Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for my arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

I remember hearing about this manga a while ago when it first released in Japan and I hoped that it would get an official English translation and here we are! The art is gorgeous and the story is so silly: two seemingly perfect angels are not who you think and to keep their angelic images at school, they form a friendship that results in some "kiss kiss fall in love" action. This is such a sweet, funny, and cute read. It's been a while since a manga has made me giggle and feel like a high school girl again. I'm excited for the rest of this series!

If you want something lighthearted, funny, and romantic with a dash of drama, I would definitely recommend this!

I enjoyed the graphics and the compelling story line. I am confused who the love interest is and why the undercut is a big deal. I don’t think I’m the target audience for this manga.

Fall in Love, You False Angels follows two seemingly perfect high schoolers and class vice presidents, Katsura Otogi and Toki Ninomae, who both hide a 'darker' side from everyone around them; however, after a chance encounter with a group of unpleasant boys at a train station, they end up revealing their 'darker' sides to one another.

What initially drew me in was the gorgeous art style. The cover of this book is truly stunning, and I love the character designs for our two main characters and the beautiful colours on the cover as well, as I love the whimsicality of Otogi's pink hair and the ethereal beauty of Toki with his lovely hair and eyes. This carries through with the story, and I love the changes within the outfits and hairstyles for our two main characters that help give them personality and differentiate between their 'perfect' and 'darker' personas. I also loved that the side characters and even the random background characters had different designs such as diverse hair styles and different designs for their school uniforms, making the story seem much more lively and realistic.

Overall, the storyline is interesting, but it has a bit of an awkward beginning as the setup for the story is that both of the main characters have 'false' personas that they upkeep while at school, with both of them pretending to be as perfect as can be. This makes them both seem rather conceited at first, but once they both permit themselves to let down those personas, the story improves as we see more vulnerability between the characters. I think this theme of the characters acting as 'false angles' is really intriguing, and I am interested to see how the author explores this theme in later instalments as I can sympathize with both Otogi and Toki's intense people-pleasing ways as someone who is Neurodivergent. I think this topic is crucial for the current younger generations as many young people experience intense pressures around school and are experiencing burnout and mental illness-related issues due to these pressures at an increasing rate. This story has the perfect setup to explore these issues in a complex and nuanced manner in a story appropriate for younger readers. Additionally, while this first volume is relatively short, and we don't get to see much of the two characters romance-wise, I did enjoy the moments we got and am interested to see how their relationship develops. Especially how their relationship allows them to drop the 'perect' personas, they feel they must maintain in front of others.

Overall, Fall in Love, You False Angels Volume One is a charming and intriguing first installment in a romance manga series that has the potential to explore a lot of interesting and important topics that affect young readers in an innovative and approachable manner.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for the Arc!

I absolutely loved this book! The characters and the plot was absolutely fluffy. The two characters are hiding their true identities from their classmates and during a dispute with some guys, the FemMc reveals her true nature, along with the Male MC. The story follows them learning more about themselves and interacting as both sides.

Overall cute fluffy read of two characters finding comfort with each other and being themselves. I cant wait for the next volume!

I thought this manga was cute. It was a little boring at times but overall I enjoyed it. I’m really hoping that vol 2 will pick up a bit more now that we know more about the main characters!

Wow I actually really liked this manga, it held my attention the whole time! It's a really fresh idea. I like that I still like the protagonists despite them very clearly being two faced.

I haven't read manga in a while - this was utterly delightful.

The premise is that the two main characters both pretend to be unattainable, perfect versions of themselves in school, while simultaneously hiding a not-so-perfect person underneath. I loved both of them, they are so cute! Will definitely read Vol 2.

This shoujo manga follows two high school students who are the heartthrobs and angelic sweethearts of their school class discovering that they both might have a bad side as well. This manga is charming and a fast read, with two lovable leads who slowly start to come together throughout this first volume. It definitely reminded my of Horimiya, so it would be good for fans of that manga. An enjoyable read all around! I recommend it.

Class president Otogi Katsura is known as the “heartthrob angel” with her picture perfect behaviour and appearance. Little do people know there is another side to her personality, and that soon she's going to slip up in front of her vice president Toki Ninomae who also hides part of himself.

"What if he also has another side to him?"

The premise of Fall in Love, You False Angels is so interesting. A duo of two-faced people falling in love? Sign me up! However I feel like my expectations weren't quite met. The 'dark personality' these two have is more akin to Horimiya's Miyamura than Yakuza Fiancé's Kirishima. Which makes the switch in personality not that drastic, especially because we are privvy to Otogi's inner monologue.

However there is something charming about this manga. Our characters are very charismatic and their chemistry is electric. With time this story can develop into something memorable. The art style is also quite unique for a shoujo manga. It combines the classic shoujo style with a gritty, angular aesthetic for a more refined Chainsaw Man look.

"I kinda like being the only one who knows that version of you."

I would recommend Fall in Love, You False Angels to fans of classic shoujo tales with a fresh twist. It focuses mostly on the romance with some comedy here and there. This manga would be a good fit for fans of Horimiya and Ouran High School Host Club.

I’ve seen the cover of this title so many times but didn’t hear many talking about it. So happy it’s getting published by Kodansha.

We get two characters who showcase different personalities in private. I liked that they found out about each other in volume one and we get to see their interactions and to see the “real them”.

I’m really curious to see where the story will take us. Obviously, they’re going to fall in love but I also hope they’re able to cultivate a friend group in school that they can be themselves with. It sounds tiring having to be “on” all the time. Almost as if you’re doing customer service for hours on end.

Thank you to Kodansha for the DRC! I will for sure be continuing this series.

I devoured this manga! I started for the art style and stayed for the main characters. They're so cute!

I had a feeling I was going to really enjoy this, and I was right! This is a cute start to a new series following two high school students as we watch them fall in love. I like our two main characters; while I don't think their "secret" sides are super unique, I like that they can be more themselves around each other instead of their perfect school personas. I think while this volume sets up a good dynamic and introduction to our two main characters, we don't get enough of any side characters, so I hope this will be fixed in future volumes.

I'm highly looking forward to future volumes and hope this gets popular enough to be turned into an anime!

A huge thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Coco Uzuki for providing me with an ARC of Fall in Love, You False Angels, Vol.1 in exchange for my honest review.

Fall in Love, You False Angels, Vol. 1 is an entertaining rom-com manga that introduces readers to two seemingly perfect students, whose flawless exteriors conceal their true, darker personalities. The story takes a delightful turn as these characters, each accustomed to hiding their authentic selves from the world, discover someone who shares their hidden side. This premise creates a rich dynamic, filled with humor, awkward moments, and surprising vulnerability.

Coco Uzuki expertly balances comedy and character development, crafting a narrative that is as engaging as it is amusing. The banter between the protagonists is playful, capturing the push-and-pull of their budding relationship. As their true personalities clash and complement each other, readers are treated to a story that feels fresh and unpredictable.

The art style is another highlight of this manga. Uzuki’s illustrations are vibrant and expressive, perfectly suited to the comedic tone of the story. The characters’ exaggerated reactions and the detailed backgrounds enhance the humor and emotion, making each panel a joy to read.

While this volume sets the stage for the protagonists’ relationship and the world they inhabit, it also leaves readers eager to see how their story will unfold in future installments. The blend of romance, humor, and a touch of mischief made this an enjoyable read and I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment.

Thank you Netgallery for the ACR!

Two perfect co-president students reveal they both share a hidden dark side of themselves. They can now both hang out without fear of not being themselves.

I loved the art styles of this book, really cute and well drawn. I liked the two main characters and their distinctive personalities.
It did feel a little bit long a times, the plot didn’t really advance in this first book. I’m hoping it will pick up in the next one.

The dialogue in this felt too polite and not current for teenagers. For example, one of the teenagers referred Ikkoku as a « dream boat ». Nobody uses that term as a teen.

I’m looking forward for the next book

I always love a manga romcom. Our two main characters are the perfect high schoolers , cutesy, demure and mindful. At least they are in school. However, after our FMC Katsura reveals her true self by accident, she learns she's not the only one with an alter ego. This plot flips the tough guy with a soft side trope on its head and brought a fresh take on a well loved theme. This manga reminds me of the intro to Maid-Sama and I'm looking forward to reading more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for this ARC!

Both our main characters have a secret here..they’re hiding a “dark” personality behind their squeaky clean and beautiful personas at school. Personally I didn’t find their personalities too dark just more how a regular person would talk but…Japanese politeness is in play here I think.

I really liked the art work - especially some of the panels with blocky bold writing. Some really great facial expression work as well.

I’ll definitely check out volume 2.
