Sorry but this felt a bit like the author took inspiration from other big popular book. From Throne of Glass with the "I do not yield", "I will not be afraid", "To wathever end" to Forth Wing with "It's been my honor", I've had it. I literally look at my tattoo when I read the "I do not yield" line. I know Sarah J Maas and Rebecca Yarros are not the owners of those lines but it's about the accumulation of them.

In this story, we mainly follow Melody who is a half-fae/half-humain. She lives with a mean guy and one day, a bunch of guys are showing up at her door to bring her to the Two Moons Kingdom.

She meets Caryan, the king of the Two Moons kingdom and Riven, his second. The three of them have a bond that is not explained but will be (I guess?) in the next book.

Note : The bond that I am mentioning is about the three of them. Like a triangle. We know about the bond between Caryan and Riven and the one between Caryan and Melody.

Before she is being brought to this new kingdom, she saves Blair. Blair is a witch who is depressed and is longing to live in the humain world.

The world building is complexe and I wish it was done well. I did not understand much of the world and the specific of it. There are many creatures, worlds and laws. Too much was introduced in a short amount of time (despite the fact that the book is huge). I did not care for the writing style, the story, the characters, all of it to be honest. This book felt like a huge, continuing, long introduction. Nothing happened.

One of the things that I enjoyed in this book was reading about the bond between Riven and Caryan. The love between them was so sweet, especially knowing about their past and the suffering that they had to go through.

Melody was also a relatable character. I love reading about badasses female characters but if I was thrown into this world, I would totally be more like Melody.

I think I would like to read the next one to see if the series gets better.

I consumed this book like it was the first and last time I'll ever read a book it was that good and that fast paced. It gripped my attention in an iron gripped chokehold.

Melody's story is quite captivating from the very start. She's a total badass on the outside but completely broken on the inside. The only morsel of a family she has, her abusive captor and his minions, are left in the dust when she meets Riven. Picture the darkest book boyfriend you can get but still be golden retriever.

And then we meet Caryan. Caryan is a lot to unpack but we are looking at a tormented, dark shadow daddy, "she's mine", fallen angel of an ancient scary dream boat.

Oh, and the witch sub plot could be a stand alone saga on its own!

As the book progresses we learn of the prophecy, what it could mean, and how it's interpreted as it pushes and pulls our main characters to their destiny.

Your heart fully breaks for Melody. Her stubborn, genuine character is maintained beautifully through the book without being broody or self loathing. She sticks to her guns in the best way.

The descriptive slow burn romance here has everyone on edge as all characters barely maintain their composure. But that doesn't mean there is no spice...there absolutely is.

There were multiple times in the book I actually said out loud "fuck off", "no way!", and "come on Caryan you're ruining everything you idiot!". I love this world, the characters, and where it's going (I have no idea where it's going, the plot twists and cliff hangers were no joke).

Look for this book at the end of March. You won't regret it!

Thanks Alexandra Thomashoff, netgalley and Last Unicorn Press for the opportunity to review this novel!

Thank you to Netgalley for the e-ARC!

I thought this book was soooo good. I do not think I can get over it and cannot wait to read what is to become of this series. The world building was intense but so engagaing. The characters were so intriguing and complex. I think Melody is so well described and everything she is feeling is justified and you really feel for her throughout the duration of the story. I really like Caryan, you can see through the ruthlessness how much he cares for Melody and for his court. He is morally grey and has shadows and seems to have a soft spot for a half mortal, how can I not like him.

The multiple POVs really helped tie the plot and get a better sense of what is going on through Blair, Melody, and Riven. Plus, there are glimpses of the past through Blair's POV that helps gain a better understanding on why things have panned out the way they are.

The romance was another factor that I enjoyed. The slow-burn of it all is so well written and the whole time I was just waiting for Caryan and Melody to get together. Despite his words toward her and him holding back you can see how much he's fighting his attraction toward her in the things he says and some of the things he allows her to see and no one else (if only we could've had a Caryan POV). The only thing I don't like as much is adding Riven into the mix. I have never been a true fan of love triangles, but I did not feel the one written in this was strong.

Now the ending... the cliff hanger. I am ready to know what is to happen next and not ready for the journey it will take to make it back to one another.

Thank you so much for sending me the arc of this book!

I had SUCH a good time! I am in love with Caryan.

This was brilliant. Thank you.

This reminded me of quicksliver. The prisoner and rag to riches trope was pretty relevant in this plot. Overall, great book.

The beginning is slow, and the world building is quite complex and may be difficult to understand at times but with push through it. It is worth it. I love a strong FMC and a morally grey male character.

DNF at 50%

Thank you Netgalley for this arc. Unfortunately, I was not the right audience for this.
The world has a lot of potential. Lore wise, it's amazing and I would have loved to see how far the world building goes. I think lore wise, it's done so much better than some other romantasies of similar vein that I've read.

There's wyverns and dragons. Also unique races. Like, they're faes and witches and demons and angels, but the way they are presented, they're still unique to this world.

I was sooo excited to pick up this book after reading the glossary of the races. The writing is more modern? It doesn't have a classical fantasy writing but it did not diminish the story at all.

I had to dnf because I have trouble connecting with other characters, especially the main female character, so I could not continue with it. I am not a fan of the "love triangle" as well. I don't feel a genuine connection there.

I would have read on, maybe, if Blair was the main character though. I feel like, it started off so strong with her pov but the sudden switch and how her pov dwindled was just jarring. So took me off of the whole experience.

There were also certain parts of Melody that griped me, with how easy it was for her to gain knowledge and the like. Took me off.

Other than that, I would probably recommend.

Honestly I enjoyed this book throughout the entire read. It did give me ACOTAR vibes. I liked that a glossary was at the front of the book so you could fully understand the characters in the book. Caryan, Melody and Riven were my favorite duo in this book. The only thing that annoyed me was Melody and he escaping and having to be rescued on multiple occasions. I know that was a part of the story but I still I go through it. I feel like Caryan backstory was well written just knowing what he did to the people to sacrifice their lives. I am very much looking forward to reading the next book and continuing this story. Thank you so much for letting me read an early release for this book. All the best!

Thank you so much to Netgalley for accepting my request to read and review this book!

I really loved the sound of this book, and took a chance on reading from an author I'd never heard of before, and a book I'd also never heard of.

But sadly it just fell short for me, but I think a lot of this is due to a lack of professional editing. While there weren't any grammar mistakes that caught my eye, it was more due to the fact that sentences did not flow and therefore I found myself constantly rereading sentences to understand what's being said. I also felt like the pacing was very strange, with some moments dragging on too long, overly descriptive, with others being too rapid fire and hard to follow.

I think this book has huge potential, if reduced in length (because it was far too long) and thoroughly edited. I didn't hate it, but it felt ammateur and therefore hard for me to really connect to and stay engaged in.

IF IT WERE UP TO ME I wouldn't give this book a star rating, as I don't believe its fair, but Netgalley require one so I am going with a 3.

I wanted to love this, but…

The plot had promise, and I usually love a big cast of characters.

But the writing—oh man, it just didn’t work for me. Clunky sentences, constant telling instead of showing, and a POV style that felt all over the place. Melody, the FMC, felt like every other fantasy heroine I’ve read, and the romance? Let’s just say I wasn’t rooting for it. Also, the modern elements (Porsche? Clubbing?) felt jarring in a fantasy setting.

I tried so hard to power through this book because the writing is genuinely very good, and the plot is engaging and fun, but the formatting of the book itself is so beyond messed up that I couldn't get past it. I do see myself finishing this book int the future if the formatting gets fixed, but the structure itself is so out of sorts that I couldn't get through it.

The lift alignment of the whole book made it really difficult to read. I’d be interested in a reformatted copy if it becomes available. But it’s not readable like this.

Rating 2.5 stars ⭐️⭐️.⭐️
Kingdom of the Two Moons is a modern day romantasy that drew me in initially from the cover and description. I am an avid fan of this genre so it seemed like a great next read.

While I enjoyed the detailed world-building that the author very clearly understood well ; the book fell short for me. The overall story jumped between multiple narrations making it difficult to feel connected to any one character and rendered many of the POV shifts hard to follow. Additionally it was extremely difficult to become immersed in the plot as it was heavily lined with what felt like filler that was just there to move the story along and not to guide the reader somewhere. The individual character development left some to be desired as well.

Ultimately I think this book has great potential and the world itself is very thoughtfully built. I just wish the author was as thoughtful in her character development.

Thank you to Alexandra Thomashoff, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Omg. Loved this book. Fantastic for readers of ACOTAR, Throne of Glass, Quicksilver, and The Cruel Prince. The world building, politics, magic system, prophecies, and plot had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Definitely heavy on fantasy (which I appreciate), so I may need to reread to understand everything. The best fae romantasy I have read since Crescent City.

Ohhh, this was so good! So many unexpected twists, I couldn't have predicted how everything happened the way it did. I really enjoyed the multiple main characters too that left me guessing. This was such a great read, I really look forward to reading the next book to see what happens!

Thank you so much for allowing me to read this book, thank you for sharing it with me!

I loved the characters in this book. Their complex personalities mixed with their flaws come through beautifully. Team Riven. I felt so much angst throughout this book waiting for someone to make a move and finally “do the deed”. It just makes me more excited to see what comes in book two.

The overall magic system and backstories could have been explained better. I was left confused during some parts of the book that seemed to make sense in the author’s head but didn’t quite compute in mine as a reader just walking into this world.

Thank you Netgalley for the early arc

I would rate this book a 3 stars

Unfortunately for me, this book just didn't hit the same as other fantasy books. It was compared to something similar like ACOTAR and Fourth Wing and I definitely can see some resemblance to those books in terms of the "shadow daddies" aspects. I just didn't feel as connected to this book as them.

Somme things I do like about this book
- some of the quotes written are very beautiful
- the worldbuilding
- a unique magic system

However, the things i did not enjoy was more than what i like about this book such as
- the plot. I felt that there was a lot of fillers in the main story and it became draggy after a while and i just couldn't wait to hurry through the ending that i just didn't care for the ending at all and wanted to dnf many times throughout the story.
- the characters feel extremely one dimensional and extremely copy and paste from all the other "shadow daddies" and honestly i just didn't understand why Blair played such a big role in the story (maybe in the future i might find out but for now, she's just rather annoying)
- the constant changing of pov was extremely jarring and the timeskips that happen was suddenly that it really takes it out of the story because of how constant it happens
- the love triangle that i did not expect to happen came out and it was rather badly done unfortunately.
- the nicknames used was extremely weird to me like i get that some characters are a few hundred years old but constantly referring the FMC as "little girl" was extremely weird to me.

Overall, this was a good attempt at a romantasy book and a debut novel however there are still many things that can be edited down to help the book flow better and i do wish the characters were more 3 dimensional but unfortunately i did not enjoy this as much as i thought i would

This book just wasn’t for me. I didn’t like how modern the world was and its aspects killed the fantasy feel of the book that I enjoy. The FMC is a witch but is described as a vampire and I just couldn’t get past that. I couldn’t get into the story.

So this book left me feeling unsure how I feel and that doesn’t happen often. That’s why it’s a 4⭐️

I feel like it the characters were good and kept you wondering what was coming next.
The plot is still developing and there definitely needs to be a book two with how it ended.
There was some spice and some scenes that are common in far culture especially parties… IYKYK
There are moments of flash back where you hear from one character in the past and then it’s a bunch of present time and then jumping back again. Not a problem. Just made me assume another connection that did not turn out the way i guess for most the book but that’s good.
The flow is where I struggled and it was by the 45%ish percent that I hit a point I wanted to check what percent I was at and when I saw only that much I mentally had to push myself to get through it for a while. I just felt not as drawn in and a like the momentum just plateaued until the last bit when things hit the past the point of no return and then the book ended. I needed the momentum to keep up the pace set before and idk if it was just me but I really struggled BUT I am glad I finished it. I want to know what happens next with the FMC and the path she has decided to travel down. Blair… I need more she gives me wanna be manon vibes. So yes please.

What do you get if an Angel, a witch, a half elf and a cast of other fantasy creatures walk into a fortress? An incredibly interesting and layered romantasy novel is what!

This has four points of view in both first person, third person, time flashbacks and differing realms to contend with so the world building is intense. I wasn’t sure what I was reading about to begin with but realised we were in a human realm where magical folk used a portal to change and I soon got the hang of the writing style and perspective jumps. We move from the human realm into an Elven realm quite swiftly once the story gets going.

We start the novel with Blair who is looking for a girl. She finds the girl, except it’s the girl who actually finds Blair and warns her away thus saving her life. Melody has been kept enslaved by Lucien as she has a gift he is capitalising upon.

Caryan is an angel and appears in both timelines as he was kept enslaved by the witch queen Gatilla who is Blair’s aunt and her secret lover. In the latter time line he rules his kingdom of necromancy as Blair is negotiating with the current witch queen and hunting Melody, who has met Riven who is enamoured of her and she him but also Caryan and I know others reviews talk about a love triangle but it’s almost a love quadrangle?! The story was breathtaking and intense. Caryan is a brooding, brutally bad and annoyingly reticent at sharing any details which kept the plot details on the down low…. Sometimes I felt a bit of an info dump would have been useful?!

Melody is half human and therefore weak, vulnerable and pretty helpless despite having her gifts but honestly her character growth from the beginning to the finale was amazing.
Blair is a witch who has never really known love or kindness and whose heart was broken and has a dog eat dog personality. She continues hunting Melody and they have separate storylines slowly drawing together throughout the novel.
Lastly we have Riven and I think I appreciate his character most. He’s a stalwart comrade, part of the cadre of Caryan, his best friend but still shut out from the inner workings of Caryan’s mind. He feels protective affection for Melody and looks out for her as best he can. There’s jealously from both sides where she is concerned and continued danger from the elven population within the fortress and monsters which surround it. Think Tremors!! I thought the story and writing flowed well. The changes in chapter (some long and some short) perspective and first to third person took a bit to get used to but for a debut the story was so strong it’s worth continuing.

The book certainly has elements of spice and slow burn but I rather liked the fact the reader had no notion of which way things might go with so many character options and feelings flying around and Caryan refusing emotions and Melody caught between him and Riven.

I would recommend and will look out for the sequel in due course because cliffhanger alert! There’s still an awful lot to uncover!
