"Uneasy Street" is the third book in Becky Wade's "Sons of Scandal" series. This particular book centers around formal business partners and now enemies Max and Sloane. While these two started their own business right after college, there was a horrible business split and the two haven't spoken in years. Now, Sloane is unable to avoid Max as she's busy caring for her niece while her parents are away on a business trip. Max is determined to get Sloane back and will do whatever it takes to convince her that he cares for her. He also steps in to help Sloane and her niece as they're looking for hew long-lost dad. Not only does she find her dad, but even an unknown and unexpected twin sister.
While I typically like enemies to lovers books, I just didn't feel the romance between the two main characters. Also, Sloane was very prickly and standoffish and I just couldn't warm up to her. I also found myself skimming through the parts of the books that included the side characters and the tiara search, as I didn't feel a personal connection to that part of the story. I'll still read Wade's books, but this one wasn't my favorite. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Sloane’s character intrigued me. I’ve never read about a character so enthralled with proper etiquette before and it made for quite the unique read. As she put it, “𝚆𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚐𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚎 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚎𝚕𝚎𝚐𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎, 𝚊𝚗𝚢𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚒𝚜 𝚙𝚘𝚜𝚜𝚒𝚋𝚕𝚎.” Her business, My Fair Lady, sounds very interesting!
I loved Ivy! Her character won me over very quickly and I adored every scene that she was prominent in! Her weird obsession with rats had me highly amused. I loved Ivy’s relationship with Sloane 🥹 It was so touching how sweet and patient Sloane was with her, especially with helping Ivy to locate her birth father. Hearing Harper’s story literally had me tearing up 😢
Max was…not a favorite of mine at all. Honestly, I could hardly stand the guy for some reason. He was very off-putting and overall obnoxious. When I heard how everything went down with Libri, I knew that I for sure did not like Max. He was sweet with Ivy, but that’s about all the good I have to say about him.
Don’t even get me started on Fiona, Isobel, and Nicole 🤦🏻♀️ What even?! The more I learned, the more horrified I became! Nothing there was remotely okay and I was so disgusted. I was not a fan of all the mentions of divorce, remarriage, and cheating in this book.
The missing tiara plot line felt completely unnecessary and didn’t add anything to the story.
Top Moments:
⛵️The rats: Kevin and Ricky
⛵️ Turning off the water
⛵️ My Fair Lady
⛵️ Mouse debacle
⛵️ “Darth”
⛵️ Party “crashers”
⛵️ Meeting Ivy’s birth dad
⛵️ Unexpected plot twist
⛵️ Finding Anna
Overall, I did not enjoy the writing style in this book. Beings as this was my first Becky Wade book, I’ll probably give her one more try before I call it quits, but it’s safe to say I was less than impressed. So much of the story fell flat for me because of the way things were written.

I received a complimentary arc of this book from Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op. All opinions listed are purely my own.

Another great contemporary romance from Becky Wade! This book is the 3rd in the Sons of Scandal series. Though the story itself could stand on its own, I do recommend reading this series in order as pieces of the story (particularly Fiona's element) carry over throughout the series. But Max and Sloane's story stands on its own in this tale. Max is the 3rd son of Felix Camden, but he is the "illegitimate" one and doesn't have the Camden name or prestige. Sloane and Max were best friends in college and became business partners, but had a falling out 4 years ago. When Sloane returns to Maine to spend a few months with her niece, Ivy, whose parents are overseas, she doesn't realize that the apartment she's renting for the time is owned by Max, who has arranged for them to re-connect in order to get closure. What he gets is so much more, though. This one had an intensity similar to Memory Lane, where I appreciated the more rom-com feel of Rocky Road. If you have enjoyed this series and preferred Memory Lane to Rocky Road, you will enjoy this story. If you enjoy friends to more and/or enemies to more trope, you will enjoy this story. This has a friends to enemies to more.
In addition to the romance thread, this story has a couple of low-key mysteries going on - Sloane's niece (who was a fabulous character, by the way) was adopted as a baby and has decided she wants to find her birth father, which ends up unraveling a new thread as well. And Felix asks Max to help him find a tiara that has gone missing from his collection for Remy to wear on her wedding day. In addition, fans of the series will be glad to see Fiona's tale, which has been interwoven in all 3 books, obtain some closure as well. Though I would call the faith thread in this one "light", it was present and there was a big theme of forgiveness and grace woven within the entire story. The character development in this story was fabulous as Max and Sloane both grow significantly through the story and I enjoyed Ivy's journey as well. One note I will add - because Sloane gives lessons in proper manners and etiquette for a living, her speech patterns are very polite, which came across as "stilted" in some places. Though it had its place in the story itself and was appropriate within her character, it did take me "out" of the story at some points. All in all, though, this was an overall enjoyable read and a great conclusion to this series. Special thanks to the author and NetGalley for an advance e-copy of this novel. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

A delightful story with lots of deep family content. A huge reminder to be grateful for family even when it's very complicated.

This is the third book in the Sons of Scandal series. I was given an advance copy by NetGalley.com.
I’ve read all three books in this series and loved all of them. This one started off a bit slower for me but I really enjoyed it. I’m glad I kept reading, lol. It was about friendships, love and misunderstandings. Sometimes we give up too soon without knowing the whole story. This book was about second chances and finding love again after giving up on being loved.

Becky Wade is back with another fun ride in a story I couldn't put down. I cared about each of the storylines and really couldn't be sure what would happen in each of them.
At first, I was kind of shocked at how Max treated Sloane but then it was revealed how their friendships fell apart a couple years ago, and you feel for the guy. I think I never really "get" it when a girl has a super great guy friend who is attractive and she just doesn't admit to herself that she likes him. Ultimately, she's been through trauma that rewired her brain and skewed her sense of safety and so on, so you can't really blame her, but it makes the story feel like there's no real barrier to them being together and makes you want to bang your head against the wall.
Sloane has a relationship with God, but the Christian faith isn't a huge part of the book and people who don't have faith won't be overwhelmed by it. Max starts going to church and learns to forgive but never has a real connection with God in the story. Forgiveness is a virtue that has gone out of vogue so this is an important and timely message.
The book is very engaging and I loved my time in its pages. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Uneasy Street is the sixth book I have read written by Becky Wade. This is book three in the Sons of Scandal series. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. I could not put the book down.
The character development was great. I loved getting to pull back the layers of Sloane as she dealt with her past. Getting to know Max more was fun. I enjoyed the overlapping characters in this series.
The setting and storyline were good. I loved being back in small town Maine. The storyline was great. I loved that we got to revisit other characters from the series and ‘catch up’ on their life. I also liked the dynamic of trying to help Ivy find her biological family. It gave a fun dynamic to the story.
The romance element was perfect. The friends to enemies to lovers was perfect. I loved the different dynamics that Sloane and Max’s relationship went through. I appreciated the closed-door element.
Becky Wade did a good job incorporating faith throughout the book.

“I want you to be with me and only me”
This was a sweet ending to a lovely series. I am sad to see this series come to an end but love that each of the boys got their happy ending. Uneasy Street is the third book in Becky Wade’s Sons of Scandal series. Max was a bit of a mystery so I was excited to see that he was getting his own book.
Max and Sloane had history and not quite the good kind. They had been good friends, their friendship had exploded and broken up leaving them apart and angry. They were both together again when Sloane found herself staying in a house on Max’s property.
Sloane had to grow on me a bit because she was definitely a complicated character. But I felt for her as she tried to navigate her life experiences. She was hurting because of her past but it was cool to read about her growth throughout the book. She was challenged to forgive and face her thoughts about her past. I felt for Max. He was jaded because of his past and his childhood. He had hurt Sloane and been hurt by her. Max had to figure out what he wanted in life and how he felt about Sloane.
Although Sloane and Max had history, it was a complicated history and so they didn’t really get along. It was interesting to read about them interacting and figuring out what a friendship would even look like. I felt like the growth of their relationship felt real. They had to learn to mend fences as they spent time together. The romance was definitely a slow burn because they had a lot to work through.
The plot was engaging and I loved the hints of mystery that Wade always adds into her story. I wanted to see how the book would end. I thought that Ivy, Sloane’s niece, was a lot of fun. She definitely had spunk. It was cool to see Fiona again and see the conclusion to her story.
I would recommend Uneasy Street to those who enjoy contemporary romances. The characters felt real and the story was interesting. There were also some faith aspects shown in the book. Uneasy Street is a clean contemporary romance.

Set in a coastal small town, Sloane comes back to Maine for four months to care for her 15 year old niece while Ivy's adoptive parents work out of the country. What she didn't expect was the place she and Ivy will be staying at is the guesthouse of her former best friend and business partner, Max. This novel is the third and final book in the Sons of Scandal series, and I loved seeing how the overall series arc ended!
What I enjoyed:
💚 Best friends to enemies to friends to lovers
💚 Wanting to visit Maine in the summer and fall
💚 Forgiveness and grace (faith elements throughout)
💚 Childhood trauma and grief
💚 Secondary storylines from prior books
💚 Mysteries to solve (adoption related and missing tiara)
💚 Etiquette lessons and sandwiches
4.5 / 5 stars
Closed door / kissing only

What a wonderful ending to a great series!
Sloane Madison and Max Cirillo were once best friends and business partners, building their dream company from the ground up. But four years ago, a devastating fallout led to Sloane being forced out of the company she helped create. While Max turned their college project into a billion-dollar company, Sloane moved on, launching an etiquette business of her own—successful but nowhere near as well as Max.
Now, she’s back in Maine for a few months to care for her niece, Ivy, while Ivy's adoptive parents are away on a special assignment. What she never expected? That the rental home arranged for her and Ivy happens to be the guesthouse of none other than Max Cirillo—the one man she never wanted to see again.
Max wants answers about their past and an apology Sloane refuses to give. Worse, he’s locked her into a rental agreement she can’t escape, ensuring they’ll have to face each other, whether she likes it or not. Determined to ignore him, Sloane quickly realizes that’s easier said than done—especially when Max seems intent on driving her mad at every turn.
I love every Becky Wade book I read. From her very first Porter Family series to the Sons of Scandal series, she has a beautiful way of creating believable, flawed, and lovable characters that draw me in every time. Uneasy Street is no exception!
I loved seeing more of Max after his appearances in the first two stories in the series and meeting Sloane for the first time. Their backstory is both sweet and heartbreaking—two people from broken pasts who don’t realize what a treasure they have in each other until it’s too late. Watching them, reluctantly at first, find their way back to each other and deepen their relationship was so satisfying.
I also enjoyed glimpses of Jeremiah and Remy, as well as Jude and Gemma, from the first two books in the Sons of Scandal series. Beautifully done, Becky! I’m sad to see this series come to a close, but I can’t wait to see where you take us next!

Uneasy Street by Becky Wade is a charming and heartfelt romance about second chances, forgiveness, and the power of unresolved pasts. Four years after a messy fallout, former friends and business partners Max Cirillo and Sloane Madison find themselves living in close proximity once again—much to Sloane’s dismay. When she returns to Maine to take care of her niece, she unwittingly moves into a garage apartment owned by none other than Max, who has become a wealthy and successful CEO.
Max has never quite gotten over the dissolution of their relationship, and he secretly maneuvers to bring Sloane back into his life, hoping for closure. However, his plan backfires as the chemistry between them reignites, forcing them to confront not only the painful history between them but the undeniable spark that’s still there. With Sloane’s guard up and Max’s feelings running deep, the two are forced to navigate their complex past while living next door to each other on "uneasy street."
Wade does a fantastic job of balancing humor and emotional depth, creating a story that is both swoon-worthy and full of heart. The tension between Max and Sloane is palpable, and their journey of reconciliation is relatable and heartwarming. Uneasy Street is a perfect blend of witty banter, steamy chemistry, and a deep exploration of personal growth and healing. This is an enjoyable, feel-good read for fans of second-chance romances and anyone who believes that sometimes the right person can be worth the wait.

Becky Wade's books are a must read for me, even before I know what the book will be about. Uneasy Street is no different. I loved that Sloane was so prim and proper, but would also let a little of her personality through, especially in bantering with Max. The back and forth between them was my favorite and I found myself looking forward to those moments, almost as much as Max! I loved the forgiveness aspect between Fiona and Isobel, which brought tears to my eyes. This was an excellent conclusion to the series and I can't wait to see what else Becky Wade has in store for us in the future.

Sloane and Max are best friends-turned-enemies. Four years ago, their friendship and business partnership ended with a bang, leaving them both feeling betrayed and hurt. Now, when Sloane comes to Maine to care for her teenage niece Ivy for the summer, she finds out that Max has managed to rent her his next-door apartment without her knowing.
Rich and driven, Max has taken their company to the next level and leaves in luxury. On the other hand, Sloane has started her own business and developed a life for herself apart from Max. As they are thrown back together again, they find themselves on the same team again, helping Ivy find her birth father and solving a mystery from Max's past. Quickly, their friendship rekindles and Max realizes he wants something more, much more.
I enjoyed the friends-->enemies--> lovers storyline in this book, and Max's pursuit of Sloane. I didn't find either character particularly compelling, however, and the side characters' storylines about sisterhood often detracted from the main story.

The Sons of Scandal is a series by Becky Wade. Uneasy Street is the third and final book in the series.
This is Max Cirillo's story. He and Sloane Madison meet in college and go on to start a business together. But when Sloane disappears from an important meeting, Max takes it on himself to remover her from the company. Going from best friends/co-workers to enemies.
The story is about betrayal, forgiveness, loyalty and finding love. The characters host so many deep feelings, deep hurts, and distrust. But I loved how Max finds himself and patiently tries to woo Sloane back. It's a great story with Becky Wade's signature wit and humor. Ivy was a breath of fresh air, as the 15 year old niece of Sloane spending the summer with Aunt Sloane while her parents traveled. The surprise that she uncovers adds a dimension of interest and complexity. Ms Wade has a way of bringing her characters to life, flaws and all. Good clean contemporary romance. A novella with a follow up on Max, Sloane and Fiona would be a great addition to the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advanced e-copy of this book. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

I love Becky Wade! This book was such a great way to wrap up the series. I did enjoy that she was able to bring in reminders from the previous books so that I could remember them. I feel like everything was wrapped up well except for Nicole. She finishes as a bitter, angry, and had no resolution by the end of the book. I would have liked to see something change with her and her heart.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC
4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is book 3 in the sons of scandal series by Becky Wade. Highly recommend reading them all and in order! Each book follows each brother. It’s small down contemporary romance and it’s so good. You will not be disappointed.

Uneasy Street is the third and final book in the Sons of Scandal series. While each book in the series focusses on one brother, I do think this is one series that is definitely best read in order. There are particular threads in the story (particularly Fiona's POV) that have been carried on from the first book and I think readers will also have a better understanding of the complicated family dynamics/history if they read from the start.
I have absolutely adored every single book in this series, and this one was no exception. I absolutely loved Max and Sloane together. The two had been friends and business partners in college then had a falling out and hadn't seen each other for four years at the start of the story. This gave us the history that I love in a friends to lovers, but also the fantastic banter that we get with enemies to lovers... so a little bit of the best of both worlds... and I loved it all. Max was such a fun character to read, with his wit and confidence. Sloane balanced him out well and I loved their slow burn. Along with the romance, the story is perfectly blended with some family drama and a few small mysteries too... add in some great faith messages (forgiveness was definitely a big theme) and there truly was so much to love in this story!
**ARC received via Netgalley for consideration. All opinions are my own.

This is the conclusion to the Sons of Scandal trilogy and focuses on Max. The half siblings of Jeremiah and Jude were featured on the first two books and it is highly recommended to read those first.
Ivy was my favorite character in the book. She is a teenage girl who was adopted as an infant and is well loved and adapts well to the challenges thrown at her. She stays with her aunt Sloane for the summer and they end up living at The Gables mansion with Sloane's enemy, Max. Max does everything in the beginning to irritate Sloane and as the book unfolds the reader can begin to see the relationship possibilities change from frenemies to maybe more?
There are a lot of different storylines and characters interwoven throughout the book. The biggest one was whether forgiveness was possible even despite serious offenses in the past.

I was completely captivated by this final book in Becky Wade's, The Sons of Scandals series. I've been waiting patiently for Max's book after meeting him in the first book. I was so happy to see him find resolution and healing. His story was really good! I loved seeing him and Sloane together and learning more about their history and seeing him work towards fixing it and understanding what happened between them.
All the while enjoying Max and Sloane's story, we also get to watch them work together in helping Sloane's niece Ivy go on her own adventure and sleuthing mystery as she searches for her dad after never knowing who he was due to her birth mother dying very young. It was such a tender part of the story and I loved it so much. I'll admit to having some tears, of joy, while reading about Ivy's journey.
And the book was a great ending to all of the stories that have been building since book one. I loved the healing and forgiveness and joy! Definitely a trilogy that I would recommend to readers! These books are best enjoyed in order as they build upon each other. You could probably read them out of order but you would be missing important information.
Content: Some kisses. Talk about adoption, a couple very brief mentions of drugs. Some talk of an affair in the past for secondary characters. This is a Christian fiction story so some talk of church and forgiveness, healing and redemption through forgiveness.
I received a copy from the author through NetGalley via Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Oo. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Happy Reading!!!

This is the third and final book in Becky Wade’s series, Sons of Scandal. If it is possible for you to read Memory Lane and Rocky Road before this one, you will be glad you did, since the three books share a lot of important characters and several subplots that go from book to book. I thoroughly enjoyed this conclusion to the series.
The main story is about Max, the illegitimate son/brother, and Sloane, the main woman in his life. It involves a friends to enemies to friends again trope, as well as good stuff on feeling worthy, giving grace and respect to others, and trust. On top of that is the story of Sloane’s niece Ivy, which involves adoption and coming of age. Then there’s a lost tiara, AND two of the subplots throughout the whole series are finally resolved.
I had several distractions while reading this, so didn’t get to read it as quickly as I’d have liked (I was awfully tempted to get up in the middle of the night to finish it!) Wade has done a very satisfying jog of bringing the series to conclusion.
