Max Middleton broke my heart a bit. His back story and the reason for his escape to the coast was presented in such gripping terms that I felt real empathy for his situation. To then experience with him the mystery which forms the basis for this novel is especially engaging. It’s a great mystery and I found myself caught out by a twist or two, which is always very satisfying as a frequent reader of this genre.

A dramatic murder mystery with twists and turns that keep you guessing to the end. The characters were vivid and I loved the seaside setting. There was a bit of repetition and drawn out "we're waiting for the postmortem" and a bit overfussy main character that detracted from the overall well-written story.

I adored this book as much for the mystery as for the descriptions of a coast I love so much.
There's a suprise part way through that I didn't see coming at all, not even when I thought I was on top of the clues!
It's a good murder mystery which at first I thought was just a really sad man needing something to obsess over. I was gripped and asking questions all the way through.

Are you a murder mystery lover? If so, check out All That Lives Must Die by Ivor Eisenstadt was a good book.

this was a pretty good book! it had a lot of suspicious parts, we don't know what is the truth and it kept you reading on and on to see what would happen. It was a good story, had some sad parts and some funny enjoyable moments
Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!
