After an unexpected heartbreak and a nasty accident on a busy Liverpool street, Lara Flynn is desperate to start afresh and leave painful memories behind her. She takes on a new job as a district nurse and midwife at a country practice, in the remote Lancashire village of Ingleside.....

A Fresh Start for the Country Nurse was the breath of wholesome fresh air I had been searching for all summer - it was like sitting down with a cup of tea and an old friend. I loved the characters, the medical setting and the historical accuracy. Little snippets of drama, Lara trying to settle in to a small town and a possible love interest. Can't fault it.

Great for fans of Downton Abbey or Call the Midwife.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.
I'm new to this author and am looking forward to reading more in this series. This is a well developed story with each of the characters being distinct and most of them likeable. If you enjoy UK countryside books that are humorous and yet have a dark part to them, this is the book for you.

A fantastic start for this new series. Lara has moved from Liverpool to begin her new post as a country nurse. She has many obstacles to overcome due to the local community not wanting to accept a city girl. As time go on, she becomes accepted and is proud to work in and amongst the local people. Can’t wait for the new chapter.

I just finished this book and really enjoyed it. It did have similarities to All Creature Great and Small, but enough was different that I still liked it. I liked Lara, and how she kept on going through her .adversities. I will be looking forward to the next book in the series. Finding out that the author had been a nurse and midwife, convinced me she knows of what she writes. Definitely. recommend!

Noooooo it finished I didn't want it to.
It's so good.
Makes you proud of our district nurses back then.
They where good and strong when needed and sweet and kind as well.
Omgosh when the accident happened my heart was in my mouth but I'm glad that both are ok.
The housekeeper sounds amazing like everyones mum Angus is kinda pushing his luck though.
Thank you thank you for a brilliant book.
