Daniel Hurst does it again! Another great book by him!. Did not expect the ending I thought the babies would be returned to their rightful mothers.

First of all, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be an early reader and reviewer for this novel.

This book had me in a chokehold from the get go! The constant tension and fast pace made this an incredible thriller with an ending that made me gasp. Really enjoyed this one and would recommend everyone to read this whenever they get the chance.

THE BABY SWAP BY DANIEL HURST.
Release date set for the 19th of February 2025.
MUST READ
HOLY COW. THIS BOOK IS AMAZING.
MY GOODNESS..... the beginning of this book gave me chills.
As a mother who has birthed 4 babies this terrified me.
I started reading this in bed last night and my anxiety was through the roof from the start so i needed to keep reading.
I finished it off today so it hasn't taken me long to read at all.
Page turner, thought provoking and what a crazy wild ride this was.
And WOW what a BANGER of an epilogue that was.
OUTSTANDING writing.
Just brilliant

Like a game of Buckaroo, including so many ups and downs and an unpredictable ending!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for access to this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Publication date 19 February 2025.

This was a quick, but gripping read of a bitterness, rivalry and revenge. A story from mainly 2 perspectives, we follow Jade and Avril. Jade has goals to work in the cosmetic industry and has not been successful. Avril is at the top of her game working for the cosmetic industry.

The story starts in the hospital when both ladies have delivered their babies and are in the beds next to each other. Jade looks completely different, so Avril does not recognise her, although feels she is familiar for some reason. Jade, however, recognises Avril and is consumed with a need for revenge.

Here starts a journey of madness, that has you on the edge of your seat and leads you on an emotional rollercoaster. As the story progresses, it becomes quite thought provoking and leaves you considering so many factors, ethics, welfare, bullying, upbringing and life circumstance.

I liked the thought provoking and moral dilemma aspect of the book, together with the unusual storyline. For me, without adding spoilers, there were a few too many unbelievable aspects, particularly with how the hatred for one another continued and with the baby swap. After the interview I did feel angry about how Jade was initially treated and subsequently bullied. This kind of treatment makes my blood boil, then there was a beautiful twist on this at the end which I will not reveal. As I say it left me thinking about certain elements and how one person can impact your life in so many ways.

The epilogue with Bobby was clever and brought a different dynamic to the story. A change on perspective can bring the story to a new level and I enjoyed this.

I cannot say I liked either character particularly, as I found them irritating in different ways. However, I would recommend this book for a quick, fun, twisty and thought provoking read, albeit lacking in a little depth. Looking forward to reading Daniel Hurst again in the future.

Recommended.

A crazy storyline.
Its dark and tragic.
Neither of the two main characters are likeable and the whole thing is totally bonkers.
Having said that it was an enjoyable roller coaster of a read.
Yet another great read from Daniel Hurst.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

I went into this book with the title and summary and a basic thought of how this could play out. I came out of it like what just happened?! I couldn't have guessed the dark twists in this book! The connection for the main characters, Avril and Jade, doesn't begin in the maternity ward. It intertwines much deeper and makes you want to take another second guess everything you say and do before you act upon it. We get to hear from Avril and Jade (varying chapters) in the first person view. When you think you've got something figured out, think again! Very interesting concept for a book!

I was given access to "The Baby Swap" on the morning of January 24, 2025 and finished it hours later. In my 17 years of writing, publishing, and teaching, this is the quickest I've read a book. It wasn't quick because it was short. I read it quickly because I could not put it down. I read in the car, waiting on appointments, at home, etc. The Baby Swap has relatable characters and all throughout the book, I felt compelled to support each character. Never knowing who to support until the end kept me guessing as I turned each page. This thriller always kept me speculating and the author always threw me off. My speculations were not accurate and the author surprised me with twists on each page. This action-packed book could definitely turn into a feature film one day. I was also pleased to read a thriller that did not have foul language on every page. As emotional as the plot was, the author chose to use language that even teenagers could read. I appreciate that and will continue to read Hurst's work largely because of that. This book has quickly moved to the top of my list of favorite books surpassing many other popular authors, books, and series. I hope the book continues to tell us more about what the character meant in one of the last sentences of the epilogue. Great job!

I can't wait to promote this on the release day!

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Baby Swap by Daniel Hurst due to be published February 19, 2025.
Avril stares at her perfect baby, but he keeps crying. She doesn’t think that is the baby she gave birth. Is it, or did someone at the hospital switch and take hers?
I have read over 60 of Daniel Hurst’s books – he is one of my favorite authors. The Baby Swap is a perfect example of why. A thriller that keeps you guessing until the end, a plot to follow and see how it comes out, and several characters whom aren’t you think they are. Another wonderful book by Daniel Hurst!

I had a hard time deciding who to root for in this book. Both women were flawed and had done some bad things. I felt the ending was unfortunate, as no one came out on top. There was no redemption for anyone.

Many thanks to netgalley, the author and bookouture for approving my request to read this book.

I love, love, loved this book! I thankfully started reading it on my day off-I honestly could not put this twisted psychological thriller down and finished it in a few hours.

I have read a fair few of Daniel's books and I personally think this is his best one yet, I was riveted from start to finish and what an ending!

5 very well deserved stars for this book from me.

I have a real soft spot for Daniel Hurst and was excited to read the Baby Swap - starting, quite literally with a baby swap. The question though, why did Jade swap the babies? what is the history between these two women? who is Avril really? who is the bad guy?!

It was a wild ride, I still could not tell you who the villain in this story was - everyone was as bad as each other. Lots of twists, including one final twist when you thought it was all over. Daniel is a master of a dramatic thriller and I enjoyed every chapter of this exciting book.

This was hands down the best book I have read in a long time. I read a lot and love Daniel Hurst. This book was everything I wanted it to be and so much more. It starts with two women delivering babies and one of them switching hers for the others, just like the title. As a mom, I struggled with how anyone could ever give up their child for another, but Daniel Hurst did a great job of keeping you guessing. The book goes back and forth between the lives of these two women. Avril is used to getting what she wants and doing it without a care of how others will feel. I kept thinking that I knew how this would end and then I was completely blindsided by the end. We have already ordered a copy for my library and I am also recommending we order it for the Libby App. I need more books from Daniel Hurst. Thank you NetGalley & Daniel Hurst for allowing me to preview The Baby Swap.

Wow and it's books like this is why Daniel Hurst is one of my favourite authors!! This book is amazing you really felt for both parties but it was the Epilogue at the end that made the book 📖 thank you Netgallery for letting me read this early another fantastic book. Oh when I see a Daniel Hurst book I know I am in for a ride, this is him getting back to his best. It is a shortish story and I read it in an afternoon. I just had to keep going and find out how the bizarreness of this story would play out and I wasn't disappointed. You got so involved in the story and you couldnt believe either women would do what they did but then emotions get involved and it all goes a bit bonkers. Just loved it and the ending was pure Daniel Hurst.
