I absolutely loved this book. However, it was a slow pace at first and didn’t get good until right at the end. I did not see the plot twist and there should definitely be a book two to this telling it from Brian pov.

Okay, so like, this was a total rollercoaster. One minute, I'm fully on board, flipping pages like my life depends on it, and the next, I'm just sitting there like, "Did that seriously just happen?" It's twisty, it's dark, and it's totally bingeable. I mean, baby swapping? Dramaaa.

The story gives you both sides, and let me tell you, picking a side? Impossible. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, BAM—curveball. The tension builds in a way that had me speed-reading, and while I saw some things coming, that ending? Whoa.

Was it totally over-the-top? Yes. Did I love every messy, dramatic second? Also yes. The pacing was a little uneven in spots, but honestly, it still kept me hooked. Perfect for a quick, wild thriller fix.

I was eager to get through this book as I wanted to know the history between the 2 main characters. This was the hook that kept me reading, even though I found much of the plot fairly unlikely. I like my books to be believable however I struggled with this one. The way the characters just happened to meet up; the way such a powerhouse of a woman would spend so much time and energy on a person but then not recognise them after a bit of time? I found myself eyerolling at the unlikely turn of events throughout this book.

This was a great read. I was anxiously awaiting for the next thing to happen. I couldn’t imagine switching a baby, but then when I continued to read WHY she did it, I guess it made sense. But it cost her her life, so clearly not worth it. I enjoyed the way this book was written.

Thank you to NetGalley, author Daniel Hurst and Bookouture publishing for the ARC and opportunity to review this book.

While I have read books by this author that were phenomenal, this one just didn’t cut it. It was a very long drawn out story that had been done a thousand times. No real twists or thrills.

The last 10% was good, hence the 3 star review but I felt the rest was just lacking the usual suspense and thrill from this author.

From the title of this book alone I knew that it was going to be an intense read however I was unprepared for how much of a roller coaster the author would truly put us on. Since I have never read anything by this author before I went into it completely blind. After finishing this book however I was completely blown away and I cannot wait to add Daniel Hurst to my must read author list. This was a fast paced thriller that really tugged at the readers heartstrings. I loved the concept (as terrible as it would be) and I found myself completely unable to put this book down. The characters were fantastic and it was such a fast paced read that I couldn't get enough. There were so many twists and turns right from the beginning that I left me speechless and desperate for more answers. I I loved the twists the characters but mostly what I loved was the way that the author seamlessly made what should have been a dark and scary subject but made it more intense and shocking instead. The book starts out pretty normally two women go into a hospital and give birth to their children, and while each woman has a very different lifestyle (one married while the other doesn't know the baby's father) things seem pretty ordinary until they aren't. When in the middle of the night one of the women suddenly switches infants things really take a turn. That is when the book takes a turn as we learn about both women's pasts, how their lives were intertwined, and how it subsequently led to the switching of the children. I found it very interesting to get both of the women's view points one happy and trying to cope with a newborn the other desperate to make her neighbouring roommate pay in any way necessary and almost ignoring her child all together. I loved the tension in the characters but my favorite part had to be the switching between the characters and how drastically different they were in every way. There were so many twists in this book that you were never completely sure what was going to happen because anything was possible and I loved that. This was a very dark read but it wasn't too over-the-top. With a fascinating and original plot and characters that were so well written you forgot that they were fictional this is a book that I couldn't get enough of. Great read and I'm so glad that I got the chance to check it out. If you get a chance to read any book this year make sure it is this one because you won't want to miss out on the shear intensity that this novel packs. 5/5 I just wish that I could rate it higher than a five.

Another winner from Daniel Hurst. His books are always enjoyable and I definitely binge read them! . Although I found the circumstances around the swap a little far fetched I still loved the book- great ending. Definitely recommend this book- and definitely recommend ALL of his books.. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Daniel Hurst for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of The Baby Swap by Daniel Hurst. This book truly was unputdownable! I was hooked from the very beginning and the ending was intense! The author does a great job telling the story from both points of view, and sometimes it was very difficult to figure out whose side I was on based on the character's actions. Although I did find myself wondering why Jade would not have come up with a "reasonable explanation" rather than admit fault when she thought no one saw her. The last chapter and the epilogue had me absolutely reeling the whole time and the author had a great closing to the book. It was an easy and entertaining read and I look forward to reading more from Daniel Hurst!

The Baby Swap by Daniel Hurst was a crazy good rollercoaster ride that had me gasping at every turn. Daniel has once again proven he is the master of his domain. There hasn't been any book of his that I have not devoured with gluttony.

The story follows married couple Avril and Bobby, and Jade who is single. Both women give birth at the same hospital and on the same day and are roommates on the delivery ward. What quickly ensues is a spine tingling cat and mouse game of revenge. But who is the cat and who is the mouse? Neither woman is willing to be the underdog in this game and both pull out all the stops to come out on top.

The chapters are short and easy to fly through, and is told through the viewpoints of both Avril and Jade. Psychological suspense lovers climb aboard and strap yourselves in and get ready for this exhilarating ride. I highly recommend this book.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy

This is another cracking story from Daniel Hurst. A page turning, mind blowing journey where I was totally conflicted. Two new mums, two babies and the worst kind of revenge I can imagine. I was pulled this way and that, not quite knowing which, if either, of the mothers to support or feel sorry for. Both Jade and Avril were both equally loathful yet sometimes vulnerable too. The twist at the end was unexpected but brought the story to a satisfactory conclusion. I enjoyed every minute spent with this book and am working my way through Daniel's earlier books. I thoroughly recommend this one to all who enjoy a twisty, riveting psychological thriller. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review an early copy of The Baby Swap.

Jade and Avril are in the hospital together giving birth on the same day. Avril feels like Jade looks a little familiar, but can not place where she knows her from...during the night after they have both given birth, Jade swaps the babies and leaves to go home with Avril's child in tow. Why did she do this? Now Avril and her husband are home with a new baby, and Avril knows that something is wrong, why is she unable to bond with her new child? Things all seem so very different than they were that first day. Avril's past hides some terrible secrets and Jade was directly affected by Avril's bad behavior. The book is told from both Jade and Avril's viewpoints and we know things about each woman as she tells her story. Things that Avril has done in the past are revealed, and how those things play a large role in the vengeance being sought by Jade.

This story had me hooked, I couldn't put it down, and in typical Daniel Hurst fashion, the epilogue revealed a big twist that I did not see coming! Fast-paced, fun read!

Fantastic, edge of your seat, crazy good story. I loved all of the characters, but for entirely different reasons.

Jade was a down on her luck, pregnant, depressed mom with no plans for her future except trying to survive. Avril is a wealthy, determined, self-centered businesswoman who wants nothing more than a baby. When these women end up in the same hospital to give birth, with only a curtain between them, Jade recognizes Avril and her husband from a long ago altercation, and it’s the perfect opportunity for revenge.

It’s hard not to cheer on Jade, even though I felt bad doing so. She’s far from perfect. But Avril is ruthless and deserves what she gets, sort of.

This is a quick read, it’s gripping all the way through, and that ending is definitely unexpected. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced reader copy.

It must be a Tuesday there’s a new Dan Hurst book to review 😀 I jest but the truth is this author could stand as the explanation for the dictionary meaning of the word prolific and it’s a good job 1.I read quick 2. he writes such good books

I read a comment by another fan who said this was, to date, their favourite by DH, mmmm I thought that’s a big say when there has been so much gone before….however I have to agree, this is one of the best by the author

All the usual elements are there that make his novels so addictive but there is a darker side to it ( I said that about another recent one but this is darker still ) more than a tinge of shock and raised eyebrows and feeling of disquiet

The title needs no further explanation but the reasons behind it are surprising, I loved the Devil, Prada ish vibe for a small part of the story and really felt for Jade ( Mum 1 ) and went against Avril ( Mum 2 )

I think as you read you will make your opinions and feelings towards each faitly quickly…..

Call out for Linda, Jade’s neighbour, she tried her best, ‘dowdy’ as she was

Do I need to say its again a Hurst masterpiece? Prob not

Fab
