Max is officially my favorite! He manipulates circumstances so that he can get his friend Sloane back in his life to have closure on their past. They are both hurting souls, his from being a son of scandal and hers from her traumatic childhood. Along with Sloane's niece Ivy they learn to heal. I love the spark-y moments in the story and Max's ways of getting Sloane to interact with him. This is a story of misunderstandings, forgiveness and healing and Ivy's search for her birth father. A very sweet and inspirational romance.

This is a book with several side stories, in addition to the main one. Characters from the previous books make guest appearances and of course it’s always fun to reconnect with old friends.
The main themes are broken relationships and the consequences of holding on to unforgiveness. But also the negative effect your upbringing can have on the rest of your life, if you let it, and lies we believe. The road to healing and forgiveness is not an easy one and everyone who has been in such a situation (and who hasn’t?) will be able to relate and take home some wise lessons.
Favorite characters: Max and Ivy
Favorite wording: Ivy can’t go to the pumpkin festival. “Oh what a shame,” Max said. Ivy couldn’t see that the expression he directed to Sloane indicated that he viewed Ivy’s inability to attend as the opposite of a shame.
Favorite line: “There are times when something happens in life and you have no idea while it’s happening how important it will be.”
I also loved how the author weaves etiquette throughout. I used to teach an etiquette class and learned new things. Then there’s Ivy, the rat mom. Both of these quirky details bring a lot of fun to the book and help carry the story.
Like a true “Becky Wade”, there are a few unexpected surprises. Definitely a worthwhile read!
Many thanks to Becky Wade and NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I’ve absolutely loved the Sons of Scandal series, and Uneasy Street was the perfect ending to it! It’s easily a 5 star read and another winner from Becky Wade!
Max Cirillo and Sloane Madison were once close friends and business partners. But after their business relationship fell apart, so did their friendship.
Four years later, Sloane returns to Maine to care for her niece. She's shocked and unhappy to learn that their new garage apartment belongs to Max, and they’re going to be stuck living next door to him for the next few months.
Max pulled some strings to get Sloane nearby, hoping to figure out their past and get some closure. Instead, his plan falls apart, because beneath his cold facade, he still has deep feelings for Sloane.
Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and this one is done extremely well. The tension, banter, and palpable chemistry between Max and Sloane was fantastic.
There were a couple of side stories that added to the story, as did cute Ivy, and appearances by Jeremiah & Remy, Jude & Gemma, and Fiona & Burke.
I loved the romance, the blend of humor and emotional depth, and the way everything wrapped up so beautifully. Honestly, I loved everything about this book!
This can be read as a stand alone, but you'll get more out of it if you read the previous two books so you get everyone’s backstories.
I received a copy from Becky Wade and NetGalley but a positive review was not required. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

Sloane is thrilled to get three months with her niece, Ivy - until she learns that the garage apartment they'll be staying in belongs to Max, the man who betrayed her four years ago. Worse, he apparently engineered the arrangement because he wanted closure after what he perceived as her betrayal of him. She's determined to steer clear of him. He's determined not to let her. And Ivy? She remembers them when they used to be best friends, and would like them to get back to that. But she's also eager to find her birth father, and enlists the help of both Sloane and Max. But even if they can clear the air, can they ever return to the trust they once had?
This was that uncertain quantity, a third book in a series of which I've loved the first two - could this possibly live up to my memory of the first two? Answer: Yes, most definitely. Max has been a bit of an odd character in the previous books, from what I recall, but here we really get to know him - and see him change. His position as the illegitimate son of a famous man is unenviable and brings with it all sorts of baggage, and Sloane has baggage of her own. Throw in their history and you've got an explosive combination. Watching them dance around each other is a mix of amusing and touching, and seeing them finally start to make things work is amazing. Ivy's family hunt is a beautiful addition to the story, and I love that we get some things from her point of view too. All in all, a delightful and moving read, with an inspirational message and a great cast of characters. While it shares characters with previous books, this could be read on its own. I assume this will be the end of the series and am torn between looking forward to what the author writes next and being sorry to leave this series! Highly recommended.
Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

What can I say? Becky Wade is OUTSTANDING. I loved every inch of this book. It was the perfect conclusion to the Sons of Scandal series, wrapping up all the loose ends in a perfect blend of romance, tension, and layers of complexity. And Wade's prose was spot on. Humorous, touching, delightful... she poured it all out so beautifully on each page. I could hardly set the book down!
What I truly appreciate about Wade, is not just that she delivers a story sure to curl my toes with delight, but also that she weaves in themes of faith. Her message of forgiveness added tremendous depth to the plot, making the book more than simple romantic fluff. There is more to Uneasy Street than meets the eye, and Wade has ensured that her story touches not only the heart, but also the soul.
I received this book from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

This is a terrific contemporary romance that centers on forgiveness. This is book three in the series, and while it can be read as a standalone, you’ll have a deeper appreciation of the side stories if you’ve read the first two.
The setup is a little creepy - Sloane’s former friend and business partner, Max, schemes to have her and her niece stay in his garage apartment for a few weeks. However, even though they are not on speaking terms, she knows he is not a danger to them. They have to learn to forgive each other, and several of the supporting characters have similar lessons to learn.
Overall I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to everyone.
This is Christian fiction so expect discussions on God, church, and prayer.
Family friendly.

We meet the third brother in this series, who is trying to get back a long-lost friendship. It was a very slow-moving story. The romance for me seemed forced and while believable, it was just…okay. The best part of the story was a niece who was looking for some family. It was a very small part but held the most excitement and “fun” within the story. While I’ve loved many of her books in the past this one fell flat for me unfortunately.

I really enjoy this series. Uneasy Street by Becky Wade is book the in the Sons of Scandal series.
A delightful and playful romantic comedy that combines humor and chemistry.
This book is absolutely delightful! It drew me in from the opening pages and made it difficult to put down.
There is wonderful dialogue, instant chemistry, great storyline, and storytelling perfection.

Becky Wade's third book in the Sons of Scandal series features Max Cirillo, the half brother of Jeremiah and Jude Camden. He's smart, ambitious and looking for answers from his former business partner. While I've enjoyed the series as a whole I was a bit disappointed in Max's story. He came across as bitter and vindictive, not at all as I saw him in book 2.
Max hasn't always had it easy. Well, that's not exactly true. He did up to age 14 when it was discovered that his mom had an affair with Felix Camden and he was their son. Not only did this information lose the only home he'd known to that point but also rocked his friendship with Jude and Jeremiah, Felix's two sons. This past made Max determined to prove that he was more than a scandal, that he deserved success and happiness.
Enter Sloane Madison. Sloane was the perfect friend for Max and the ultimate business partner. She balanced him in every way and they were going to make it big off their company Libri. However before that could happen, Sloane left the company, left Max. Now she's back on his side of the country and Max is determined to find out why she deserted the best thing they had created and why she left him.
As Max and Sloane help Sloane's niece Ivy with a project, they find themselves spending more time together, giving them opportunities to lay their animosity aside and see each other in a new way.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and freely given.

I loved the final instalment of the sons of scandal series! A great enemies to lovers romance, Max and Sloane were loveable main characters. I particularly loved following the story of Sloane’s niece, Ivy, trying to find her long lost relative… beautiful read. Becky is one of my go to authors now!!

Title: Uneasy Street
Author: Becky Wade
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Romcom
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Synopsis: “In the name of all that was right and holy, she wished she didn’t feel Max’s magnetism. But ridiculously, she still did. Even after all this time.” As former business partners, Sloane Madison and Max Cirillo have a rocky history and no current relationship—until Sloane ends up renting Max’s garage apartment as a result of his scheming. Sloane is keeping her darling teenage niece Ivy for the summer, and they are on a quest to find Ivy’s biological father. At Ivy’s request, Max joins in on the search and Sloane’s attempts at leaving Max in her past are futile. As their paths continue to cross on a daily basis, their failed friendship can’t be avoided. Maybe closure isn’t the only possible path for the future.
Analysis: Becky Wade wraps up her Sons of Scandal series with this clean contemporary romance! While these can be read as a stand alone, there’s so much more if you read all three books because of the side plots and family dynamics throughout the story. I enjoyed watching Sloane’s and Max’s blossom as they faced not just their relationship but also big questions about their personal lives. Coming from broken situations, the two dive deep into their value and worth and where it’s really found. You’ll also get a hint of mystery and a romance thread in a side character! I think my favorite part of the book was just Max’s quipping answers. His response made me laugh many times! But underneath his snarky exterior, he really has a generous heart. If you’re looking for a unique contemporary romance, this is a good one to add to your TBR!
Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Note: One thing I didn’t love is the excessive lifestyle and alcohol use throughout the book. It was a little more than I prefer, but I think it is true to the characters with a celebrity family.

Uneasy Street is a fabulous new book! It contains multiple side stories that were interesting to watch unfold, and characters from the previous books popped up along the way. I loved the conflict and underlying attraction between Max and Sloane. Max taunting Sloane to get her to talk to him was cute. They seemed like there was a deeper wound between them than we saw, but overall their romance was great. Ivy was so precious and relatable.
Thanks for an early copy! All opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved this audiobook and had a hard time pressing pause to live normal life. I had been waiting for Max and Sloane’s story ever since I read Jeremiah and Jude’s stories. The whole 3 book series was so well done, and this one tied up some additional loose ends from some other characters while also give us Max’s turn at love. The epilogue was so fantastic!
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

I love this book with its complex characters and situations. Uneasy Street was a great conclusion to the Sons of Scandal series. Ms. Wade brought resolution to relationships for some of the characters but, she also did not wrap up everything to be perfect because that isn’t how life really is.
There are several subplots that make this story intriguing and hard to put down. First, Max and Sloane have to confront their hurtful past and move forward. Next, Max is tasked with finding a priceless antique, and then Fiona, who is in all three books, has to make a choice to start a new chapter in her life or keep things as they are with a dear friend. Last, Ivy who is Sloane’s niece, finds something surprising about her adoption.
Things to love:
enemies to more
second chances
pest problem
shutting off water
etiquette lessons
Princess Kate references
found family
the Golden Rule
forgiveness & reconciliation
Favorite Quotes:
“With grace and elegance, anything is possible.”
“In everything, do to others what you would want them do to you.” Matthew 7:12
I highly recommend this story. You can read it as a standalone, but I think you should read the other two books first to get a better understanding of the characters and circumstances.
infidelity mentioned, drug overdose
I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions expressed are my own with no obligation to write a positive review.

I have absolutely loved the Sons of Scandal series. This book has everything we have come to know and love from a Becky Wade book. Banter, redemption, love, family. Sloane & Max were wonderful & i loved Ivy's story as well.

If you've enjoyed Becky Wade's Sons of Scandal series, you are not going to want to miss this entertaining and endearing conclusion.
Max Cirillo longs for closure. His friendship and business partnership with Sloane Madison ended badly, and now he has the chance to come face to face with her again. Not only that, he has the chance to put her at his mercy. He's not going to be too diabolical, of course. Just enough to make sure he has answers.
Sloane believed she was in for a wonderful, golden summer with her teenage niece Ivy. That was before she learns her nemesis Max is the landlord of the apartment they've rented and Ivy declares she wants to find her birth father. Sloane is able to rely on her faith and good etiquette to pull her through and navigate the twisting path of these various relationships.
I have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of either Max or Sloane, but I loved this story. The side characters and plot really bring it to life. I feel compelled to point out that this is the third straight series where Becky Wade tackles the "looking for biological family" trope, but she does each one so well that I don't mind at all. The side plot about the missing tiara seems strangely out of place at first, but was incredibly moving in the end.
My very favorite part of the story was how Sloane purposefully lived out a rephrasing of the Golden Rule: "Give to other people what you need." In each situation, she evaluates what she needs, whether that be attention, respect, care, or so on. She then gives that to the other party. I found this to be an intriguing rephrasing that I've instinctively lived out in many areas of my own life. I want to continue to ponder this and see how it brings light to the words of Jesus.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book and the narrators do a wonderful job bringing the story to life.
I received my copy of the book from the author. All thoughts in this review are my own.

It's been a little while since I've read a Becky Wade book; she never disappoints. I didn't read the first two books in the series before reading this third and last one. I definitely will be reading the other two books but I didn't feel like I missed out on Sloane and Max's story because I jumped into the series at the last moment.
I didn't like Max or Sloane when the story started. It just proves how great a writer Becky Wade is to pull me into the current of the story and have me stay invested when I didn't "feel" the main characters. Their complicated past brought out the worst in both of them at the beginning. Sloane was too stuck in her hurt and too scared to see outside of her narrow vision. Similarly Max was completely self-centered (and knew it), self-serving and generally a jerk. His manipulative tactics were too much at times but as I got to know him, I began to understand and sympathize. Sloane's big heart won me over in the end as well. I really enjoyed the subplots - one of a missing tiara Max is tasked to find and the other of searching for Ivy's biological father.
I liked Ivy's third person voice in the story; it added another dimension to her subplot. I was surprised to see Fiona's story woven into the plot but it was nice to see her growth throughout this story (I'm assuming she has a voice in the other books as well since she's Jeremiah and Jude's mother). The gorgeous state of Maine was a fantastic backdrop for the story that spans summer through winter and the faith thread with emphasis on forgiveness and grace was a nice touch.

I loved this book by Becky Wade! A great end to her series and another big hit!! This book is a sure winner in the lighthearted, romantic, Christian fiction genre. This book will grab your interest from page one with likable characters and a plot that has enough twists to keep you guessing. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars! I received a complimentary review copy of this book from NetGalley.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Becky Wade, in book three of the Sons of Scandal, brings a romance that will have you intrigued. Max is a stubborn, refuses to admit feelings, and rich individual. He has also deeply hurt Sloane in the past. Can the two find their way back to each other and resolve years of miscommunication and mistakes?
While the two are navigating through their relationship Sloane's niece has a bit of sleuthing that needs to done. The three will join forces for Ivy in finding some answers from her past.

Becky Wade is a favorite of mine. This book is the last in the Sons of Scandal series.
The third brother, Max and his friend Sloane had a long friendship and business together, until Sloane's sister dies and everything changed.
Four years have passed and Max arranged that Sloane and her niece would move into his garage apartment. Quite the surprise for Sloane!
His reasoning was that he wanted 'closure'.
Max is a pretty controlling guy, who arranges thing so he gets what he wants. So it seems that Sloane will have her work cut out for her in the future.
I did enjoy the mystery, it was woven into the story well. And I enjoyed seeing the relationship of Fiona and Burke grow.
This was a clean story with a few faith elements. I wished there were more.
And I loved the wedding that was included.
A couple favorite quotes:
"The eclipse was a representation of life. You couldn't keep it forever. You had to make the most of it while you still had the chance."
"What you do in private is none of my business."
"It could be your business, if you're the one in private with me."
Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own.
