“We’re going to die while these dummies are trying to figure out which comic book character they want to be,”

Daughters of Legianne by H.S. Sullivan (@themothermermaid)

QUICK RUNDOWN 🖊️
A multigenerational family saga entwined with secrets, lies and magic.

FINAL THOUGHTS 💭
Okay, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel at first with this one. But the more I got into the book the deeper the claws of this book dove into me. The magical world, the complex relationships and the entire story keeps you wanting more right until the bitter end … and then some.

Daughters of Legianne by H.S. Sullivan
Realms of Covens #1

Complex, well-written, immersive debut novel that is first in the Realms of Covens trilogy creates worlds, provides intriguing characters, and see good triumph over evil…at least at the end of this book.

What I Liked:
* Róisín: strong, caring, magic wielder, multi-talented, good friend, must face a challenge and has to win to make sure the humans and witches will survive
* Caid: carpenter and fix-it man, loving brother, protective, falls for Róisín, learns his skills may be greater than he realized
* The relationship that develops between Caid and Róisín and thinking about what will come next
* Lina: Caid’s sister, happily married to Thomas, pregnant, Róisín’s friend, open-minded, political
* David: rabbit, shapeshifter, emissary of the Goddess, able to speak, intriguing
* The supporting characters and the parts they played
* That not everybody came through unscathed – though there is one person I hope is not really dead
* Being able to thoroughly dislike the bad guys and wish evil upon them
* The plot, pacing, setting-world building, and writing
* Thinking about what might come next

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant to dislike
* Thinking about how evil some of the characters were and how willing they were to sacrifice others for their own benefit

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? I think so

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the ARC – This is my honest review.

this was a strong start to the Realms of Covens series, it had that opening chapter feel that I was looking for and was engaged with what was happening. It uses the genre perfectly and was glad the overall flow worked. HS Sullivan has a strong writing style and was glad I was able to read this. I'm excited to read more in this world and from the characters.

4.5 Stars

What an interesting twist on witches and the paranormal world. This is new to me author. Róisín is trying to keep her head down and try not to draw attention to the fact she is a witch. There is bad witchy vibes happening and the witch council send he to investigate.

Kincaid has worked and lived in his small town his whole life. Róisín knocks him off his feet. He wants to be by her, care for her, love her. That means she needs to be truthful with him. His world is going to get a whole lot bigger!

This book has it all: Sibling bonds, found family, fated mates, platonic soul mates, best friends, action, magic. 4.5 stars simply because it's to be continued. Waiting is hard!
