at the hospital as well as protecting patients while being bombed at the same time. Plus dealing with their families and love interests. It was an interesting perspective being in Bath since I’m less familiar with their difficulties during WWII. It did leave some things unfinished since I believe there will be another sequel shortly. I’m looking forward to the continuation of the nurse's stories.

Thanks to @boldwoodbooks, @rachelsrandomresources, @netgalley and the author for this arc.

Freda is seeking a purpose in life. She's a nurse in Bath, but dreams of a career in journalism. Freda has always done what was expected of her. She is proud of her work for nursing soldiers and victims of war, but she can't help wondering if ther is more to life. Even though journalism is not considered work suitable for women, Freda knows she has to follow her dream.

This book has been descriptively written. It's filled with mixed emotions. It tells us exactly how towns and cities prepared for the attacks from the enemy. How it must have felt in the dangerous situations war brought. I did prefer the first half of the book as that was where the bombing of Bath took place.

I now have a better idea of what it was like for the British subjects during World War 2. I now have a better understanding of what they went through. My respect has grown even more for all of those that experienced the horrors.

Dangerous Days for the Home Front Nurses tells the story of three nurses that have been together since the release of The Home Front Girls. They have matured. They have become more confident. They are dedicated to their patients in Bath and to each other.

I never stopped to think how different cities and towns prepared for attacks. I never thought that some would think they were invincible. The story shows just how dangerous some decision can be for the citizens. Hear the explostions. Breath the powdered concrete. Feel the heat from the fires. Follow the lives of the nurses, their families and the patients.

The series continues and does not disappoint and think this book is even better.

It starts with a bombing raid in Bath and parts of the hospital getting hit. We see how the girls Freda, Sylvia and Veronica cope with it all. They all pull together to help the patients. Veronica seems to be coping and seems to be getting stronger and more confident. Freda has problems at home. Sylvia feels bad about Jesse hoping he is safe.

I really liked the way the book was written and how the bombing affected the different people in the book. The characters all worked well together. There was a bit of romance as well which was good.

I would hope there is another book to find out what happens to the three woman.

Would recommend this book.

The second book in the series and as much as I enjoyed the first book this was so much better, following the lives of the nurses as they navigate their way through nursing in the wartime. A great historical read

Dangerous Days for the Home Front Nurses by Rachel Brimble

I didn't realise this was the 2nd outing for the story about the lives during Ww2 for nurses Freda , Veronica and Sylvia working in a hospital in Bath .
However , I felt I quickly caught up and believe this could ( was ) read as a standalone .
I enjoyed an insight into the lives of nurses during the war and felt the story was well researched on how life, just have been for those having to live through it.

I just finished Dangerous Days for the Home Front Nurses (book 2 of The Home Front Nurses) by Rachel Brimble
Out 14th February.

The story was about the sheer resilience of wartime Britain and Freda, who was seeking her purpose in life.
She was a nurse in Bath, struggling with her mum's expectations of her as a “good girl” while also dreaming of a career in journalism.

I felt so immersed in this book that I read it in one day. It was lovely to read about Freda’s determination to follow her own path and reach her dreams, and I cheered for her throughout. The story was full of duty, friendship, and love, as well as the struggle to follow one's heart at such a tragic and scary time.

If you like historical romance, I'd recommend any of Rachels's books.

Brilliant to catch up with Sylvia Freda and Veronica. This book seamlessly carries on from the last book. The nurses are in the midst of a bad raid in Bath and they are pulled in every direction.
Sylvia is still trying to manage her feelings for Jesse and his mother animosity towards her, but can they keep everyone happy?
Freda is trying to keep everyone happy at home whilst trying to nurse and write articles for the local paper.
Veronica is still reeling from her vicious attack but a stranger in the ward may know more about it than he lets on.
Brilliant series and looking forward to the next instalment to see what the girls get up to on their next adventure.

It showed the wartime element in this book, it had that element that I was looking for and worked well with the concept of this. I thought the characters worked in the setting and was invested in what was going on. Rachel Brimble wrote this well and was glad I read and am excited for more.
