Thank you Mercedes Paradiso for the ARC read!
This book was beautifully written and the line drawings between the poems really brought the book together. I feel like whilst this collection of poems were amazing, it wasn't a collection of poems meant for me as most of the poems failed to resonate with me. I personally believe that maybe later down the line in my life, this collection will have more of an impact on me whereas right now, I haven't really experienced enough, if at all, to truly understand what the poems are about.

I've read this book through NetGalley
it's okay, not amazing.
I enjoyed reading it through a few days between my normal book.
I liked the drawings in between.
I just didn't really feel connected to most of the poems.
Thank you for the copy!

The poetry within the book is similar to that of Lang Leav’s except with less prose. It was fun to read and parts of it, especially the ones that talked about stories, really touched me. I found that there were a number of poems that flowed well yet others felt a bit forced to rhyme so overall my rating is 3/5.

Thank you to Netgalley for the arc to review.
Loved the unique way that she used the title as the poem to serve as the proxy author of each poem. The division between Thunder section and Daisy section was powerful and some poems spoke DIRECTLY to me. Although there isn’t a ton that sets her collection apart from other popular instagram poets, I would read her again and be interested in reading how her style translates to novel form.

I loved this collection of poetry. There’s just something about the way the author writes and phrases words that makes you feel seen and heard. It takes you on a journey through loving and healing and sadness and hurt and all the other feelings. I always think great poetry is poetry that makes you think and dig deep and that’s exactly what this collection did for me.

Absolutely beautiful. I loved the art work that was connect within the poetry and my favourite poem was “about the author”

A touching collection of poetry on relationships and love and heartbreak. The emotion behind each poem was evident. The poems explore themes like resiliency and connection. The transformative power of deep emotion.
The inclusion of simple line drawings on theme with various poems was a welcome edition. A tender and poignant compilation of poetic works.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author Mercedes Paradiso for the opportunuty to read this book..
When I saw this cover on NetGalley I was really intrigued. I have enjoyed poetry in the past so I was really happy to get approved for this book. I really liked how it was divided into two sections where I expected to find an overall common theme in the poems, but that wasn't really the case. some of the poems were really nice but most of them didn't resonate with me. I think this book could be a really good present for people who haven't read poetry before and I do hope the author keeps working on more poetry. and who knows, maybe a future collection will resonante more with me.

I loved this book! One of my favourite poetry books I have read. Each poem was so well written and I loved the added detail of having a picture after each poem that connects to the poem. Beautiful books- love the name and cover too. I highly recommend anyone who loves poetry to read.

This collection feels raw and authentic in the best way. The poems are open and grounded, shaped by a quiet kind of vulnerability that sticks. They explore struggle, heartache, and the everyday pain of being human with language that feels approachable and deeply felt.
There is clarity in the metaphors, often drawn from nature and everyday life. They’re simple without being simplistic, making them easy to connect with. The free verse style flows effortlessly, like someone thinking on the page, which adds to the emotional impact.
As the collection progresses, it feels like it moves through different stages of reckoning, healing, and change. There’s a sense of rising from adversity, finding strength, and stepping into something more self-assured. You feel the shift. It echoes the call to keep going, to listen inward, and to claim space.
The structure reads as intentional. The poems feel well-placed and thoughtfully arranged, which gives the collection quiet momentum. The line art woven throughout adds a soft, final touch that complements the tone without overwhelming it.
This collection seeps in. It’s emotionally resonant without demanding attention, quietly powerful, and beautifully composed.
I appreciate NetGalley and Mercedes Paradiso for the opportunity to read and review this book!

I do love how it’s divided into sections, but some pieces felt a bit repetitive to me and the drawings (while a great way to support the pieces) were so generic they took away from the personal journey of the book. Would be a good collection to gift someone who likes the modern Instagram generation of poetry!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Mercedes Paradiso for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately this book wasn’t my type of poetry. Not a single poem stopped me and made me reread it. A lot of them felt like the angst poetry in write back in high school. The metaphors were pretty standard. The rhyme schemes were a bit childish and usually took me out of the experience rather than adding to it. The line drawn by a were a nice touch but this just isn’t one I connected with at all.

I don't really know how to write a review for a poetry collection like this one. I just like reading them and they always make me feel a certain way, and they make me learn a lot about myself and about others, so i usually give the impression about my feelings as i was reading them. And with Thunder and Daisy was no different. I really liked it how the poet described her feelings and her views of the world and about love. It really ressonated with me and made me reflect in a deeper level, which is a wonderful thing. I hope i can read more poetry of hers in the future!

I loved this poetry collection! The story told both through and between each poem was beautiful yet tragic. The language used and the simple yet so effective structure was so admirable and easy to read despite the grappling with complex topics of relationships, self love and mental health. Additionally the illustrations framing some of the gorgeous poems were so beautifully done and really finalised the collection. The structure portraying both hurt and then healing was so refreshing and led to a lovely conclusion. Overall I really enjoyed reading the carefully crafted poems featured in this collections and their gorgeous illustrations!

Beautifully written.
Thought provoking collection of well worded raw thoughts and emotions that we can all resonate with and a gentle reminder that we all imperfect humans.

Based on the description and title, I was expecting more nature-based, eco poetry - and though the collection begins that way, it quickly veers into cities, social media, and cell phones. Many felt more like songs, which isn't inherently bad. (Poetry classically rhymes.) However, my personal taste leans away from rhyming poetry. Thematically, the poems were more like an exploration of infatuation (perhaps even limerence) rather than love (since many of the poems are reconciling with not truly knowing the person due to that person keeping them at a distance). There are a handful of memorable one liners. ("I don't know you / But I know I loved you / In another life") I liked the illustrations. Recommended for young heartbreak, esepcially those who've experienced limerance.

Thunder and Daisy by Mercedes paradiso took my breath away. It left me staring into the darkness just wondering.

This was such a beautiful book of poetry and I felt every word of it. The way the author was able to make me feel all of the emotions is truly amazing.
The poems were very relatable because they dealt with heartbreak and healing. I think so many others can relate to these feelings and I highly recommend this book to anyone dealing with these emotions.

I’m a big fan of R.H. Sin and Rupi Kaur and I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone who is also a fan.
A beautiful collection of poems that spoke to my soul in ways I don’t even know how to. The cadence and flow of some verses had me very surprised this was the author’s debut. Magical use of language that painted powerfully beautiful visuals in my head at some points and then heartbreaking ones at others. The illustrations were cute.
Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me the ARC for this book.
An absolutely stunning poetry collection split into two parts.
Thunder left me aching, the heartbreak and loss so relatable. And Daisy was beautiful to read and left me a little tearful a couple of times.
Seeing the progress through the poetry, like reading a story, you're so happy by the end of the book that the author as obviously found something so much better, both within herself and with someone else. It's the kind of self-love journey everyone deserves to have after being hurt so badly.
Excited to read more from this author and will absolutely be buying a physical copy!
