"Fall in Love, You False Angels" follows high schoolers Otogi Katsura and Toki Ninomae who are their school's 'angels'--known to be perfect, beautiful, kind in all ways, and at the top of their class. The premise is that these two "angels" have another "darker" side to them they hide from the world, and come to find out that they're both hiding the same brash, sometimes aggressive sides, propelling them to become close (and will jumpstart their romance down the line, of course). It is kind of silly, though, because their "other" sides aren't bad people; they're just less nice about everything, telling harrassers to back off, and in Toki's case he dresses more edgy with an undercut and piercings while he's not at school.

It is a fun high school shojo manga, which I always appreciate, and the art is STUNNING! I love, love it. I will definitely continue reading the series!!

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for this advanced reading copy of the first volume of Fall In Love, You False Angels!

Our two main protagonists for this story are the first year student council president and vice presidents Otogi Katsura and Toki Ninomae. They're the picture-perfect students who are universally adored by their classmates for their kindness and good-looks. But more than meets the eye with their other sides that are more rough and less approachable. When Ninomae reveals his hidden self after some punks harass Katsura, it makes her crush on him grow from mere infatuation to a heart-racing crush! It seems as though Ninomae also has a interest in Kastura's own hidden brashness as well due to him praising how she told off the guys despite her hesitation to show that side in front of him.

This was a pretty good start to this series as it lays down a solid foundation and how are characters are for the plot. Seems like Katsura and Ninomae will be using their powers of intimidation for good and standing up for those who can't protect themselves so I'll be looking forward to seeing how this goes on. I'm also looking forwards to delving more into the characters themselves along with the potential of romance between Katsura and Ninomae.

Coco Uzuki presents an intriguing story about two students with completely different personalities. The art style reminds me of classic shojo manga, with soft colors that create a warm and beautiful atmosphere. I quickly grew attached to the characters, especially Toki and Otogi, as well as Otogi's friends. The dynamic between the main characters is engaging, and the developing romance makes me eager to read the next volume (◍•ᴗ•◍)

I wanted to pick up Fall in Love, You False Angels, because I recently picked up Hoteri Hotette First Kiss by the same author and really enjoyed it. Fall in Love follows Otogi and Toki, two very beautiful people who hide who they are on the inside to present a false, perfect image to the people around them. When they inadvertently reveal themselves to be putting on airs, they must navigate a deepening relationship as they maintain their personas at school.

Fall in Love, You False Angels really reminds me of Kare Kano with its premise, rather than Horimiya or Kiss Me at the Stroke of Midnight like the publishers are advertising. I enjoyed the first volume, but I kind of want to see the main characters let loose a bit. Right now there's not even really any reason for them to be hiding their personalities and the plot feels a little empty for it. The manga really shines with its art, as did Hoteri Hotette First Kiss, so I'll keep reading this as it comes out.

“Honestly though i think, you’re already pretty cool as it is, Katsura-San.”

I tried so hard to get into it, but i found it really hard. Still, i think if i read the other Volumes, i might enjoy this way more. What i can say, though is that the art style was just beautiful.

Follow the story of two picture-perfect classmates, class president Otogi-san and vice president Toki-san. Both are hiding their secret sides, and when barriers fall, sparks fly. Playful, fast paced, and a perfect example of what makes slice of life manga fun.

“𝘪 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩.”

this is a cute and sweet start to a new shoujo manga series. the main characters are both angels, with our female main character being considered a rare beauty. they both have a "dark" or "hidden" side and two-faced personalities that they only reveal to each other, even though they are genuinely sweet. throughout the story, they do not tolerate rude or abusive behavior of others, and their paths cross repeatedly while taking action on that. feelings for each other begin to grow. i somewhat enjoyed this read and found the artwork to be unique, cute and gorgeous. there were several cute moments between the two love interests, and i really liked the male main character's brother as a side character. i was hoping to learn more about why the main characters put on these personalities instead of being their true selves, but, that wasn't shown much, but i hope it will in the other volumes in this series. although i enjoyed the manga, i wasn't really drawn to the story itself and the characters didn't initially captivate me as much as i had hoped yet. it just wasn't really for me for some reason. but maybe it will grow on me when reading other volumes? who knows. overall, this series has a lot of potential, and i look forward to reading the next volumes to see how their story develops and if my feelings will change.

i think you'll like this and should read this if you think you'd enjoy:
୨୧ first volume in a new shoujo manga series.
୨୧ hidden identities (light/dark).
୨୧ the protagonists falling in love fast (she falls first. not really insta-love, but also not a slow-burn).
୨୧ beautiful unique artstyle.
୨୧ cute, sweet, swoon worthy, and funny moments throughout the story.
୨୧ ''could this be love?''.
୨୧ high school setting.
୨୧ tension.

trigger warning:
୨୧ there's some content of sexual intentions between a teacher and a student. it does not last long and is shut down, but just in case, i wanted to mention it.

thank you to netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the digital arc in exchange for an honest review!

So this may be a cultural thing, or a translation thing, but I wasn’t really seeing the MC's 2 sides being so drastically different as they were making them out to be. (A little bit over dramatic about the whole situation, especially the FMC.)

Otherwise, the art was nice, and the potential romance has me invested in the characters.

I haven't read much manga so I'm not fully sure about how to best rate it but the art style was pretty. The plot was light and cute but I also expected each character to have a much darker side to them than just these little rebellious sides. I definitely want to pick up Vol 2 when it comes out because I'm invested in their story now!

I didn't love this. Half the time I wasn't even sure what was happening. The artwork was beautiful though!

Honestly, this is one the cutest manga stories I have read lately. I love the idea behind the characters and it’s so fun to so who they really are beneath their perfect exteriors. Getting to be you true self around someone is so important and I love that our main characters are able to find that in each other. The story is cute, the art is great, and I would love to continue reading this story to see where it goes!

The premise of this manga slightly inflates what really is going on. I started reading expecting someone like Koshi Torako from My Deer Friend Nokotan, who hides her past—maybe violent, obviously mean. But no, Otogi Katsura secretly just stands up for herself. I wanted to get that clear for everyone who is considering picking up this manga, so you don’t feel underwhelmed in that aspect, because this manga is simply perfect.

Tell you what, Fall In Love, You False Angels, Vol. 1 is my first favourite book of the year. It didn’t get 5 stars, it got a Heart, and that in my rating language, means perfection. The best.

One of the major highlights is the beautiful graphics—they make it so easy to fall in love with every page. The character design for each of them is simply perfect

I read beyond Volume 1, and it only gets better. The storytelling feels so fresh—Coco Uzuki takes some of the usual shōjo manga routes but delivers them much faster, without feeling rushed. Things that typically take five to eight volumes happen early, and it’s such a delightful surprise. It only adds to how fun this manga is. I can’t wait for more.

There’s a rumour about an anime adaptation, and I hope it’s true. For now, I’ll be desperately waiting for the next volumes to be released.

DNF after Episode 1 aka 27.5%

The artstyle is so pretty and I nearly continued just for that. But the storyline itself was just not for me, It felt very stereotypical.

The banter between the main character is extremely cute and it was easy to like them right away. I loved how they only showed the darker side of themselves around each other.

From its title Fall in Love, You False Angels 1, I expected the manga to have a darker story—something with mafia, bad guys, or a similar vibe. However, it's actually not like that but I am not disappointed.

This manga follows a female and male lead who appear angelic, acting graceful, kind, and perfect, yet each harbors a hidden side they don't show to the world. It's a fun and engaging read, and I'm excited to see how the story unfolds in future volumes. I'm especially looking forward to seeing how these two students learn to embrace their true selves and realize that letting their other sides show can actually be helpful at times.

The artwork is amazing! The main leads are so pretty and handsome!

My rating is 4/5 stars. This is just on me, but I just don't like that the fmc was so obvious of his adoration to the mmc.

I received an advanced readers copy of this manga. Thank you very much Kodansha Comics and NetGalley!

This manga was so refreshingly cute! I absolutely loved the main characters — Otogi gave me Hermione vibes in the best way. All of her panels showing the arrow cracked me up every time. Not to mention the “sneeze” made me absolutely howl with laughter. I’m hooked after one volume — can’t wait to read the rest and see this romance unfold!

Hello Fellow Readers,

Fall in Love, You False Angels is about two 'perfect' high schoolers who have been pretending to be cute & innocent but actually have a bit of a wilder side to them. This mostly means they are not as sweet and perfect as their schoolmates like to think and will calculate, swear, and have a temper. Both Otogi and Toki have adopted personas at school, which leads them to be the envy of their classmates but one slips up and they both show their true selves to each other. They start to get close because they are the only two people at school who know how the other actually is. This is a cute story and I really enjoyed it, this does have the potential to lead into some funny high jinks, so I can't wait to see where Uzuki takes the story.

This was a great start to a series that puts a little spin on the classic class angel is actually not all that angelic trope. This book was fun and very light hearted. I flew through this first and I can't wait for volume 2.

This a was super cute and a fun read! I think there's a bit lost in translation, as the more informal/vulgar forms of Japanese have a weight to them that this translation doesn't. Katsura could come across as more vulgar to hit home that "badass" quality (Momo from DanDaDan is a great example of that handled well). I also think "madonna" doesn't quite land the same for today's audience as it could. It means a perfect or virtuous woman, sure, but I feel like a different word choice would work better.

All in all, a fun setup, reminiscent of Horimiya (cute girl + secretly punk guy). Can't wait for the next one!

I loved the comadarie between both characters as they hide their true selves at school but , slowly alllowing themselves to be truly themselves with one another. Loved how the male lead backstory is slowly unraveling and excited to see how thr relationship dynamic plays out in the story.
