A fast paced story with many twists and turns. Everyone has secrets and these begin to unravel when Susan sends a message which was meant for her sister, to the community WhatsApp group. A lady with the same address (but different post code!) as Susan is found dead in her house. A bit far fetched but very entertaining.
Thank you to NetGalley and Transworld Publishers for the advance copy of this book.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I enjoyed this but it was just a bit too far fetched for me

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of It Should Have Been You by Andrea Mara. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of Andrea's other books, so I was thrilled to get an advance copy of this book. The story gripped me easily in the beginning. There were a lot of POV's in this book and that took a while to get to grips with and made the story a little jumpy at times because it flips from person to person very quickly. There was a bit of a lull in the middle of the story but the last third of the book had me totally enthralled. I would definitely recommend this for any thriller and crime fans out there.

4.5
Another excellent high-speed thriller from Andrea Mara.
Susan O'Donnell is just an average woman, married with a new baby to take up all her energy so when she mistakenly sends a message meant for her sisters to an entire group of neighbours she has no idea how bad the consequences are going to get.
Her mistake will impact her whole family, her neighbours and even total strangers. Who would think a text could cause such mayhem? Certainly not Susan who soon realises that her husband and family might not be the people she thought they were because once the text is out there it brings on a deadly chain reaction that will devastate many lives.
Andrea Mara has managed, yet again, to produce a thriller that gives you absolute no chance to catch your breath. It is immensely readable and I whizzed through it in two sittings.
My one niggle is that the end is somewhat farfetched. And it is a minor niggle in what is an otherwise excellent thriller.
Highly recommended.
Thanks to Netgalley and Transworld for the advance review copy. Very much appreciated.

I love how intertwined the relationships are in this book, and it perfectly encapsulates the term ‘it’s a small world’ But it also screams of the ripple effect as one message on the wrong group (and let’s face it, we’ve all done it!) sends shockwaves through a community. I really enjoyed the development of these characters as well as the smug feeling that I had it all figured out before being surprised at how wrong I was. Thank you to Netgalley for the advance reader copy and well done Andrea Mara for another book rooted in the Irish communities in which we live and work.

Another great read from Andrea Mara. I rarely read the book description for this author's books I simply dive in. In It Should Have Been You begins with a simple mistake which many of us will have done but in this case it leads to a massive fallout. Sending a message to the wrong person. . The repercussions reveal hidden secrets . As the plot unfolded the suspense and tension went into overdrive. This is so typical of this author's fantastic book. An ordinary person , a simple mistake and what follies becomes extraordinary. Can't wait for the next book. .

I've lost count of how many times, I've said "OMG" while reading "It Should Have Been You". This book is proof of why, Andrea Mara is called the "Queen of the Twist & Hook".
With the prevalence of social media and technology in our lives, many people will have a "Opps" moment and realise that they have sent a message to the wrong person, and then frantically try to delete the message before anyone notices. And this is exactly what happens to Susan in "It Should Have Been You". However, in our storyline the error eventually results in four deaths and an arrest; completely changing the lives of the characters.
"It Should Have Been You" is truly a masterfully written storyline, moving at a swift pace, that is guaranteed to grab your attention from the opening paragraph.
Hurry to your local bookshop or library now, to get a copy of "It Should Have Been You", you won't regret it!

Have you ever sent a message to the wrong person?
Susan is on maternity leave from her teaching job. She is sleep deprived and now dealing with a message from a neighbour, Celeste, on WhatsApp chastising her, in the community group. So she takes a screenshot and sends a gossipy message full of secrets to her sisters. But it accidentally goes to the WhatsApp group 😱
Most people know who the sender is, despite her initials on the group and word spreads quickly🫣
The next day, a woman is found dead, she has the same address as Susan but in a different part of town. Did someone really target her because of Susan's message? And the drama begins!
There were so many different threads running through this book and lots of action, keeping me glued to the pages. I read it in two sittings, as I just could not get enough and the twists were so clever. We've all sent a message to someone unintentionally at some time, so it was very relatable and catastrophic in this case. This was my first novel by the author and it was so enjoyable! I will definitely go and check out her previous novels now. 4.5*

I love Andrea Mara’s books and It Should Have Been You might be her best one yet! What a twisty little thriller! I was totally invested in this story and has no idea how it was going to end. Yes I stayed up way too late to finish it but I am not at all sorry that I did. So much fun to read.
Susan O’Donnell is a new mum and severally sleep deprived. She makes an error that could end up being g fatal. In response to a WhatsApp message on her local community group that is clearly aimed at her, she lets rip. Only she meant to send it to her sisters, it accidentally sends it to the whole neighbourhood. Oops! oh well,… people think she is rude, they will get over it. But then people who are connected to her and that message are murdered…but was it meant to be her?
That is all you need to know. There are quite a few characters to get your head around but I had no problems with keeping them straight. There are some truly awful people in this neighbourhood. It was very cleverly written and ai loved the ending so much, putting all the pieces together nicely.
Just amazing! you have to read it.
Thanks so much to Transworld Publishing/ Bantam on NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. Publishes on May 8th.

Having read Mara's previous books and enjoying them I was looking forward to her latest. However, I found it way too farfetched and not my sort of thing. She's still a great writer that captures your attention and keeps you reading but this one wasn't my favourite.

Brilliantly gripping book about a mistake anyone could make - sending a text to the wrong WhatsApp group. Kept we engrossed until the very end.

One impulsive text. One fatal mistake. A woman sends a message full of scandalous secrets about her neighbors—meant for her sister—but instead, it lands in the entire neighborhood WhatsApp group. Panic sets in as the gossip spreads like wildfire, but she reassures herself that people will move on. Then, the first death threat arrives. The next day, a woman is found murdered. The eerie part? She lived at the same address—26 Oakpark—but in a different town. Did the killer target the wrong house? Or was this murder meant to be a warning? As fear tightens its grip, the protagonist must uncover the truth before it’s too late. Because someone is watching. Someone knows the truth. And they aren’t finished yet.
Overall, It Should Have Been You is a chilling, expertly crafted thriller that explores the dangers of modern communication, small-town secrets, and the devastating power of a single mistake.
I loved it.
Thanks to NetGalley and Transworld Publishers Bantam for giving me an advance copy.

I loved the start of this book! We've all faced that mortifying moment when we've sent a screen shot to the wrong person. I was so sucked in and excited to see where it went. I think from there, it kind of felt like too much was happening with too many people. It all tied in, and although there were lots of POV characters, it was easy to follow who was who. It just felt like a lot. If the moral of the book is to think before you 'speak' online, and to be careful what you post, then it's achieved that!

Have you ever sent a message to the wrong person? Now everyone knows that you did, and someone wants you dead.
It should have been you is the latest from thriller from the bestselling author Andrea Mara
I really enjoyed this, had been dying for the new book to drop and thankfully got approved for an early copy from NetGalley.
This certainly didn't disappoint, if you're a fan of her books then you'll feel right at home here. As with all of her stories , there's some great twists that keep you turning the pages. And if course, a variety of intriguing characters and to invoke emotions of love, hate, and everything in-between!
Thanks to NetGalley & Bantam for providing me with a copy to read .
Keep your eye out this Mays full release for another great thriller to add to your TBR
Rating: 4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Susan O'Donnell is on maternity leave after giving birth to her daughter Bella who is now 4 months old. She is sleep deprived and a not thinking straight. So, when she sends a text on WhatsApp to her sister about one of the families in the local community. She mistakenly send it to the local community group instead. At first, she thinks that they will recognise it as a mistake. But she doesn’t realise the consequences of this text to the people around her. The effect is one of her neighbours ends up dead.
I have been looking forward to this as this as the 5th book from the author I have read and really enjoyed them. This story is told in several points of view about the local area of Oak Park. I did find this story intriguing, but at a very slow pace. I found it quite overwhelming with the several points of view and their effects on the text in their lives, which at times felt it overshadowed the main part of the story. I thought about giving up, but I am glad I stuck with it as enjoyed the last quarter of the story. 3.5 stars from me.

While Susan is on maternity leave she makes the mistake of sending a message to a neighbourhood group instead of her sister, from there 3 murders happen and various other crimes.
While I enjoyed parts of this book it was so entirely far fetched that you would think everyone was in a 1980’s soap opera. It was hard at times to try and just take the book as it was, rather than reminding myself that the real world isn’t quite as full as huge daily coincidences.
Broadly speaking this novel will be enjoyable for anyone that wants a light, huge suspension of disbelief novel that does everything at 100%
I received this eARC from Netgalley in return for an honest review, which this is.

When Susan sends a bitchy text meant for her sister group chat to the neighbourhood WhatsApp she sets off a chain of events she or anyone else could never have imagined.
Andrea Mara is one of my all time favourite crime authors and I’m always so excited to read her next book. I love the cosy Dublin suburb setting of her books, the drama and suspense and the fact I never have any idea how the story will end. The latest is an absolute cracker with great characters, more twists than you could ever get your head around and a slow burn ending that I absolutely loved. I can’t recommend this, and all her books enough!

Just a simple text to her sister's criticising the street's "golden family" sets off a chain of events that Susan O'Donnell could never have expected. Because with a slip of her finger she sends the Whatsapp message to the neighbourhood group by mistake. The consequences of these are far reaching and tragic.
Oh my goodness, this is an edge of your seat novel. From the enthralling prologue the pace is blistering. It's intense and filled with twists. There are lots of characters voices but this doesn't detract from the story, it's easy to keep track of who's point of view you're reading about.
I absolutely loved it. I think it would make a great TV drama series.

OMG.. I have done this.... sent a message to a wrong person.... thankfully it wasn't serious but this is a story that is modern and relateable.
I loved this book. It is an intriguing and engrossing read and I cringed, worried and by the end I was amazed by how good this book was.
Well worth a read.

This is another fast paced gripping thriller from Andrea. A WhatsApp message sent to the wrong group escalates until it leads to deadly consequences! There were several storylines all going on at the same time but I found it easy to keep on top of and couldn't stop reading, wanting to know what happened.
I'd definitely recommend this book.
