Meetings with Mozart is a love letter to Mozart himself.
The book is written in monthly instalments about Horace, a retired opera director and his group of Mozart enthusiasts to help them discover his idol’s profound contribution to humanity – love.
While I loved the concept of this book, I found the writing to be lacking in show and rather more telling in substance. it kept me engaged with a lively group of characters but the abrupt stop start of the instalments kept bumping me out of the story. I feel like this could have been a brilliant novel if a little more time had been spent lovingly fleshing the characters out more to provide a little more sustenance to this story.
Saying that it was still an enjoyable novel and learning about Mozart was quite fascinating as I am not a music aficionado. The descriptions of Africa are spot on and allow the reader to imagine the colour and culture of the country.
Thank you to NetGalley for the review copy, this was a pleasant read which kept me mostly entertained.

While Meetings with Mozart offers an intriguing premise, the execution didn’t quite work for me. The book's voice felt a bit off, making it hard to fully connect with the story. I also found the point of view confusing, which detracted from my overall enjoyment. However, I think big fans of Mozart and those deeply interested in his life and legacy would appreciate the book more. Though it wasn’t the right fit for me, it may resonate better with readers who have a strong passion for classical music and historical narratives. Thank you to Netgalley for a free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a really unique book and I think it’ll appeal to a niche group. The character’s interests are very high-brow but they are lovely people enjoying interesting conversations. I particularly enjoyed reading about the beautiful landscape of South Africa.
Thank you to The Book Guild and NetGalley for this ARC.
