I totally fell in love with the chateau that is in the heart of Provence and heart of this story.

It had been key in both Connie and Lismay's lives for a very long time, and and Lismay needs her goddaughters help, Connie drops everything to help out.

We get chapters from both women's perspectives including discovering just how they bought the chateau and in Connie's case just what happened in her summer there in her 20s.

In addition to getting to know all the staff and trying to come up with ways to keep the chateau experience running smoothly.

Both are women of a certain age or older and have truly lovely stories that i couldn't help but feel they were part of the family afterwards.

I really enjoyed this book and could really imagine the setting and the incredibly hot guy too. And the ending really made me smile.

Thank you to Orion and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I loved nearly everything about this, except how childish Connie was towards the end. Accusing her lover of something with no proof, even becoming physically aggressive. She never did apologise. Apart from that, I enjoyed this book. The setting was amazing and I enjoyed learning how the chateau was brought back to life. With thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a true feel-good romance that beautifully highlights the strength and resilience of women. From the very first page, it offers a wonderful escape to a charming château in France, with vivid descriptions that bring the stunning setting, delicious French cuisine, and fine wine to life.

One of the standout features of the novel is its brilliant dual timeline, which allows readers to deeply connect with the main characters. The shifting perspectives add depth to the story, making it even more engaging. The romance is heartwarming, and the themes of empowerment and self-discovery make it all the more rewarding to read.

Overall, this is a captivating and uplifting novel, perfect for those who love an evocative setting, strong female characters, and a beautifully woven love story.

I really enjoyed One night at the Chateau by Veronica Henry, Its a delightful read that takes you right into its location - the French Provence. You almost feel like you are there in the Chateau and among the very well written characters.

written from two perspectives - Lismay and her god daughter Connie and flits between 1985 when Lismay and Piers bought the Chateau and now 40 years later when they need someone to help out when Piers needs an operation.

An uplifting story, beautifully written, perfect to curl up with on holiday. I've read about nine books by this author and they seem to get even better with each one.

A big thanks to Orion Publishing Group and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book

I love Veronica Henry's writing and this book is no different, just a lovely bit of escapism into the French countryside!

Connie is at a crossroads in her life, personally and professionally, and not really sure what to do, when her godmother begs her for help in running their chateau in France whilst her husband has an operation back in the UK. Connie worked there years ago one summer and has very fond memories, so jumps at the chance to help them.

Once there she finds out there's much more work needed as the chateau is looking very tired, but it was just what Connie needed and she gets to work rejuvenating things and bringing everything up to date, along with rekindling a friendship with the very handsome Remy who runs the winery next door.

Very enjoyable, feel-good story.

This was a really lovely story. I don’t believe I’ve read too much by Veronica Henry but I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more by her in future. The whole chateau storyline was romantic in itself but I feel there could have been more between Remy and Connie a bit earlier on as their relationship came into it quite far into the story I feel.

However it was a fab read and I thoroughly enjoyed it

Veronica Henry’s One Night at the Château is a sumptuous escape to Provence, where romance, second chances, and the charms of the French countryside blend into a perfect summer read. With her signature warmth and vivid storytelling, Henry invites readers to the crumbling yet enchanting Château Villette, a place where lavender scents the air and every meal is a celebration.

The story follows Connie, whose life is in shambles after her husband leaves her, her job folds, and she is forced to sell her family home. Seeking refuge, she heads to Provence to help her godmother, Lismay, at the château. The narrative skillfully intertwines past and present, as Connie recalls a life-changing summer spent at the château in her twenties, including her unresolved feelings for the handsome neighbor, Remy.

Henry's writing is richly evocative. You can almost taste the French pastries and feel the warmth of the Provencal sun. The château itself is more than just a setting; it is a character brimming with history and potential, much like Connie herself. The romance is tender and genuine, offering both the glow of new beginnings and the comfort of returning to a place that feels like home.

Fans of escapist fiction will find much to love here. The book beautifully balances lighthearted, dreamy moments with deeper themes of reinvention and resilience. The supporting characters, from the charming locals to the visitors at the château, add layers of warmth and humor.

One Night at the Château is a delightful read that feels like a mini-vacation. It’s a book that encourages you to slow down, savor each page, and perhaps, dream of your own fresh start under the Provencal sun. Whether you're a fan of romance, French culture, or simply in need of a feel-good story, this novel is the perfect literary escape.

I definitely want to holiday in France now, especially in a chateau!
Connie has been let down by her employers and her ex husband. Feeling worthless she jumps at the chance to escape to her godparents chateau and run it as a B and B whilst they are in London.
The chateau and the business has been neglected and Connie is determined to bring it back to life as a thank you to her godparents..
I loved the way the chapters focus alternatively on Connie and Lismay, thus showing how the chateau changed and how it wove its magic on the occupants .
This is a lively and entertaining read.

Such a lovely read I could almost feel the sun on my skin and smell the lavender. Veronica Henry can certainly set the scene and has you invested in the characters.

Connie is almost at rock bottom when her godmother rings for her help so she travels to Provence to help at out at their Chateau. The Chateau Villette is calling out to be loved again and Connie is the person to do it with her little gang of helpers can Connie turn “ One night at the chateau” around. With the added complication of her teenage crush Remy living next door. Connie is ready for whatever life throws at her

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.

The different points of view from the past to the present gave you an insight to what happened in the characters lives. It was lovely to see the Chateau brought back to how it originally was and to see how Lismay was leading the refurbishment and how it helped her along the way.

Then we met Connie, who had children that were now leading their own lives, thinking what to do with her life now as she’s no longer needed by them so much and her relationship has also ended.

Connie arrives at the Chateau to take care of it for her godparents and it once again, helps her to find her purpose in life as she brings it back to life.

I loved how Christmas was celebrated in the Chateau,

I highly recommend this book.

Another delightful read from Veronica Henry, One Night at the Chateau is the perfect escapist chick lit for the 40/50 something woman. Henry weaves a charming tale of second chances and self-discovery set against the backdrop of a beautiful French chateau. It's warm, witty, and relatable, with characters you'll root for, making it a comforting and enjoyable escape.

Another great read by Veronica Henry, the perfect book to escape dull winter days or soaking up the sun in the summer. Great characters, set in the south of France, among the vineyards and lavender fields.

If you want to escape for awhile, read this book.

My thanks to Netgalley and Orion Publishing group for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced digital copy in return for an honest review.

I absolutely love Veronica Henry’s novels and she is one of my go to authors. One Night at the Chateau was a gorgeous read that I did not want to end.
Connie is coping with the death of her mother and the end of her marriage when she has the opportunity to go to Provence to run her godmother Lismay’s chateau for three months. Lismay and her husband Piers purchased the chateau in the 1980s and turned it into a hotel, now decades later it’s in need of a refurbishment. Alongside Connie’s story is the dual timeline storyline following Lismay and Pier’s relationship and purchase of the chateau in the 1980s.
I adored this novel, Connie is a fantastic character and the secondary characters are all interesting and likeable. I loved the setting and longed to visit Provence and the chateau as I was reading. It was quite an emotional read and I did have some happy tears by the end. I feel bereft now I’ve left Connie and the chateau and would love it if Veronica Henry wrote a sequel !
Recommended.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC,

A thoroughly enjoyable book from Veronica Henry. I haven't read one of her books for a while so I'm glad to revisit this author. Set in Provence in the picturesque village of Barles which I can imagine so well having visited this area in the past. It certainly evoked memories. Ups and downs with well depicted lovely characters, with the exception of one or two. Centred around a B and B in a Chateau, one's imagination can run riot. A little predictable with the romance side of the story but not to the detriment of the read. Light, heart warming and a wonderful book to escape with.

This was my first Veronica Henry book, I have several on my TBR list but this was the one that made it to the front. What a fantastic book to start with. I was hooked right from the beginning, I loved the different view points and the time jumps to fill in the blanks. I loved watching the Chateau come to life and was fascinated in how Lismay organised it all and healed her heart in the process.

Then the modern day view of Connie who I could identify with as an a woman of a certain age and grown children, it’s hard to find your identity again, even harder when your partner decides to leave you for an older woman. Connie still has a lot to give but feels like she has no purpose, once again the Chateaux works its magic and she takes everything in hand and breathes new life into it along with herself.

The side characters really added to the story and loved how they all helped each other be the best versions of themselves. Christmas in the Chateaux was magical and Connie dug deep to realise her worth and find her new dream.

Amazing from start to finish, I think I might have to shuffle my TBR pile a bit and read another one very soon.

What a fabulous story! I really enjoyed reading about the chateau and its residents. The story evolved so beautifully and I think most people will be able to empathise with at least one of the characters (if not more!); I know I certainly was rooting for Connie!
Definitely one for the recommendation pile, add it to your TBR immediately!

Connie has reached a crossroads in her life. Middle-aged, separated from her husband, jobless. Not feeling the best, she takes the opportunity to temporarily run her godparents' château in Provence.
This book is so evocative, you can almost smell and taste the joys of Provence.
A wonderful read.

This was such a lovely story with so much going on in it all the time. Romance, sadness. Excitement and set in beautiful surroundings. I could picture the area as I was reading. A perfect read from Veronica. I do enjoy her books. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Connie is drawn back to her beloved Provence after losing her job and a nasty break-up. When her god-parents invite her to look after their chateau, Connie jumps at the chance for a change of scenery. But when she arrives, has Connie bitten off more than she can chew? The chateau is run-down and more importantly, receiving bad reviews from guests. Can Connie revive it's fortune, with its eclectic mix of staff to help her?

Then there's the distraction of Remy, Connie's fling from 20 years ago, who just happens to run the vineyard next door. As you would expect with Veronica Henry, it's not all plain sailing for the newly acquainted pair.

I really enjoyed reading One Night at the Chateau. As always Veronica Henry finds a new setting and a new twist on a traditional romance tale, and you will love meeting all of the characters.
