I am always drawn to the covers of Jill Mansell's books (they are just so gorgeous!), but despite having many of my shelves I had yet to read one. Reading the synopsis for Three Amazing Things About You grabbed me, and I got stuck in.
Wow, just wow! This book is quite simply beautiful! I loved the characters, the emotion and it had all the feels, and then some!! Hallie has Cystic Fibrosis and as we meet her she is preparing for a transplant. Yes, that sounds heavy, and it is a really serious topic, but Jill has written it into the story in such a way that it is broken up with loads of fun, lighter parts, courtesy of the other characters, friends of Hallie's who flit back between the past and the present. There is some romance as well!
I really cant bring myself to talk about the plot too much as I loved becoming absorbed in it without any spoilers or hints, and I don't want to deprive other readers of this. But what I will say, is have some tissues to hand. Once I got to know the characters I was gone, hook line and sinker, catapulted into their worlds, their dramas, and their wishes. It was definitely emotional, and as I approached the end and was on the bus I decided to wait until I got home to finish it. Firstly so I wouldnt make a show of myself in public, and secondly so I could savour every moment with characters that I didnt want to leave.
Uplifting, inspirational, packed full of emotion, this is 100% a book that will make you appreciate life, and those you love.
