I encountered some challenges while engaging with this book from the beginning. In the first chapter, the main character, Mia, a teenage girl, is approached by an elderly woman claiming to be her Nana. This woman informs Mia that her mother is in a rehabilitation center, prompting Mia to travel three hours away in a limousine to live with her supposedly long-lost Nana. I believe that, despite the difficulties present in Mia's home environment, there should have been some form of verification to support her decision to leave.

Furthermore, although Mia does not recall her previous friendships, she reconnects deeply with her friends almost immediately. While these characters appear sincere and do not pose a threat, I feel that Mia could have exercised greater caution in this situation. Consequently, the story felt somewhat rushed from the outset and throughout.

In addition, I found the portrayal of intimate moments in the narrative difficult to read, especially considering the characters are in high school. Although they are described as being 18 and older, this aspect did not resonate well with me.

On a positive note, I appreciated the overall plot and found the characters to be well-developed, particularly the supportive group of friends. However, I felt there was a lack of detail to more effectively connect the various elements of the story.

thank you Bianca Lee Ward and NetGalley for this arc!

First and foremost, this cover is absolutely beautiful and right up my alley thus driving me to request this book. This story is a friends-to-lovers romance focusing on two different perspectives: Mia and Aston. After Mia's mom ends up in rehab, Mia is thrust back into her old life - one she does not remember due to an accident. Throughout her time back, she reconnects with old friends, navigates getting to know her best friend Ashton again, and the subsequent feelings that follow without any memories. Ashton, broodiness and all is coping with his feelings about Mia returning and you are able to see glimpses into his past and how this incident also affects him. Mia and Ashton have to find their footing while Mia also gets acquainted with her surroundings, and the conflicts that arise along the way.

Overall, this book was an entertaining, easy read. I will say that at many points, the story was choppy and moves along rather quickly but you know what... hell ya. This is a nice palate cleanser of a book and I will definitely revisit this author!

The premise for this story really captured my attention as it was definitely up my alley. This is a coming of age, romantic drama with a bit of suspense thrown in.

The beginning started really strong, it captured your attention from the get go and left you wanting to know more. However as the story went on we lost a lot of that suspense. The pacing for this book is the main thing that let it down as I feel like everything happened really quickly and I found myself wanting the scene to last longer.

I really enjoyed the main characters and the dynamic between the whole friend group but I wish we got to explore them in more depth.

Thank you again Net Galley for this arc copy in exchange for an honest review

Our character Mia has to find herself, her life, and all while not having a clue who that is!
It must be so hard to not only plan a future but to do so with coping with so much loss from a past you can no longer remember. Mia returns home and has to trust everyone. And should she?
I don't know whether I'd do so well not remembering my core memories. Or the people from there. So what happens when sparks fly with her old friend? I felt so many questions from good and bad. I wasn't quite sure how forceful the people around MIa were being. But then what else would you do?
I did enjoy this thoroughly. In part because of how much it made me think.
And truly did make me cherish the memories I have been able to hold on to.

This book has a great premise and I really had high hopes for it. I had a really difficult time with how quickly and easily Mia went along with things. For example, some lady claiming to be your grandmother shows up at your house and says your mom is in rehab and without question you pack up your life and get in the car to move in with her?!?! If there was a bit more time developing the character relationships and story it would have gone a LONG way. I felt like the story was rushed and to be honest it gave me whiplash. I really liked the characters and wanted so much more out of them. Overall it was a sweet book with endearing characters.

Screaming. Crying. Throwing up.
Hands down, this is the first book that has ever made me feel so many emotions. I was heavily invested in these characters. Please tell me there's going to be more?! I need more. I read it in one night. Crying my eyes out at some points. Hit me right in the feels.

3.5 ⭐️ for me!

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this gem!

I wanted to start by saying the premise and story line of Fractured Mind was really what kept me going. There was a lot more potential that I was expecting, which is why it was only a 3.5 for me.

Mia was in an accident that resulted in memory loss. Everything before the incident was forgotten, and the life her and her mother lived for 6 years after that was difficult and poor. I would’ve liked to have read about their lives a bit more before her nana “saved” her. You get small glimpses throughout the book, but there could’ve been a more solid basis to grow from.

Once Mia is living in Crown Village again, she is essentially “forced” into old friendships with people she doesn’t remember, without them doing any kind of work to earn her trust. I found that Mia was so quick to forget her best friend from the life she knew (only read about him 2-3 times in the entire book) before her life was taken over again.

While I understand that the people she grew up with still remembered her, there wasn’t really a reason for Mia to jump right into that world. Not one character actually built her trust or talked to her to understand what exactly she’s been through. She was just dragged to all these different events, and when she expressed her nervousness, she was basically told “it’ll be fine just trust me”.

Anyways, my overall opinion is that although the book was a quick and easy read, there were a lot of details that were left out/could have been explained further that would’ve given this book a lot more sustenance and much more enjoyable.

An enjoyable book about remembering and uncovering your past. The book was a good exploration of relationship themes and self-discovery. I liked the characters that Ward wrote. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
