Did I highlight most of the book? Yes
Did I fall even more in love with Bec’s writing even though I didn’t think it was humanly possible? Yes, 100% yes
Did I immediately start listening to the audiobook (ALC) after I have finished my e-arc? Yes - and did I binge listen to it in about 24hrs absolutely!!
Would I give anything for a physical copy from XX / XX? Absolutely
I honestly don’t know how to start because Bec has encapsulated all the feelings of your favourite 90s romcoms and bundled it up into this fabulous book!
Lucie and Aiden both spoke to me on different levels and I love how their story came together. Honestly, watching them fall in love was a joy!
But it was wider than that - the ENTIRE supporting cast were just fabulous and I think I fell in love with each and everyone of them - cannot wait to see what they get up too!
Tropes:
☎️ grumpy/sunshine
☎️ workplace romance
☎️single mom
☎️ opposites attract

I want to thank Netgalley for approving me for the ALC of this book.
This is the first book in a new series by BK Borison and I loved it. The plot, the characters, the spice were brilliant and I found myself addicted to it.
Lucy was a great FMC and everything about her introduction to Aiden was perfection. Maya and Grayson were great secondary characters and they often made me giggle with their one liners and overall attitude.
The added radio show excerpts were entertaining too. I shall be diving into more by BK Borison.

i was so lucky to receive an advance reader copy of “First-Time Caller” and after loving her “Lovelight Farm” series, i had high expectations. i spent the whole book kicking my feet, giggling. Aiden and Lucie have such a unique friendship turned relationship. I loved the radio station setting and listening to their opinion on love, dating and heartbreak. Lucie’s dates were so entertaining and i loved so many of the smaller characters including Lucie’s daughter and her daughter’s two dads!! this whole story was so unique and unlike anything i’ve ever read before, it’s only downfall was being slightly too long. I felt a good 70/80 pages could have been cut to keep the pace flowing!

I adored this book and could not stop listening to it
The narrators were amazing and did a great performance, this is the first book Ive listened to by both of them and I will definitely be checking out more by them
I loved the formatting of this book and how you had small snippets of the radio show in between each chapter
I love BK’s writing and how I can get fully lost in these cozy, wholesome and yet so relatable stories that she writes
Things I loved (in no particular order): the meddling daughter, Jackson and his nervous rambling about weather events on the radio, the closest scene (iykyk), Lucies family and how close they are, Aidens grand gesture at the end
- work place romance - radio show
- single mum
- grumpy x sunshine
- dual pov
Thank you to NetGalley & Macmillan UK Audio / Pan Macmillan for the ALC - all opinions are my own

If you are someone longing for love, this book is for you. If you are someone who feels they are misunderstood, this book is for you.
Becs has a way of writing that connects a fictional story with the sometimes harsh realities of life. Some scenes in this book related a little too much… they felt like a gut punch and others felt like a whole swarm of butterflies were set off inside my rib cage.
From the initial hilariously awkward meeting, him saving her being from being stood up, the longing for each other, their steamy closet scenes and the final call it was PERFECT! The epilogue bringing everything full circle had me kicking my feet.
Aiden Valen you absolute sweetheart, I long to find someone like you. Lucie, I hope to be as strong as you when knowing exactly what I want in a relationship.
The audio narrators were fantastic and fit the characters so well. The radio show snippets were a great addition.

Firstly, the audio for this book is perfection. The radio segments were done so well and I found myself excited for the next one. I flitted between e-book and audio for this read and it made for such an enjoyable reading experience!
The bolter by Taylor Swift is Aidan's song through and through.

'When it comes to you Lucie, there's not much I don't want'
Both our characters are very much Down Bad for each other. This book is sweet and tender to its core, and reading it felt like getting a warm hug. The chemistry between our two characters is explosive, there aren't many spice scenes which I feel added to the emotional depth of the characters. Borison captures the complexity of human emotions perfectly and the gradual development of Lucie and Aidan's relationship from strangers to friends to eventual lovers felt real and pure.
This book was also very well written, it's a joy to see how B.K's writing style has grown since her first novel Lovelight Farms - she just keeps getting better.
Huge thankyou to NetGalley and Panmac for an e-arc and audio arc in exchange for an honest review

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC.
A cute and feel-good book for those that love stories like Sleepless in Seattle. First Time Caller has various tropes: grumpy x sunshine romance, misundestandings/miscommunication, allergic to commitment, a meet-cute. Mix it with some smut and you get a story that is lovable and easy to get invested into.

"I think you're the magic."
There goes my heart. I'm in love and ready for a reread.
Firstly, big fat thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity listen to this ALC in exchange for my honest opinion.
My rating: 5 big, ecstatic ⭐
Read if you like:
- Grumpy x sunshine
- Forced proximity
- Found family
- Single mom
- Perfect, unmatched chemistry
- Slow burn
- Open doors spice
- Bossy (but also soft) mmc
My thoughts:
This was sooooo lovely. The Perfect Valentine's day romcom. And the audio was so well performed, it felt like a movie.
In fact, I NEED THIS BOOK TO BE TURNED INTO A MOVIE.
I loved how mature Lucy is, the found family aspect of the book, the way she's so brave and honest and doesn't jump to conclusions after hearing 3 seconds of a conversation (which was such a nice touch).
Loved the way Aiden's mom's illness is addressed, how that hurt shaped his views on love and vulnerability, and how self aware he is of his toxic tendencies when it comes to it.
Both Lucy and Aiden have nestled into my heart, with their exceptional chemistry and their flaws and irrational fears. That's what makes them so effing relatable.
Cannot wait to have this book in my hands and annotate the hell out of it.
PS: I'm now an Aiden's girl and I'm not ashamed in the least to admit it.

BK Borison has never, and will never miss the mark of my definition of a perfect romance. The emotions, the humor, the steam, always in absolute balance and timed to perfection. My life is a constant struggle between waiting for the next BK book and reading the new BK book, and on and on it goes.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ALC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I'm not typically a romance girlie, I just read specific authors that I enjoy. Let it be known the B.K. Borison has entered that category for me. This was my first book by them and I absolutely adored it! This had me giggling, full on laughing, grinning teeth and smiling to myself. I loved the concept of the story so much. A man that hosts a romance hotline but doesn't believe in love meeting a woman who wants all the bells and whistles but doesn't think she'll get it? Spectacular give me 14 of them.
Ladies and Gentleman THIS MAN KEEPS A LIST OF HER FAVOURITE THINGS IN HIS GLOVE COMPARTMENT SO HE DOESN'T FORGET THEM. If I don't get love like this then I don't want it. Aiden, my sweet, grumpy Aiden is god tier. Lucie is fabulous, hell even her baby daddy is fantastic. I bloody loved them!
Listening to the narration of this was a great experience. I felt like a was a listener of the show and witnessing Lucie and Aiden fall in love slowly, quietly. I liked how healthy the building of this relationship was and how there was drama but it wasn't in your face.
Thought my first B.K Borison it most certainly won't be my last.

This is easily going to be one of my top reads for this year and it’s only January! I know for a fact I’ll still be thinking about Lucie and Aiden in the months from now!
I adored their slow burn romance, how oblivious they were to their obvious chemistry and easy demeanour around one another, they have got be one of my favourite couples of all time! They were easy to relate to and easy to love! Both had personalities that you could help but fall for!
Aiden’s past struggles really showed why he struggled to fall in love and not in the conventional why you’d expect, to be so guarded out of fear of losing one that you love hurt my heart! I loved that he eventually let Lucie break down his walls, with the help from Mya!
Lucie was so fun and still managed to be strong and independent whilst admitting when she needed help! I loved the relationship she had with Grayson and Mateo, and how they’d created their own little family for Mya, but I also loved that she was oblivious to Aiden’s obvious and attraction to her and her own to him, they were cute and fun and when they finally gave in they were so hot!
I loved the radio show meet cute, and the way that that the snippets from Heartstrings in between chapters made you feel like you were listening to the radio show and falling in love with their love story in real time with them!
The audio for this was so good, I loved the radio show noises when they were ‘on air’ between chapters and felt that both actors really captured the personalities of both main characters!

First Time Caller by B.K. Borison is a charming and sweet romance that serves as the perfect palate cleanser for anyone in need of a light, feel-good read. While it doesn’t offer anything groundbreaking or new to the genre, it delivers exactly what you expect: a cozy and enjoyable love story. The plot might not reinvent the wheel, but sometimes that’s exactly what’s needed, and Borison does a wonderful job of crafting a simple yet engaging narrative.
The characters are likable and their chemistry is palpable, making it easy to root for them throughout the book. It's the kind of story that doesn't demand too much from the reader but still offers a satisfying, heartwarming experience. If you're looking for a book that’s low-stress, sweet, and just the right amount of swoon-worthy, First Time Caller might be exactly what you’re after. Perfect for a quick escape without the heavy emotional rollercoaster.
