The story follows Otogi Katsura and Toki Ninomae, who are both on the student council. Turns out they both discover they have a hidden side to them. Both of the main characters designs are beautiful! I found myself laughing while Otogi's monologues about herself. The book has the perfect beats of comedy and the little bits of romance that's sure to bloom in feature volumes. I'm rooting for these two!

I'm no stranger to this set up. It's good to see another public face/ private face romcom ala Horimiya or Kare Kano (with a pinch of Kaguya-sama for good measure). While it falls into some similar pits, what helps it stand out is both romantic leads have masks, and when they slip they like each other more. It's a cute twist and worked well to keep my attention. If this is your jam, go for it! It's fun!

Absolutely loved it and I can't wait for everyone to finally read it. The hype is absolutely justified in my humble opinion. The art is gorgeous and the main characters have such interesting personalities from the get go. I'm really rooting for Ikkoku and Katsura and can't wait to see how the story develops further 🫶🏻 *eagerly waiting for my preordered physical copy to arrive*

A story of a class president and vice president that are forced to hide their true selves from the rest of the world. When they discover each others "otherside" a friendship and possible romance begins to blossom. Perfect for fans of manga like Maid-Sama.

That was amazing!

Very good romance manga with incredible art and well-written characters.
This story follows Otogi Katsura - class president and beautiful sweet angel of a girl....well at least that's how her classmates see her - and Toki Ninomae - class vice president, second angel of the school, almost too perfect to be real.

In an encounter with a few drunk men, Otogi slips her mask and shows her true self - brash and straight forward girl to Toki. He finds this side of her to be fascinating and, in turn, shows his true self to her.

This reveal has more effect on Otogi than she would like to admit. And feelings start to bloom.

This was such a good read, I can't wait to read the next volume (and reread this one)!

"Fall In Love, You False Angels, Vol." 1 by Coco Uzuki is an absolute gem! The main characters are utterly charming, with quirks and "dark" sides that make them stand out in the best way. The story is funny, entertaining, and full of surprises, blending its humor and eccentricity with just the right amount of cuteness. The dynamic between the leads is delightful, and I’m already hooked, eager to see where their journey takes them. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a quirky and heartwarming manga!

Fall in love, you false angels is a sweet, hilarious and heartwarming manga that follows the themes of shared secrets and hidden personalities.

We follow class president Otogi Katsura who is titled as madonna of her school. She is beautiful and sweet, everyone loves her. However it is just a face that she puts on, the impression that makes her likeable. On the reality side, she is brash, straightforward and doesn't shy away from the bullies if ever encountered. Her vice presidential counterpart, the equally beautiful and seemingly perfect Toki Ninomae comes across the real Otogi when a group of boys tries to get all handsy.

Turns out, Toki is quite fond of her new side, because apparently he has another side too. The always calm and composed Otogi begins to fall for him too. Having their secret hidden from others forges a stronger and cute connection between them.

Could this partner in crime begin to bloom into something more?

I loved this manga. It was a palette cleanser and I absolutely devoured it. The protagonists are highly likeable and I especially loved chapter 4 and 5. The story is engaging and the artwork is fantastic. It totally took me by surprise as I am obsessed with both of them. I cannot wait to read volume two.

It's a definite recommendation for the rom-com manga readers.

Otogi, who is scheming and determined, has decided to create a persona for herself as the perfect, beautiful girl: always polite and kind, always gorgeous. She's called the "heartthrob angel", for the way boys fall in love with her at first sight. But then she meets Toki. He's also new at school, beautiful and kind, and everyone's besotted with him. A chance encounter reveals that he, like her, is a lot tougher and rougher under the surface than he appears. Could Otogi be starting to catch feelings?

I don't read a lot of manga, but what I have read, I've enjoyed (e.g. Spy x Family and Library Wars). So I thought I'd try this one because I liked the cute cover, and it was available to read straight away on NetGalley, which I'm trying out.

I very much enjoyed Coco Uzuki's charming art style, especially all the expressive eyes and beautiful swirly hair, and the premise of two 'perfect' students who are really hiding tougher inner selves is intriguing.

However, I think a lot of questions were left unanswered, even considering that this is just the first volume of a series. For example, why are Otogi and Toki so determined to hide behind their perfect personas? Even if we can't know that yet for Toki, I think that, as the narrative is from Otogi's perspective, we could benefit from some earlier hints about her motivation. I'd also like to know more about Otogi so I can feel invested in her—without that, it's hard to care about her romantic choices. Also, I didn't find the 'tough' inner selves of either character particularly tough, steely or ruthless, which would have given the narrative more punch.

I loved the book
I thought the beginning, the first chapter, was a bit rushed, but I loved seeing the characters throughout the volume and the story.
They reveal themselves to each other and they are so funny. You can see the little gestures and attention they give each other, it is so loving and cute.
The characters are fantastic and you can already see the evolution and change in them by the end of the volume. I want to read the next volume so much!!!!
The drawings are fantastic, the expression on the characters and the way they convey their feelings to the reader, is absolutely on point.
I loved it. I am already waiting for the second volume!!!

This story explores the theme of authenticity, following two people who spend most of their lives showing others only what they think they want to see. But one day, they reveal their true selves to each other, sparking a connection that grows even stronger.

It's a heartfelt tale of two individuals who, often hiding who they are, finally find someone with whom they can truly be themselves. Their bond feels genuine and refreshing, making this story both relatable and deeply engaging.

The art is fantastic, perfectly capturing the emotions and chemistry between the characters. I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for an early release copy of Fall In Love, You False Angels volume one by Coco Uzuki.

Fall in love, you false angels is an enjoyable book however this reads as a average high school romance manga, the characters are essentially “I’m not like other girls/guys” with the split personalities. I honestly didn’t mind it much though, the characters are enjoyable to read and the art style is cute however I don’t think I’m fully invested in this romance yet. I feel that I don’t know these characters enough to really route for them, the scenes we do get with them are okay but I wanted something a little more cuter romance wise instead of this instant lovey romance. I would like to see more from Toki on how he genuine feels about all this, I hope in future volumes we get a bit of a flipped perspective between the two characters. I’d like to see how Toki feels about falling in love with Otogi. Depending on what the next volume is about I may or may not continue this series.

Otogi and Toki are class president and vice president, respectively. To everyone in their school they're perfect in every way. Outside of school, they both share the fact that they're complete opposites to their in school personas. They find out each other's secret by chance which begins their unlikely friendship and fondness of each other.

This manga is peak shojo. The art style is perfect, so beautifully drawn. The characters are interesting and multifaceted. And the plot is new and fresh.

I will absolutely continue reading this as it's released. This couple has completely sparked my interest and I can't wait to see what happens. Couldn't recommend this more to fans of shojo and romance.

A very cute and hilarious story. The MC’s have tension and every interaction made me want more. 5/5 stars just for the ending interaction of who is cooler. If you love little romance mangas - this is a definite read!

I started my anime/manga journey with shoujo and despite having seen many other genres, shoujo still has a soft spot in my heart. The nostalgia this manga gives me of the many classic shoujos and especially my first ever anime 'kaichou wa maid sama', I loved it.

The characters are well-written, not annoying and despite the ML rejecting the FL initially, he was super respectful to her. I actually enjoyed that alot.

Honestly, I'm pretty excited for more volumes of this manga.

It seems everyone has a hidden side to them in romance manga lately... Horimiya, The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't A Guy at All, upcoming Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent... Fall in Love You False Angels capitalizes on this trend in a way that unfortunately leaves me a little jaded on it as a trope.

I'll lead with some positives. The art is fantastic, with soft, elegant features to all the characters and a unique style. The color inserts as well as the cover pop with their perfect pastel hues and makes me long for a full color version, but the expert use of screentones gave such texture and dimension to the art that I enjoyed the black and white sections just as much.

Storywise, there is plenty of development in the first volume, with the leads spectacularly failing to keep up their polite personas in front of each other, and bonding over their similarities. With the power of their more abrasive sides, they take down a predatory teacher at their school in no short order and form a mutual attraction.

My biggest issues started with longing for more detailed character writing. We are told from the first page that Otogi has carefully crafted a persona based around what she thinks others will like - polite, soft-spoken, and elegant - yet, the circumstances that led to this concealment are left completely undisclosed. Secretly, she is arrogant and brash, unafraid to speak her mind. But, if she is truly as arrogant as she is, why bother being humble, let alone concealing it? As the main character and the star of the story, I would expect at least the beginnings of a psychological profile in this first volume, but I was left wanting for a greater understanding of Otogi.

Around his friends, our male lead Ikkou also behaves in a way that is drastically different from his school personality, going from vice president of the student council to delinquent, complete with a secret undercut and piercings. As the love interest, I would expect any in-depth character study (and no doubt dark and mysterious past) to be delayed for a few volumes, but I was underwhelmed when his longtime friends were introduced with not even a hint as to why Ikkou also chooses to hide his not-so-polite side and live a lie.

Underlying all this is a theme that I find worthwhile to explore: authenticity can be painful and uncomfortable, but is the most powerful tool that we have to fight social injustice. However, this message clashes with our leads' choice to keep their authentic selves sealed, especially because we don't get a thorough understanding of why they feel the need to be "false angels" in the first place.

And with issues as important as sexual harassment and exploitation at stake, why bother to conceal the truth at all? Why beat around the bush? Lightly insinuating they know what the teacher did, then hatching a honeypot scheme feels entirely ridiculous when this could have very easily led the teacher to retaliate against his victims.

All this to say, with hidden identity stories I really need to feel a compelling reason when characters are behaving so drastically and incongruously with who they really are. Unfortunately, it felt like at least in this first volume I was left grasping for an understanding of the characters and given little more than sketches of who they are as people. This very well might change in the following volumes, but it just failed to hook me in this first one.

Thank you to Kodansha Comics for my ARC provided through Netgalley.

so i'm an old school shoujo manga fan. i don't know kaguyama-sama: love is war, but my era of shoujo manga were classics like Wolf Girl and Black Prince and Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama. this manga really triggered some heavy nostalgia for me and reminded me of those wonderful innocent high school love stories.

i think volume 1 has been a somewhat slower start than i would have expected, but the introductions of the ML's childhood friend and the twins have gotten me intrigued. and the interactions between the main characters are so light-hearted and adorable. overall, this was such a pleasant, low-stakes story. and of course, the art is fantastic and makes this a lovely read. i recommend to anyone who wants a very classic high school shoujo manga story. i think future volumes show a lot of promise based off volume 1's start.

Lovers of shoujo, rejoice! False Angels delivers all the romantic comedy tropes that fans of the genre adore. The manga introduces us to Otogi Katsura, the "perfect" class president with a radiant smile and flawless demeanor that make her the school’s Madonna. But behind closed doors, Otogi reveals her sharp-tongued, calculating true self—a secret she’s desperate to keep hidden. Enter Toki, the equally adored school heartthrob, who uncovers her secret only to reveal that he’s hiding a similar side of his own. The two forge an unlikely partnership, vowing to maintain their public facades while hilariously navigating their growing attraction.

While False Angels doesn’t aim to reinvent shoujo, it excels in delivering a delightful blend of lightheartedness, absurdity, and emotional authenticity. The dynamic between Otogi and Toki is entertaining, with their sharp banter and mutual scheming keeping the story lively. At the same time, the manga doesn’t shy away from making the characters relatable, giving readers reasons to truly root for them.

Whether you’re here for the comedy, the budding romance, or the perfectly executed dramatic moments, False Angels strikes the right balance and leaves you wanting more. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates a good romantic comedy with characters you can’t help but feel for.

“i finally found someone i can be myself with.”

this was a short and sweet manga that i definitely enjoyed! the art style in this manga was beautiful, seriously it was gorgeously drawn. plot: both the female lead and male lead have an "angel" personality around others but they actually have a hidden/dark side that they only showed to each other. i was really hoping to learn more about why they put on this personality instead of being who they really are, but unfortunately we didn't get that. anyways this manga series has a lot of potential and i look forward to reading the next volume to see how their story develops!
