Thanks to NetGalley and Atmosphere Press for the opportunity to read The Writer in Tuscany by Richard Wenzel. A wonderfully written book giving the reader a vivid picture of not only the beauty of Tuscany but of its present geopolitical picture. It kept me interested and engaged

Erik Swanson has decided he needs to isolate himself and try to get his life and himself back in order. He ends up in Tuscany where things are becoming interesting and dangerous as young men are being found dead so Erik decides to investigate what is happening.
That is just the start and once you get started you won't be able to stop. This is a book full of suspense, intrigue, mystery and drama. It will hook you from the start and keep you reading as you never know quite what will happen next. The writing is very good, the story interesting and well, what can I say about Tuscany? Beautiful! What a setting for a mystery for sure.
Thank you NetGalley and Atmosphere Press for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

The sweeping descriptions of Tuscany only add to this book. It's like we've taken a murder mystery to a holiday idle location. Surely murder, mayhem and insidious plots to hurt can't happen in such a beautiful vineyard. And why to these people?
Erik has come away to find his mojo. But soon gets caught up with other fellow guest and then to to the set of ongoing murders all seemingly linked. But like one of his main characters, he's soon get mixed up in this dangerous "plot"

Erik Swanson has selcuded himself to a Tuscan vineyard inorder to find his mojo. Suffereing from writers block he hopes to find solace and his edge.
Young men are being found dead and Erik takes it upon himself to discover the facts. This makes him unpopular and he finds himself in danger.
This is a brilliant action packed drama filled read. I was in awe of the story and the beautiful description of Italy and Tuscany itself is mesmerising. I found myself daydreaming of flowers in a field in the warm tuscan sun.. it was bliss.
The characters are strong and all participate in the story, there are no unnecessary subplots, it just rolls with the tale and ends on a fantastic high..
Bravo

Erik has come to Tuscany for peace and quiet and to write a book. Meeting Iliana, a cellist also at the same inn was good for Eric. The other people holidaying there got on well together. What Eric wanted to do was write a good mystery story and he was playing with ideas and the people he met. He didn’t think he would actually face crime, and deaths but he found it in spades.
When the deaths started to show links to each other and when they were not discounted as accidents or ill health, the scenario could not be ignored by the local police who had not faced organized crime syndicates before. The Mafia was known and understood, but this was a different game, underlying and eroding Tuscan economy, culture and lifestyle.
Lots of twists and turns posing threats to not only hapless widows who owned vineyards but also to those who owned olive groves. The violence was organized and brutal and Eric as an outsider faced more risks than the others. The story was also descriptive of the Tuscan vineyards, people and lifestyle and this added greatly to the story.
