Everyone is Lying is a mystery/thriller book about a woman named Alexandra and her questionable past. I was hooked from the start! Trying to figure out what exactly happened and how it all connects to the present. I really loved Alexandra’s character and her growth throughout the book. This book is based in the UK, which came with some confusion, me being in the US, but I still found the book easy to follow, despite the different use of language. While reading, I kept waiting for the BIG plot twist that I thought was coming, but unfortunately never did. Overall, this was a great quick read, although a little predictable. 3.5 rounded up!

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were good with a good storyline that kept you wondering where it was all going to go. This is the first book I've read by DE White and I'll be looking forward to reading more by the author

Everyone is Lying is my first novel by D. E. White.
To me it is a slow burn mystery that was quite exciting to read. I do like more twists and turns that were in this book but it was still a great read. I enjoyed it a lot as I read it in a day. I do recommend it.
Thank you Storm Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC.

Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of Everyone is Lying by D.E. White due to be published March 31, 2025.

Alexandra has the perfect life: a successful business, a loving husband, and two beautiful children. But twenty years ago, she witnessed something she was never meant to see. Now she has to confront her past and try to destroy some of the most powerful men in the country. Will she succeed or get hurt in the process.
This one was very different from any plot I had read. I thought I had figured it out, but nope, I didn’t. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, it went another way. A page turner for sure!

I enjoyed this one a great deal! In 2004 Lexy is a "Candy Girl," a hostess who earns money by entertaining men. Now in the present she is married to Harlan, a police officer and they have two young children. She finds an odd oragami bird on her doorstep and it reminds her of her sketchy past. Then when she is assigned jury duty, she finds herself on a murder case and believes she recognizes the defendant from her past. Now she must put all those memories behind her as she is bound by the law but it brings back so many memories she has trouble staying in the present! It's a captivating story that I raced through as it's unlike anything I've read!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

This was ok, I didn't love it but I didn't hate it so 3 mediocre stars. There was no. suspense, no relating to the characters, zero communication between Alexandra and her husband. I mean, he springs a surprise purchase on her and she has almost no reaction? And then they go on with their lives? As for the court trial, why was she allowed to be on the jury in the first place if her husband is a police officer? Predictable ending where she seemed to get a grip on herself at the very last minute. A quick read but Ii wouldn't recommend it.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. I think the plot was interesting, I like the mystery and the way that it unravelled I just feel like we spent a lot of time in Alexandra’s thoughts and it was so cerebral that I just didn’t care for her. It’s hard to like a character who spends the whole time stressed and depressed and waits until the last 5% to actually do anything.

I think if this was written from Lana’s perspective it might have been more interesting. Or if more of Harlan’s activities were involved and they were both running against the clock at the same time for their different crimes.

I think it definitely has potential but maybe not the best execution.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. This is my honest opinion.

Absolutely brilliant! A unique captivating plot centred around Alexandra, who is happily married with kids, self employed and a lover of origami! However she is haunted by a huge secret that happened twenty years ago. I found it extremely intriguing and the tension and suspense slowly build with plenty of shocks and surprises. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.

Alexandra has the perfect life: a successful business, a loving husband, and two beautiful children. But twenty years ago, she witnessed something she was never meant to see! Good book! This book had suspense, mystery, murder, dark past secrets, gaslighting, a great who done it and some wild twists! The storyline was interesting! I definitely would recommend reading this book, it wasn’t one of my all time favorite but still a good read! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Alexandra’s perfect life is shattered when she awakens one morning to an origami bird in an envelope in her home. The realization that somebody entered her sanctuary, the place where her children should be safe, is terrifying. She understands deep in her conscience that this bird harkens back to the terrible thing that happened 20 years ago. Now she must be very careful in what she does next.

Though this book has promise, it’s not my cup of tea. I found it too repetitive and slow. The story itself is intriguing, and I did like it, but I didn’t love it. Three stars from me. Thank you, NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the eARC.

Alexander's thought she'd put the tragic events at a party twenty years ago away. But when she's called for Jury service, she recognises the defendant as someone from the party. And when she discovers an origami bird on her dining table she's fully aware that her comfortable lifestyle is going to explode.
I found this fairly fast paced, fairly predictable but enjoyable

It was an ok read it was a bit jarring in places and I felt myself just wanting to get the book finished! I didn’t particularly like any of the characters either unfortunately!

Alexandra’s life was all she had hoped for: a loving husband, two perfect children, and a thriving business. Then, one morning, she found a folded origami bird lying on her kitchen table. Someone from her past had found her, someone who knew her nickname was Birdie, and was about to ruin her peaceful life.
Her thoughts went back to the fateful night and the exclusive party she attended, where three girls died at the hands of some of the country’s most powerful men. Alexandra knew who was responsible for their death, and the origami bird was a warning. Should she reveal the names of the killers, her peaceful life would be destroyed, and she could be the next victim.

I did not care for this book. I didn't like the writing style at all and never felt a connection to any characters. I was very disappointed in this read.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.
