Alexander and her friends did what they could do when they were younger to survive, until it all blew up in their faces. a few decades later Alex is married to a cop, has 2 beautiful children and has rebranded her life. Her husband doesn't know how colourful her past was. Then one day it (her life) all starts to come apart. She was handpicked to serve on the jury by someone powerful and she must find the defendant guilty or else.........While Alex struggles with the idea putting an innocent man away, a man from her past, and trying to keep her family safe, she notices her husband is acting pretty sus. Turns out she's not the only one keeping secrets. Who can you trust when Everyone is Lying?

I was on the edge of my seat biting my nails while reading this fast paced story. D.E White is on my "who to read" list.

You can't run from your past. When Alexandra gets called for jury duty and recognizes someone from a party long ago it's scary enough. But then that origami bird shows up on her dining room table and things really get interesting.

Fast paced with sharp dialogue, I was emotionally invested until the very last page.

Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy. It is my pleasure to write an honest review.

Everyone Is Lying
By: D. E. White

4 Stars

Alexandra has worked long and hard to keep her past in the past. Now, along with being on jury duty on a big case, Alexandra keeps finding secret notes around her home. Things only she, from the past, would know. Now, her only thought is to keep the past in the past and keep her present as it is. To protect her future, she will do what she has to do, just as she always has.

This book was so good. It kept me engaged by slowly dropping the past in while giving me a crazy ride during the present. The characters and storyline are so very real, especially in todays world. It could be a true crime story. I found danger and secrets around every corner. Both Alexandra and her husband, secrets are everywhere. It kept me reading. It kept me wanting more. If you love a good psychological thriller, this one definitely fills that mark starting from page one.

Started out okay but it struggled to hold my attention. About a third of the way through, I almost gave up but decided to persevere to the end to see how things wrapped up. The short chapters read quickly. Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t for me. (2.5 rounded up)
Thank You to NetGalley, and Storm Publishing for the pre-approval to read this ARC.

I had never read a book by this author, but the description caught my attention, so I thought I'd give it a try.

How would you handle it if your past came back to haunt you? Alexandra has worked hard to make a good life for herself. She's happily married with two young children. Imagine her surprise when she realizes that her police officer husband also has secrets he's been keeping from her.

There were a couple of little surprises in this book, but there was no big "Holy Crap!!" moment. I was thinking the big twist would come at the end, but sadly, it didn't. I feel like this book could have been so much better if her husband's secret was intertwined with the secret she'd been keeping.

Overall, this would be the perfect book to read when you need something easy that doesn't require you to focus and think too much. I would be willing to give this author another chance.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion/review.

The story was interesting but parts were just really hard to believe (her near-immediate rise to wealth and success; her decision to stay in the exact same city where all the shit went down for 20 years; etc.). Also, this is minor but the author kept writing about women’s hair “streaming down” their backs, or “flying behind” them; in one scene she says two women’s curls were entertwined as they walked through an indoor party? Hair doesn’t work like that, unless they were all sprinting around. I would pick up more of this author’s books if I came across them but wouldn’t necessarily seek them out based on this one.

As with D E White’s other titles, I was hooked from the first chapter.
The further I got into the book, the more I wanted to know the outcome. A great read full of twists and turns that will keep you on your toes wanting to know how it all ends.

I found this story to be interesting especially since this story was about a woman with a past that could ruin everything she’s created for herself if the truth is revealed. I also enjoyed reading about Alexandra’s backstory and getting to view both Alexandra’s and Gareth’s perspectives. The origami birds along with the letters that Alexandra received throughout the story added a nice touch of spookiness. The true killers identity isn’t revealed until the very end but it wasn’t surprising when their identity was revealed due to how this character acted and certain things he’d say.

I really liked Gareth and the way his character evolved. He was my favorite character.

I hated how Harlan reacted after finding out Alexandra was a candy girl. The way he immediately made assumptions about her made me dislike him even more than I already did.

Thank you so much NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

For the last twenty years, Alexandra has worked hard to have the life she always dreamed of - beautiful house, loving family, and successful career. It was everything she always dreamed it could be, until one day she’s assigned jury duty and her past comes crashing back into her. Will her secrets finally come to light or can she keep the life she’s carefully crafted?

Everyone is Lying a story about how the past is never truly buried and when you least expect it things can come to light. Alexandra, aka Lexy, is a former Candy Girl who served as hostess during “parties” thrown by four well off guys, until on the night of the last party when three girls wound up dead. She’s worked hard to forget what she saw but then when serving jury duty one of the men she worked for wound up being the defendant. When she starts to receive origami birds telling her to vote guilty, she knows she can’t keep running. Her character starts off as timid and unsure but by the end of the story she truly shows how strong she is and how she’s grown.

The only part of the story that I wasn’t too invested in was everything going on with her husband. It felt forced and kind of pointless. Otherwise, the story flowed nicely with enough twists and turns to keep you invested.

Everyone is Lying by D E. White is a captivating psychological thriller that delves into the long-lasting impact of past actions on the present. The story begins twenty years ago during Alexandra's university days in Brighton, where she was known as Lexy and part of a group of hostesses called the "Candy Girls." These young women entertained at exclusive parties organized by influential men. One tragic night, an incident led to the deaths of three girls, and Lexy, who witnessed these events, was coerced into silence. She fled with a secret that could ruin powerful figures.
In the present, Alexandra is forced to confront her past when an origami bird—a token from those days—unexpectedly appears, threatening her current life. The book's intricate plot and well-developed characters make it a gripping read. I found it engaging and appreciate NetGalley and the publishers for providing a free advance copy for review, which I am leaving voluntarily.

Another new author for me.
This was fantastic, a bit of a slow burner it also shows everyone has secrets, but do they? Why is everyone lying?? It had me trying to solve the puzzle of what Alexandria was hiding. It had lots of twists and kept me turning page after page.
Is Alexandria husband Harlan lying? But what about?
Will the past come back and haunt Alexandria? Highly recommend

This was a slow burner at the start and it took me a little while to get into but once the tension in the story picked up so did the pacing and then I started to really enjoy it

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Everyone is Lying slowly draws you in and once the story is established the pace picks up .

Alexandra is living the life with her police officer husband Harland, her two children and their successful business.

Everyone has a past and Alexandra is no exception.

Twenty years ago a tragic event happened that would forever shape her life. She was once a Candy Girl earning money for university when it all went so very wrong.

Secrets can be deadly.

When Alexandra finds an orgiami bird in an envelop she knows her past is about to return with a vengenance.

Her husband has his own secrets.

In the meantime Alexandra is called for jury duty and a face from her past appears.

The rest I leave up to the reader .

Everyone is Lying is well worth the read and I cant wait to read more by D. E. White.

Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read and review Everyone is Lying.

Overall I just didn’t care for this book. Parts of it felt very drawn out. And it was really hard to get into it. There was a twist at the end I didn’t see coming, but even then it just didn’t grab my attention.

An enjoyable book which tells the story of Alexandra who has forged a new life for herself in Brighton as she tries to escape the ghosts of her past. But these come back to haunt her when she is called for Jury Duty. But in the meantime, it seems her Husband is hiding secrets of his own. Then, someone her past shows up whom she previously thought was dead.
Lots of interesting insights into the locale of Brighton and some good references to 'Grace' which I enjoyed.

A standalone thriller, Everyone Is Lying (2025) by D E White is a multi-character narrated tale. Alexandra is living a safe suburban life with her husband Harlan, a policeman and two children, Sophie age ten and Tom eight. She has her own beauty therapy business, but a jury summons upends her domestic happiness, as secrets from her past threaten to expose dark deeds and place her in danger. It starts with Origami cranes reminding Alexandra to keep quiet but escalates, as her children are threatened, and then Harlan begins to act strangely. Overall, an enjoyable read and domestic noir, with building tension and surprising twists, which is a three and a half star rating. As always, the opinions herein are totally my own and freely given. With thanks to Storm Publishing and the author, for an uncorrected advanced review copy for review purposes.

While I have read a couple other books by D.E. White, this one drew me in differently. The draw in was slow at first while following the FMC throw two timelines, the past and the present. The real draw came about halfway through the book and and I could not put it down. I finished it in 7 hours easily, and was surprised by the twists and turns coming at every corner. I was genuinely surprised the ending and didn't see it coming. I genuinely recommend this read to any psychological thriller lover, especially if you lived her other works.
