As a long time F1 fan I am always on the lookout for F1 books that blend both the history of the sport and the present. They focus on circuits here really shows you how much the sport has changed over the years but also how much has stayed the same circuit wise. The photographs included throughout really do show you the changes that have taken place whilst also spotlighting the historic nature of some of these tracks and the work that has gone in to preserving them.
A great coffee table book for an avid F1 fan.
As a long time fan of Formula 1 and a mom to a son who is a true enthusiast I greatly enjoyed this book. Some of the tracks I was not familiar with others I have seen often. My son and I went through the book together and we both especially loved the pictures of the track configuration. Many of the sections generated much conversation and even additional searches on youtube so that we could see what driving on the circuits would be like. I did spend a great deal of time on the chapter about the circuit where Senna lost his life. I did not realize that there had been other accidents and 1 other fatality that weekend.
If you are a fan of Formula 1 you will definitely enjoy this look at the many different circuits. I absolutely would purchase this book for some of the many Formula 1 fans in my family.
Formula One The Circuits: Then & Now gives a great overview on F1 tracks past and present. It is rather text dense, but also has a lot of images, including track lay out. It explains why tracks no longer in use ended up that way, some being logistical, while others were tragic. It was interesting to also get perspective on how cars and racing have changed over the years. I imagine this would be a great coffee table book for the F1 fans in your life.

This was such a neat book to stumble upon and one I'd love to add to my collection. The story telling was well written and the photographs chosen were really neat. I'm excited to flip through this with my sons when we watch races this season! Perfect for any F1 fan, motor racing fan, or history fan.
I’m a newer F1 fan so when I saw this book, it caught my attention and interest immediately! I loved looking through the photos and learning about the history of the different circuits across the world. I would definitely purchase a copy of this for the racing and history lovers in my life!
Thank you to Quarto Pub, Frank, and NetGalley for the advance digital copy.
Amazing look back into the rich history of F1 circuits. Maybe more suitable for older fans or history buffs, rather than the younger crowd who might have discovered F1 more recently. Pictures are beautiful, and the text is very insightful.
**Formula One: The Circuits Then & Now** takes you on a fascinating ride through the evolution of iconic Grand Prix tracks. By pairing vintage and modern images, it shows how F1 has grown from the high-risk, no-frills races of the 1950s to today’s sophisticated, safety-focused sport.
You’ll revisit legendary tracks like Monaco, where straw bales once guarded the harbor, and Monza, with its deadly concrete banking now replaced by safer chicanes. The book dives into historic circuits like the Nürburgring’s "Green Hell" and Pescara’s winding hill roads while also covering American favorites like Long Beach and Watkins Glen.
This is a must-read for fans who love F1’s history and want to see how far the sport has come over the decades.
