I did not enjoy this book. It was too short, had no photographs or illustrations, and gave just a cursory view of the places it visited. I am well aware of how difficult it is for an author to get published these days, so I will not be sending a review to my usual review sites. No need to cause any discomfort for the author. I would recommend that he do a serious re-write of the book, go a lot more in depth, and include photographs. Good luck to him.

This was a very well researched and interesting guide, truly valuable for the interested visitor. However it would have been so much better with photos- would have been a massive 5 star guide in that case.

While the information given is detailed and interesting, the format, at least of the advance reading copy, is difficult to navigate and enjoy. Perhaps this is a draft for a final illustrated and effectively formatted book.

A delightful little book talking about the delights of Portugal. I had hoped to look back at pictures of places we had visited but alas no illustrations of photographs. It is difficult to leave a better review whilst only seeing part of the finished product.

First let me explain why I did request to read and review this book, I am portuguese, and I do enjoy travel books, so I thought this would be perfect for me, maybe even to get some ideas where to travel during the weekend or for children holidays, I had never read one through netgalley so I thought this was a great opportunity for doing so, and while what I said is true, I was a bit disappointed with this book, it misses a crucial part, and that is.. photographies, and the description of the story of places is too short.
After reading I got the impression that this was the sketchbook for a later book, with more details, photos and even links for videos or something… I do think the author did some research and these places are places that she wants to visit.
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial, for the free ARC and this is my honest opinion.

"Travels Through History - Portugal" by Julian Worker is a delightful and informative read that transported me back to my own unforgettable trip to this beautiful country. Worker's engaging writing style brings Portugal's rich history and culture to life, while his personal anecdotes add a charming touch.
This concise book is perfect for anyone planning a trip to Portugal or simply interested in learning more about its past. It provides a great overview of the country's key historical periods, from its early settlements to modern times, as well as insights into its architecture, art, and cuisine.
What I appreciated most about "Travels Through History - Portugal" is how it rekindled my own memories of exploring this captivating country. It also inspired me to start planning a return trip to experience even more of its beauty and history. An enjoyable read for travelers and history enthusiasts alike.

I got a sample to review and I wasn’t able to “Discover the Beauty and Diversity of Portugal”. I was hoping for photos and maps and names of places to visit along with the history of this beautiful country. The book only has texts and I wish that at least the name of the places were in bold so we could see them more clearly. It has 77 pages of text and history. It talks about the areas and neighborhoods. Unfortunately not for me since I like seeing photos. I can’t picture how ‘vibrant’ the city of Porto is without photos. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed the descriptions of Portugal. What was missing was maps and pictures/illustrations. This would have been a five star read for me if I wasn't constantly stopping to goggle where these places were and look up pictures to understand the text better. The writing was good but the overall book was lacking, 3.5 stars.

First of all, Many thanks to Netgalley for the ARC granted to me. I truly love books where We can immerse in other countries history and culture, and for a portuguese native speaker from Brazil, I've always felt a conexion with Portugal, since the fact that Our stories and cultures were intertwined. I liked the narrative, it was such intuiteve, quick and compelling writing, altough I have missed some pictures or visual designs (it didin't appeared to me, at least) to complete the experience. Overall, I loved the book, and I'm still dreaming of get to know this place in the future.

Julian Worker walks the reader through brief introductions to several cities/places in Portugal with specific focus to their historical appeal.
As a Portugal-loving person, who had travelled to many of the covered places, this was a nice walk down the memory lane.

Thank you so much for allowing me to review this book. I think this guide is a fantastic travelogue to reference before traveling to Portugal. I appreciate the tips on what to wear and to expect when visiting specific areas and sites. It’s helpful to know what to wear and when crowds might be smaller. I also really appreciated knowing the information on trains and travel to these areas. I do wish there were photos of the places mentioned. Perhaps the finished copy will have them. Pictures showing these areas would make it a little more helpful in deciding what to visit. That being said this guide provides an excellent snapshot of wonderful places to visit on our next trip to Portugal. I also enjoyed the history of these places as I didn’t know much of what was mentioned. Thank you again for allowing me to review this guide.
