Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this book!

What a cute romcom! I really enjoyed this book and had such a hard time putting it down. I enjoyed the writing style. The characters worked so well together and the plot was great.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book.

One cup of chemistry follows Grayson and Courtney who are two scientists that struggle with a work/life balance which has left them not a lot of time for relationships. While attending a wedding as the maid of honour and best man they find themselves repeatedly drawn to each other and this leads them into a dating "experiment".

This STEM romance had everything I love in it - banter, some spice and a strong FMC. I found the chemistry on the page to be strong and believable, the way they could easily fit together even after spending some weeks apart.

I am a big fan of STEM romances and really appreciated how the author included us in the characters work without making it too complicated. This was a little longer than I usually like and the pacing in the middle was a little slow but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will definitely be continuing the series.

I will post the review to Amazon on release day. Goodreads and Instagram review are already posted.

This book is well written, but it’s not for me. The opening feels like a slice-of-life story, like being on safari, watching the animals in their natural habitat, doing what animals do—but there’s no narrative thread driving the action. DNF.

Rating: 4/5 stars

One Cup of Chemistry by Sheri Tyler is a beautifully crafted novel that merges the rigor of scientific research with the warmth of a blossoming romance. The story follows a scientist who is at the forefront of cancer research, grappling with both the challenges of her professional life and the unexpected emergence of love. Tyler expertly balances the technical aspects of her protagonist’s career with the emotional journey of learning to connect with others.

The protagonist’s character development is one of the book's strengths. At the outset, she is deeply immersed in her work, driven by the desire to make a groundbreaking discovery in the fight against cancer. She’s portrayed as highly intelligent, focused, and somewhat distant in her personal life. However, as the story unfolds, her personal and professional worlds collide, leading to growth that feels natural and rewarding. Through her evolving relationship, the protagonist learns the value of love, vulnerability, and human connection, all while remaining deeply invested in her scientific mission.

The writing is accessible, with Tyler seamlessly incorporating the complexities of cancer research without overwhelming the reader. She takes care to explain the science in layman’s terms, making it possible for readers from all walks of life to engage with the material. At the same time, the emotional depth of the story allows readers to connect with the characters on a personal level, making the scientific backdrop feel more significant. The book does an excellent job of blending the intellectual with the emotional, which is a feat not easily accomplished in fiction.

The romance aspect is woven into the fabric of the story in a way that enhances, rather than detracts from, the central theme of scientific discovery. The relationship evolves gradually, making it feel genuine and not forced. The chemistry between the two characters is palpable, but it never takes center stage in the narrative. Instead, it serves as a means of emotional growth for the protagonist, helping her realize that there’s more to life than research and achievement.

The pacing of the novel is steady, with the plot moving fluidly between moments of scientific discovery and emotional breakthroughs. There’s a good balance of internal dialogue and action, and the writing is poignant without being overly sentimental. The dialogue feels natural, and the characters are well-rounded, with motivations and fears that resonate with the reader. The tension in the novel is not just from the stakes of the protagonist’s research, but also from her personal struggles and emotional growth.

In conclusion, One Cup of Chemistry is a compelling and heartfelt novel that tackles both the intellectual pursuit of scientific discovery and the transformative power of love. Tyler has successfully created a story that will engage readers from a variety of backgrounds, offering both intellectual stimulation and emotional satisfaction. If you’re looking for a book that combines romance and science in a meaningful and well-crafted way, this is a great pick.

Thank you to Netgalley and Sheri Tyler for giving me an advanced digital copy to review.

This was a light read, and had a bit of spice. The banter between the characters was solid, and I enjoyed getting to know Courtney and Grayson. However, some of the storyline/pacing didn't feel authentic to me., It got a bit slow and some of the dialog was about things that didn't draw me into the story further, but made me want to speed up to get back to their connection again.

Overall it was a quick and enjoyable read.

This is a high-powered romance which starts out strong. Gray and Courtney are both high flyers and researching in their labs into cancer.. there is just the right level of information to make this an interesting but not overwhelming part of the plot. It does need a certain digging into though as a central to the nefarious plot to steal Courtney’s research as well as why they keep getting thrown together. There are a lot of characters flung into orbit in the first few chapters of the book, the kickoff is a destination double wedding with siblings, parents friends and both couples needing to be looked at. It took me awhile to get my head round at all and didn’t leave me seamlessly into this romance.. Gray is an interesting male lead as he genuinely seems happy to leave Courtney in the spotlight even though this costs him in his relationship with his father. Courtney is also nursing abandonment issues which are looked at and need addressing for the romance to continue..

Two intelligent scientist, best man and maid of honor, and throw in a destination wedding and sparks will fly! Welcome to the new Destination Wedding series by Sheri Tyler.

We jump into this novel with new main characters but we get the double wedding of Mara and Ford from Slow Simmer and Sonya and Max from Here’s the Scoop plus a few glances of Lianna and Kincaid from From Bitter to Sweet. All of them from Tyler’s Coming Home Trilogy. In this new series, we are introduced to Kincaid’s sister, Courtney, and Mara’s brother, Grayson. They are two cancer researchers working at different institutions looking for the same thing. A cure.

I went into this novel with only one expectation, the science part would be over my head. In the end, it wasn’t. I ended up enjoying that side immensely. Courtney and Grayson are two extremely intelligent people with intricate feelings. Both have their own set of problems, Grayson’s career pressure from his father and Courtney’s trust issues due to her father’s abandonment. While they do have crazy chemistry, the will they/won’t they vibe is thick in the beginning. Once they play a few interesting games of chess, the will they question is answered.

Once back home and thrust into day to day life, Courtney and Grayson slip into each other’s lives with a flourish. While they make room for each other, they also make decisions on their work/life balance. Grayson is drawn back into his love of music by picking up playing the piano again while Courtney makes an effort to bake something every weekend. I love that Tyler exposed all aspects of these characters lives. While their waking hours were full of work, hobbies, family, friends, and love, the pair was able to bring forth versions of themselves they never knew they could be. Some novels don’t delve into huge character development, but Tyler’s isn’t one of them. The way Tyler wrote Courtney and Grayson’s story in such a way that they were able to truly go through a metamorphosis was astonishing.

This is my first read from Sheri Tyler, but I will absolutely reading more from her. There are two other novels planned in this series, Say Cheese and Kebabs and Kisses. I can’t wait for more from this world Tyler has created.

I received One Cup of Chemistry for free. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I really enjoyed this book! It was perfect with so much sweetness and it had so many parts that were more of a slow burn. It was a great read especially for those who like slow burn style books.

DNF @ 10%

Unfortunately this writing style and I do not match. There’s a lot of telling (and not showing) and the pacing drags. I’ll admit to only having got 10% through, but neither of the main characters pulled me in.

This book is for you if you like low drama, cozy feels, and day-in-the life romance. If you want to read about people who already know they like each other, already are perfect for each other, and you want to know all the details of their dating stages, you’ll enjoy One Cup of Chemistry.

For me, the plot fell flat. The first 25% the two main characters were internally swooning over each other, however they came up with reasons why attempting a relationship would not work. At one point the MMC friend-zoned the FMC, taking it back only a short time later when they decide to just go for it. There are all sorts of possible plot lines swirling around them, family drama, work stresses, etc. and we get a little taste of mystery when there’s a data breach at the FMC’s place of work, however the clues pop up just briefly before we’re back into every day relationship building, family drama, etc, etc.

I can see that the author tried to build tension and create a book that wasn’t just boy meets girl, but it didn’t feel real. Even the struggles they had during their relationship were quickly fixed and at no point was I at all even concerned about broken hears or sleepless nights. While they’re not things I would want in a real relationship, it’s what I need in a book to keep me engaged and turning the pages. This one just didn’t have it.

One Cup of Chemistry had a cute storyline. The banter between Grayson and Courtney was cute at times, but it did get to be a bit much. It felt like there were so many different things happening in their lives, while simultaneously nothing happened. If some of the dialog and repetitive parts are pared back, it could be a really good book.

It's a sweet romance with steamy spice, and the characters are charming. While it was a lot of fun reading Courtney and Grayson's story, I didn't find myself pulled into the story as much as I'd hoped. It's definitely more wordy than the romances I'm used to, which wasn't a terrible thing, but the pacing dragged a little too much. I found the dialog would actually start to slow parts of the book down because it would be dialog about things I didn't really care to know. I think it's a great idea and plot. I loved the characters. If it were just a little more tightened and sped up on some parts of the book, it would be perfect. Overall, I enjoyed reading about Courtney and Grayson falling in love. The writing is wonderful besides the pacing. Everything about a great love story is there. A lot of cute moments.

So I am halfway done with the book and let me tell you it did not disappoint! The bantering 10/10, the thrill 10/10, the writing 10/10. So glad that this is my first book for 2025. I would have read it through on the first night but I needed to pace myself. I said I was going to read a chapter a day and well... I lied. So far, it's a solid 5/5.
