'Fall In Love, You False Angels' follows two characters, Otogi Katsura and Toki Ninomae. They are portayed as sweet and extremely well-liked people, but they secrectly have a "dark" side (or occasionally referenced as their "real" selves). This "dark" side is extremely surface level and provides no internal conflict on why they hide this "side" of themselves or how it effects them emotionally/socially. Both characters, particularly Otogi Katsura, are extremely egotisitcal which made it hard to connect to their characters and root for the romance that kind of develops. On top of this, the two characters are essentially copies of each other, which is stated in the book, offering no change in perspective or depth of character.
The story overall has no interesting plot with no conflict the characters have to overcome. It is just a surface level romance.
Thank you to Kodansha Comics and Netgalley for the advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

✨ Fall In Love, You False Angels is an absolute delight of a manga! ✨
At first glance, you’d think Otogi Katsura, the “heartthrob angel” class president, is all sweetness and light—but oh, how wrong you’d be! Behind those angelic looks is a fiery, brash girl who’s ready to put any jerk in their place. 🙌
And then there’s Toki Ninomae, the vice president who’s the epitome of politeness, always calm and collected… or so it seems. Little does everyone know, Toki’s got a secret side that's as spicy as Otogi’s, and the chemistry between these two is chef’s kiss. 😏
When Otogi goes full sass mode at the train station, she has no idea she’s about to unlock the most adorable partnership ever. Toki’s got a side that’s just as mischievous as hers, and their bond grows as they agree to keep their true selves hidden from their classmates. (A little secret between the two of them? Yes, please!)
The dynamic between these two is so much fun! It’s all about finding that person who sees the real you, quirks and all. Their banter, the tension, the hidden sides—it's like a cute little rollercoaster of heartwarming moments and cheeky surprises. 💖
If you love a story about two characters who aren’t quite what they seem, with a dash of humor, a sprinkle of secret romance, and tons of heart, this manga will definitely steal your heart. Grab your copy—because these two are the perfect blend of sugar, spice, and everything nice! 🍬✨

This book was a fast-paced quick read, and the illustrations were truly its saving grace. They were detailed and expressed the emotions of the characters beautifully in a way that the writing just didn’t live up to.
I didn’t feel like there was much of a story here. The premise of the book is that these two high-schoolers have a mysterious dark side that no one else knows about, but that dark side turns out to be just telling someone to back off one time in a pretty normal way. I wish they would have gone further with that characterization.
The wording was oftentimes confusing and hard to follow, I’m not sure if this is because of meanings getting lost in translation, but it made it difficult to get invested in the story.
Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I'll review it in more detail soon, but considering how "standard" the premise is, I had a LOT of fun reading it! Accidentally discovering a side to your crush or them discovering about you (or both, as is the case here) is a staple in shojo and romance manga for a reason. The art style being utterly gorgeous definitely works in this series' favor and I'm certainly looking forward to the continuation!
Can't go without mentioning how great the lettering in this volume. There was especially one font, I don't know if it existed before or was created for this series but, I was enamored! Call me a typesetting nerd, but I just love looking at beautiful fonts. Appreciate the love & care that goes into each and every Kodansha title.

As soon as I saw the cover to this novel I was instantly drawn in. The title is brilliant, the illustrations are beautiful. I've never come across this author before and now I'm very excited to see what happens next for these characters.
A fun, lighthearted quick read that I enjoyed.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in echange for an honest review.
I haven’t read a mange in a long time and it was a nice change to look at the drawings more than the words.
The story has a charm to it and I think anyone that likes fantasy/romance manga will like this. With a fluffy plot intolving two characters that are hiding their true identiities from their classmates. It’s a school set start of a series that has beautiful artwork.

A simple shojo with a beautiful, no, gorgeous art style. The characters feel distant, but I hope with time they will be revealed. The premise of them looking perfect but being actually wicked is interesting, but they are far from wicked. They’re just teenagers. This may be a loss in translation, since teenagers in America are allowed to be rebellious in language or hair style but still be perceived as well behaved or be class president.
The art style would bring me back for more, but the story needs to up the drama.

2 stars
This first volume was cute and the art style / character design is really beautiful, however, the plot was kind of too simple and empty in my opinion. Fall in Love, You False Angels is about a girl and a guy who both pretend to be ‘angelic’ but have a completely different personality outside of school. They find out each other’s secret and become closer.
I don’t really understand why they lead double lives and aren’t just true to themselves. I think if they focused on that aspect, the story could have been more profound and the characters more relatable. It was kind of just nothing. I likely will not be continuing the series unfortunately.
Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this manga! I liked the dynamic between Katsura-san and Ninomae-san. It gave me a bit of a Horimiya vibe, in both of the series the main characters both have a side that they don't share with anyone else but each other. When it comes to the romance aspect of it, I found myself kicking my feet and giggling at some moments; I enjoyed the way I could feel myself start to blush at the same time as Katsura-san. The humor was also very much my style and I can't wait to see where the story leads from here. I definitely would recommend this book to my other friends who enjoy romance manga, and cannot wait for this to be officially released.

This was a quick, sweet read with an interesting, likeable main couple. Both Otogi and Toki wear social 'masks' of the perfect boy/girl, but both are genuinely likeable, normal teens underneath. Their interactions are cute and fun. The volume introduced two interesting side characters I'd like to know more about. All in all a sweet, high school romance perfect for a spring/summer vacation read

Artwork in this is stunning and the plot is fun. Pretty girl with not so pretty real personalty falls in love with pretty boy with also not so pretty real personalty. But will he fall for her back? :p The volume does a good job at establishing the base world and how they interaction with each other and classmates. I have a few people I'll be recommending this to :)

This is like a mix of Kaguya-Sama Love is War and retaliation against the harassment of others. If you're a fan of romance manga and have read everything else, I might suggest this to you. I thought it was kind of basic and nothing was really memorable.

Coco Uzuki’s Fall In Love, You False Angels, Vol. 1 is a delightful blend of humor, romance, and clever character dynamics, perfect for fans of classic rom-com manga like Kare Kano and Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. With a refreshing take on "two-faced" personalities, this story balances lighthearted comedy with moments of emotional depth, setting the stage for what promises to be a memorable series.
The story follows Otogi Katsura, a seemingly angelic class president hiding a calculating and sharp-tongued true self, and Toki Ninomae, her equally "perfect" counterpart with a hidden tough side. Their accidental discovery of each other’s real personalities sparks a battle of wits and sparks of attraction, all while they maintain their polished public facades.
The characters shine through their banter, which is sharp, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt. Otogi’s over-the-top conceit and clueless moments make her relatable, while Toki’s calm and collected demeanor hides a playful edge. Their chemistry is electric, and watching their "masks" slip as they engage in their personal war of hearts is endlessly entertaining.
Uzuki’s art is a standout feature, particularly in the beautifully detailed character expressions that enhance the humor and emotional beats. The opening colored pages are especially striking and set the tone for the vibrant storytelling ahead.
While the cultural nuances might not resonate fully with all readers, they add a layer of authenticity that fans of Japanese manga will appreciate. The plot moves at a steady pace, offering just enough to hook readers without feeling rushed.
Overall, Fall In Love, You False Angels is a strong debut volume that promises plenty of laughs, romantic tension, and endearing character development. A must-read for rom-com manga enthusiasts and anyone looking for a clever, feel-good story!

I went into this book expecting a dark, gripping narrative that would challenge the conventional dynamics of a relationship, but what I got was far from that. The story tries to sell the idea of morally complex characters, but instead, it gives us two leads who seem problematic for the sake of it without any real depth.
The female protagonist's claim that she and the MMC are "two-faced" felt like an empty statement. Her supposed complexity comes off as her just being selectively rude, while the MMC’s actions cross into outright unacceptable territory—how is that compelling or redeemable?
Yes, the male lead is described as attractive and charismatic, but good looks can’t mask the glaring issues with his character. The narrative doesn’t do enough to address or explore these flaws in a meaningful way, which made the relationship dynamics feel shallow and uncomfortable.
On the bright side, the illustrations were stunning and added a lot of aesthetic value, but beautiful artwork can only do so much when the characters and plot fall flat.
In the end, this book left me disappointed and wishing for a story with more substance and nuance. Therefore only 1 aka 0 ⭐️.

Fantastic, give me fifteen more.
But seriously I was loving every moment of this. The MMC was so cute and the fmc was soooo relatable.
The mmc is the definition of gent in the streets - in the sheets.
I need this as an anime stat.

This is a cute first volume for a rom-com manga. I am a sucker for "alter-egos" and I love that the two "angels" of the school both have a secret dark side. I look forward to reading the next volume!

Thank you, NetGalley and Kodansha, for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This manga follows Otogi Katsura and Toki Ninomae, who both seem perfect in every way, only to accidentally reveal to each other that they have different sides.
It was a cute story and a strong start for a first volume. It made me giggle and smile, and the banter was chef's kiss, leaving you wanting more. The artwork, especially the colored section on the first page, is stunning. I would definitely continue reading the series to see what happens next.
![](https://netgalley-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/4ecf14a1ed/images/profile-placeholder-micro.png)
Otogi Katsura and Toki Ninomae both radiate perfection from their looks, to their personalities, to their roles at school. However, each feels as though they are wearing a mask and cannot reveal who they truly are to the outside world. The more time they spend together though, the more their masks begin to slip and Otogi and Toki realize that they might be perfect for each other both in their fabricated lives and in their real lives.
This is a cute little melodrama rom-com with likable characters. Most of the narration is provided through Otogi's point of view, and she is adorably conceited and clueless. Her interactions with Toki are interesting. I think there may be some cultural translations that might not land completely with western audiences. Honestly, I didn't see how Otogi standing up for herself would reveal that she is not a perfect sweetheart, but that might be my own lack of understanding regarding East Asian traditions and expectations.
Overall, this is a cute series starter that I can see becoming popular among younger readers.

This was pretty cute and has an enjoyable art style. I liked the two main characters’ different personalities. It definitely leaves you hanging a bit at the end so I am really curious and want to read volume 2. You never really know what Ikkoku is thinking and feeling, so I wish we could get his POV in the future, I think it would be so interesting. I would give this a 3.5/5 but have rounded up since half stars aren’t possible.
Thank you to the author/artist and publisher for the ARC I received.
