Another great story in a good series. When Kitty and her husband are asked to look into a murder of a prominent businessman and his daughter who was attacked, they set off for the Cornish Coast. Lots of red herrings and interesting characters lead them off into many directions. Liked this one, and would highly recommend this book and series. Fun read.

After being seriously injured in an attack that left her father dead, Lady Cordelia Hedges turns to Kitty and Matt Bryant's detective agency to help her find out what happened. Suffering flashbacks and, more worryingly, further attacks on her life, Lady Cordelia insists on them accompanying her to the scene of the crime at the family's home in the small Cornish fishing village of St Mawes. Unfortunately, it seems, someone is equally determined to ensure the case remains unsolved, placing both the Bryants and their client in ever increasing danger!

In book nineteen of the Miss Underhay Mystery Series the author is definitely channelling her inner Agatha! It is a brilliant story with all the red herrings, twists and turns you would expect from both authors. There is also a second case bubbling away in the background which I am looking forward to getting more involved with in book twenty.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Bookouture, but the opinions expressed are my own. This is a brilliantly satisfying read which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Kitty and Matt go down to Cornwall to help Lady Cordelia, who is friends with Kitty’s cousin Lucy. Having been injured in an attack that left her father dead, Cordelia is worried that someone is now trying to kill her as her memories of the night begin to return…

This is a good series for those who like a cosy historical mystery with the good guys prevailing. As it’s in Cornwall this time, there’s only a passing mention of Grams and Mrs C at the start, before Kitty and Matt head off to Cornwall with Bertie the dog (who may have a future role as a police dog after this book!). All the bits you usually like about this series are here again (albeit not the local characters), and Matt thankfully seems to have cured himself of addressing everyone as sir whenever he asks even a minor question - phew! I did suspect several characters of having been the killer, including the one who actually turned out to have dunnit, yay.

Only tiny niggle - and it’s not to do with the story as such - but can we please lose the summaries of every book in the series at the end of the book? It’s not a long book to start with, and having the mystery wrap up at 80% because there’s 18 books to remind you about, means this book weighs in at a shade over 200 pages maybe. We already have a list of the titles at the beginning.

I received a free ARC copy of this via NetGalley and the publishers Bookouture, in return for an unbiased review.
