This is a gripping psychological thriller that I read in a day! None of the characters can be depended on as trustworthy, so it’s a guessing game of the secrets & villains. A fave author, Emily Shiner’s latest is one to add to your TBR!

Thank you, Emily Shiner, Bookouture, & netgalley, for my early gifted copy! All opinions are my own.

A devoted nanny finds herself in a harrowing situation when the two little girls she cares for, Emma and Nealie, mysteriously go missing from their homes in an affluent neighborhood. As the police begin their investigation, she fears being wrongly accused due to her close access to the families and their secrets. Driven by desperation to protect her own secrets, the nanny becomes entangled in a web of intrigue and danger, questioning who is truly at risk in this chilling mystery.

MY THOUGHTS: This intricate narrative unfolds through the viewpoints of several characters, and I found it helpful to jot down their names to keep track of everyone. The story is compelling, filled with unexpected twists that kept me turning the pages. Each character harbors secrets, culminating in a conclusion I never anticipated.

If you enjoy a twisty tale that keeps you guessing until the very end, this is a must-read.

Emily’s books are addicting. I devoured this one in less than a day. I’m not always down for nanny thrillers, but I couldn’t pass up on this one.

Two of Julie’s charges go missing the same day. Best friends Nealie and Emma’s parents wake up and find both girls beds empty. Detective Kate is on the job to try to find the girls. She discovers an awful lot about the two families in the process.

I didn’t like any of the characters. They were all pretty despicable. Sometimes I struggle with books where the characters bug me, but this one still kept me thoroughly entertained.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC of this book.

My third book by Emily Shiner and another very good read.

Julie nannies for two small girls, Nealie and Emma, in the affluent prestigious Blackwood gated community, and she loves the girls as if they are her own. However, the little girls home lives are far from perfect. Nealie’s parents, Ryan and Alison, are putting on a united front despite Alison knowing that Ryan is cheating on her on a regular basis with many unknown women. Emma’s parents, Carrie and Daniel, are reeling from Daniel losing his highly paid job, and as a result of this, the family is now on a tight budget. Neither family are as happy as they make themselves out to be. Both families were extremely close and best friends but a few months earlier an incident occurred to sever that bond. When Nealie and Emma suddenly go missing and Detective Kate Martin arrives on the scene, she is determined to find the girls. The first person who is suspected is Julie, the nanny, but then Detective Martin discovers the rift between the families and realises this also puts the girls’ parents in the mix of being suspects too. When neither one of the missing girls’ parents are in a rush to explain why their rift occurred to her and why their friendship ended, despite the fact that their two little girls are missing and their lives could be at risk, Detective Martin is extremely frustrated. She feels this could be key to why the girls were taken but no-one will talk. Have Alison, Ryan, Carrie and Daniel’s secrets caught up with them and will Detective Martin be able to find Nealie and Emma safe and well?!

Another great read from Emily Shiner! There was no messing around and the prologue went straight into the action. There were quite a few characters to get to grips with, however this wasn’t a problem for very long. I have to admit I didn’t like any of the main characters, but this didn’t ruin my enjoyment of the story at all. I did find myself getting very frustrated with both Alison and Carrie though, as they both refused to put their child’s life above their desperate need to keep their secrets! I liked the introduction of the mystery character in chapter 10 (I always love a mystery character) and I just couldn’t work out who it was until the very end, so great writing by Emily Shiner. I would say the book was a little bit of a slow burn, but I urge any reader to keep with it, as once the story picked up pace it was definitely worth all the “scene setting”. There were multiple twists that surprised me, especially the one in chapter 46, as I feel Emily Shiner had done well throwing me off the scent of it. I also felt the writing in chapter 52 between Detective Martin and Julie in the rainstorm was so well written I almost felt I was there with them. The last quarter of the story was extremely action packed, and the end twist was very clever as I didn’t see it coming and had to double check which character was telling the story.

All in all, another great psychological thriller from Emily Shiner which I definitely recommend for any psychological thriller genre fans. I look forward to seeing what she writes next.

Thank you to NetGalley, Emily Shiner and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

Reading in Between the Wines book review #15/125 for 2025:
Rating: 4 🍷🍷🍷🍷
Book: The Nanny Share
Author: Emily Shiner
AVAILABLE NOW!!!
BOOK TOUR

Sipping thoughts: This is my 4th Shiner book, and it did not disappoint. I read this in one sitting, and I think it is my favorite Shiner book yet. Imagine 2 families who are friends or frenemies (depending on who you ask), and both their little girls go missing. Want to know the craziest thing? Both families assumed their 4-year-old daughters left the house in the middle of the night. I thought that was insane because my kids would never! There were so many lies, deceit, and secrets in this book. I loved the twist, and the ending was so good. I can’t wait for Shiner’s next book.

Cheers and thank you to @Netgalley and @Bookouture for an advanced copy of @TheNannyShare.

Two couples share a nanny, Julie, who looks after their young daughters. Until the girls go missing. Julie is the link between the families. She knows all their secrets. Julie swears she is innocent and has nothing to do with the girls' disappearance. But is Julie lying? Does she know more than she is letting on?

Emily Shiner never disappoints, but I think this might be her best book yet! Absolutely wild, filled with crazy twists and shocking secrets. I really did not know who to trust in this novel, as every character is hiding something. It's dark, gripping, and well written. I had a really hard time putting this one down. There are no lulls or boring parts to skim through. Every piece of this book is captivating and entertaining. A must read for any thriller fan!

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an. honest review.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'The Nanny Share' by Emily Shiner.

Well, Well, Well, Emily does it yet again!! I genuinely don't think she can make a book that I don't love!! Love, love, loved this book!!!! Absolutely gripping edge of your seat page turner!!! I mean just HOW HOW HOW can an author make each and every one of her AMAZING books EVEN BETTER each and every time???!?!?

This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that really set the scene and put you in the storyline. The cover and synopsis suit the book perfectly.

The storyline was captivating and addictive from the first page until the last and I was completely invested in it. It was absolutely rammed full of lies, secrets, family, tension, drama, twists, suspense and everything you could ask for in a page turning psychological thriller. I just could not stop reading this absolutely addictive book from the first word to the last. Emily's extremely talented and evocative skills really brought the book to life and I was completely absorbed throughout. I lost count of the amount of times I promised myself one more chapter but that one finished in a way I just HAD to know what would happen next so I said just more and this went on and on until I ended up finishing it in one sitting!!! The location and atmosphere was absolutely perfect for this gripping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I absolutely love Emily's books and am guaranteed to be shocked every time I pick one up which is not an easy feat considering how many books I read a year so a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS Emily!!! One of the things I love about her books is that they can also be quite thought provoking and always end with MASSIVE BOMBSHELLS that I absolutely love and never do see coming. Emily's evocative writing drags you deep into the storyline from the first sentence to the very last and will keep you up until the very last word! THAT ladies and gentleman is a true sign of an absolute must read. I absolutely loved the ending which was definitely an unexpected twist which is just one of the reasons I love Emily's books, she manages to get me every single time!! I've said it before about Emily's books and I shall say it again!! I would absolutely LOVE to see this turned into a movie and would wait up all night to get tickets to watch it!!

I hope your busy writing your next book Emily as I just cannot wait to see what bombshell twist and explosive storyline you have up your sleeve for us next!!!!

Do not start this book until you have cleared your schedules as you will not be able to put it down!!

The characters were all realistic and strong and I was completely invested in them throughout. I love the fact that we got to see what was happening from multiple protagonist perspectives of Alison, Carrie, Kate and Julie so you get a much bigger picture of everything that is going on!! Emily weaves all of the chapters together with perfect timing until it all comes together with an explosive BANG!! It also explains absolutely everything which leaves no question unanswered at the end which is a pet hate of mine!! It also leaves you questioning what is really going on and gets you thinking more and more the deeper you delve into the storyline. Emily's multiple person perspective also really helps the reader understand the characters more making them more realistic to the reader. I was completely invested in all of the characters throughout and Emily's evocative descriptions really makes them jump out of the book and come to life in front of the readers eyes. All of the characters were multi layered with complex personalities which definitely made them all the more interesting to read about!!! Unfortunately, I really can not say anymore as I don't want to spoil it for future readers. I had no idea what to think of the different characters, what was really going on or where it was all leading which just goes to show what a talented author Emily is and I cannot wait to get hooked into her next psychological thriller which is guaranteed to be another page turner!! Regardless of what I thought about who, each character worked perfectly to make this page turning psychological thriller!!!

Congratulations Emily on yet ANOTHER huge success. This is the exact reason why you are in my favourite 5 authors list!! Here's to your next guaranteed success 🥂!!

Overall another absolutely unputdownable, action packed, intriguing psychological thriller that will keep you up at night on the edge of your seat with a pounding heart from onw of the best psychological thriller authors EVER!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of The Nanny Share by Emily Shiner. This book was a fast paced thriller. I have read several books by this author and I have enjoyed each and every one of them. This story is filled with secrets and lies, which always seem to lead to intrigue. There were plenty of twists throughout the book which kept me guessing. I was engaged in this book right from the start! Well done Emily Shiner!

The first half of the book was difficult to get into, and I struggled to connect with any of the characters. However, it picked up around the 40% mark, leading to twists and turns that kept me engaged. The satisfying ending ultimately made up for the slow start. 3.5 stars

The Nanny Share is a psychological thriller, with a deep seated mystery, that had me guessing all the way through.

When two young girls go missing on the same night Detective Kate Martin is called in to investigate.
It appears the children had much in common, their mother's were once best friends and they share the same young nanny.

Emily Shiner has produced a compelling mystery full of simmering menace. With a cast of conniving, unlikable characters, who all had something to hide, and no-one could be trusted to tell the truth it made for some interesting reading. Even Det. Kate Martin was inadvertently connected to the case.

I never did unravel the mystery and the final conclusion came as a shock.

The Nanny Share was an enjoyable read with an easy plot-line and a couple of great twists that kept me entertained throughout.

Everything seems perfect in the neighbourhood of Blackwood. Everyone has the perfect house, the perfect lawn, the perfect family. But even perfection hides its' secrets, right, including the residents of this quaint little area? When 2 little girls go missing, the entire neighbourhood is torn apart to find them, and everyone is a suspect. Their parents used to be best friends and now they no longer even speak to each other. Who took the girls and why?

This was a great read. Emily Shiner always knows how to grab their audience from the first chapter and hold onto them right until the end. The chapters are a great length; they jump around the different perspectives, which adds a great twisty aspect since it leaves you questioning everyone. The imagery was wonderful. The characters were likable (or not, which adds to the story - trust me!). Some characters had a dark sense about them and some were pretty sassy. Julie, the nanny, plays a wonderful role in the story and her sleuthing skills were really put to the test! I found myself trying to read each chapter quickly to figure out what everyone was hiding. The ending is great and left my jaw on the floor.

I would definitely recommend this one! Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this free advanced copy! This was my honest review.

Ending was definitely a surprise in this book! Lots of twists and the author gave just enough tidbits to keep me hanging. It did feel slow in the first half, most of the excitement happens in the last third of the book. And I had the worst time keeping the couples straight in the beginning. I couldn’t remember who was who and who had done what!

The Nanny Share by Emily Shiner is an on the edge of your seat, roller coaster ride of a thriller!

When two 4-year-old girls from two different families go missing, the race is on to find out what happened in this affluent community of Blackwood. Detective Kate Martin is called in and soon realizes that this case is an absolute nightmare. The girls parents used to be best friends but now can't stand to be around each other and they also have the same nanny, Julie who is clearly keeping secrets. No one is trustworthy and this little community is full of secrets and lies.

From the beginning this novel hooked me and didn't let go. An extremely gripping and intense plot, and an almost never-ending list of suspects are just a couple of things that kept me engaged. Shiner has a way with writing her characters so that you feel the desperation and suspense right along with them. Just when you think you have it all figured out Shiner adds in another twist. Highly recommend this novel for fans of Daniel Hurst, Freida McFadden, and Miranda Rijks.

Thank you to NetGalley, Emily Shiner and Bookouture for this ARC. Expected publication date is February 21st 2025.

The Nanny Share is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, though at times it can feel a bit all over the place. The narrative weaves between multiple perspectives and plotlines, which may leave some readers feeling a bit disoriented, but it ultimately adds to the suspense as the twists and turns build up. While the pacing and structure may be a bit uneven, the suspenseful atmosphere and intriguing character dynamics make it a compelling read. If you enjoy thrillers with unpredictable developments, this book is definitely worth picking up!

Emily Shiner delivers a gripping psychological thriller with The Nanny Share—a fast-paced, intricately plotted read packed with deception, secrets, and twists that will keep you turning the pages.

From the very first page, I was captivated by the story’s setting: the exclusive, gated community of Blackwood, where two four-year-old girls mysteriously vanish, and every character seems to be hiding something behind a carefully crafted facade.

The writing is exceptionally strong, and the world-building draws you deeply into this unsettling universe. Shiner masterfully creates a tense atmosphere where trust is a rare commodity. In this world, everyone is lying, and no one is truly likable. Yet, this very flaw in her characters makes them all the more compelling. They are flawed, deceitful, and tangled in a complex web of secrets that only deepens as the plot unfolds. The tension builds beautifully, with every chapter ratcheting up the suspense until the jaw-dropping conclusion.

What I found particularly impressive was the intricate layering of the narrative. The story constantly challenges your assumptions, leaving you uncertain about who is really in control. At times, I wasn’t even sure who was spying on whom, as the layers of deception intertwined in a way that both confounded and fascinated me. The relentless pace and cleverly plotted twists ensure that you remain engaged, even when the sheer amount of lying, cheating, and manipulation becomes overwhelming.

Despite the unsettling themes, the book is brilliantly crafted and utterly addictive. The vivid descriptions of Blackwood, paired with the tension-filled interactions between characters, create an immersive reading experience. It’s a story that not only entertains but also makes you reflect on the nature of trust and the complexities of human relationships.

The Nanny Share is a well-written, twisty thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. If you enjoy psychological thrillers where every page is steeped in secrets and mind games, then this is one to add to your list. While the abundance of deceit left me with a slightly unsettled aftertaste, it’s clear that Shiner’s talent for storytelling is undeniable. Emily Shiner has cemented her place as an author I will eagerly read again, and this book is a testament to her ability to create narratives that are as thought-provoking as they are thrilling.

Two couples have more than one thing in common, and it’s definitely not something to brag about. Parents to four-year-old girls, when both girls go missing, the chinks in the armor that are there start to shine through.

Frantic about their children’s whereabouts, the two couples, Alison and Ryan, and Carrie and Daniel, are searching in the direction of their shared nanny, Emma. The story unfolds through alternating perspectives, including an unnamed narrator, creating a twisted and suspenseful story.

With palpable tension, this book was impossible to put down. As I read, I couldn’t help but hope for the girls’ safety with every breath. But there was another level of intrigue that kept me hooked. Secrets and lies that could rock the foundations of both marriages, along with a couple of unique twists, made this a thrilling read by Emily Shiner.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
