The Enigma Grid offers a collection of short, speculative fiction stories that dive into the improbable and mystical, blending sci-fi, fantasy, and dystopia. While some stories are engaging and thought-provoking, others feel a bit repetitive or over-explained, making it a hit-or-miss experience for some readers.

These short stories a range of speculative fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, dystopia and more; each only a couple of pages long.
Most of them sadly fell flat for me. They were too on the nose, the ending too neatly wrapped up and a bit over-explained at times. The "twists" were nicely foreshadowed, but after the initial confirmation the story usually went on for another page or so, making the ending overly long for a short story of that length.
I also thought the themes were just a bit too standard and repeated throughout the book.

this is a pretty good book! It is a collection of short stories, some better than others, but overall the collection is good! It is similar to life now and what possibilities could happen. It is a well written book!!

Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!

This novel was outlandish in the best way to be and also a diverse addition to my 2025 year of books! The Enigma Grid by Craig S. Wilson is a remarkable short story sequence that maintains the same tone and feel throughout the novel. I enjoyed reading it because my attention span is also not great, so the format was nice for a reader like myself. Reading the book was lovely, and I like that I was re-introduced to this type of format again through this excellent book. It reminded me of reels or TikTok because it is almost a blurb into the otherworldly characters you follow during that chapter.

Written as a mixture of American Horror Story (format) and a splash of Dark Matter, his book covered an array of topics, and I felt like I was reading an actual history book as I read it. Which at times was actually difficult, and there were some hard chapters to get through due to sensitive topics! It's nothing too crazy and readable, but I just wanted to give you a warning. the chapters are also so short and engaging it makes the writing easier to digest.

Author Craig S. Wilson seems to have many talents. According to his website, he creates unimaginable art using various media. I liked this book and could definitely see myself picking up another. There really has never been a book I could compare this to in a good way! It also incorporates conspiracy theories, which is a fun aspect. I would consider it otherworldly, but it is strange how much it mimics our own world and reality. I would give this one four stars!

The Enigma Grid by Craig S. Wilson wasn’t what I expected. I didn’t realize it was essentially a collection of very short stories, and since I’m not generally a fan of short stories, this one didn’t quite land for me. That’s more of a personal preference, though.

The book is a quick read, and there are some intriguing ideas and moments that hint at something larger, but I struggled to fully connect with it. I found it difficult to understand what the author was trying to achieve overall, and the moral dilemmas and otherworldly settings didn’t resonate as much as I’d hoped.

For readers who enjoy abstract, bite-sized reflections on the improbable and the mystical, this might be worth checking out. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me, but I do think that's it's more my preferences than anything!
