Now everyone knows I love a twin book and this one was an absolute blast! One of the things I love to do is read about that very specific sibling relationship as I’m fascinated by the dynamics between twins and I think there’s lots of scope for a really good psychological thriller surrounding the connection between twin siblings. In The Quiet Sister, we meet identical twin sisters Chloe and Mia. They aren’t the closest of twins and we gradually find out why with a few shocking family revelations. Told in the Then and Now, we start to uncover how those secrets have changed the relationship between the women and what has happened to have one of them hiding away in the seaside town they grew up in.

I thoroughly enjoyed everything about Thr Quiet Sister and have already downloaded another book by Alex Stone based on that enjoyment! It’s an engaging read that didn’t take me long to finish as I was completely lost in the plot and needed to know how it finished. The ending wasn’t too much of a surprise for me but I thought it the perfect ending to the story that had come before. I’m certainly looking forward to reading more from this author-even without the twins!

Is she or isn’t she? Is she Chloe or Mia?
The narrator switched often as did the time between back then and now.
Some things didn’t add up and I was frantically toying to keep track.
I do think Chloe had been given the short stick and I didn’t see much that Mia had to offer except mayhem and spite.
The scheme with Aaron was just wrong.
Still, people get their comeuppance and maybe the right twin will gain her inheritance.

The Quiet Sister by Alex Stone is a really exciting psychological thriller that kept me hooked with its mystery and suspense. From the start, I was drawn in by the concept and the secrets surrounding the "quiet sister." The twists were definitely a highlight, and they kept me intrigued as I tried to figure out what was going on.

The characters were well-developed, and I loved how Stone kept things unpredictable. That being said, I did feel like the pace slowed down a bit, especially at the beginning. It seemed to drag on a little longer than I expected, which made me feel a little overwhelmed at times as I was waiting for things to pick up.

However, once the twists started rolling in, I was fully invested. Big thanks to Alex Stone for such an engaging story, and to NetGalley for the ARC! If you’re a fan of thrillers with lots of surprises, this one is definitely worth checking out.

A twins book that was relatively predictable. It was very slow paced and so slow it was almost a DNF for me. The last 15 percent was fast paced snd exciting. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book

A book about twin sisters that don’t get along? Count me in! I am a twin and I often refer to my sister as the “evil twin” because she’s not a good human. So when I heard about Alex Stone’s newest book, The Quiet Sister, I was all in!

This story follows twins Mia and Chloe and their absolute night and day personalities. Mia is outspoken, a bit of a “pick me” girl, that’s constantly making Chloe feel like the lesser twin. Chloe is a soft spoken, often insecure sister that feels like she never lived up to her sister’s legacy.

The pacing on this one was superb. The build up and history of the characters was spot on! I found neither character likable- often wanting to jump into the book and shake them both. Regardless, I didn’t want to put it down. I can see this one going either way with my crowd, maybe falling into general fiction more than thriller. Overall it was a fun read and I look forward to more from this author. Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood books for this ARC!

The Quiet Sister
by Alex Stone
Pub Date: Mar 10 2025

The Quiet Sister is about twins, Mia and Chloe, the only thing they have ever had in common is the fact they are twins. Their relationship is one of jealousy, resentment and bitterness. The Quiet Sister has lots of twist and turns involving relationships, friendships, and murder. It's definitely a page turner that will keep you up until the ending.

I liked the story, the characters were very likable, all in all I would recommend this book.

Thank you to #TheQuietSister #NetGalley and #BoldwoodBooks for providing me an E-ARC of this book.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Two sisters, although twins, Mia and Chloe, are not the same, as Mia has always been the one that’s outgoing, had all the attention, whereas Chloe, is the one that’s not thought of much and is a quiet, reserved girl, who has led a peaceful life away from her sister.

But, when Mia comes back into her life, she’s made it be known she’s after what she should have got, that also includes the fiancé of Chloe. Which brings back whatever happened in the past.

We are taken back into their childhood to understand what happened.

So, we see how the story develops with secrets revealed, accidents happen and the twists that come, keep you turning the pages.

I highly recommend this book.

My thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Quiet Sister’ written by Alex Stone in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Mia and Chloe are identical twins but they couldn’t be more different in their personalities. Mia is a bully and manipulator who takes everything belonging to her sister’s including her boyfriends, whereas Chloe is a shy and reserved people-pleaser who wants a peaceful life and kowtows to the wishes of others. When tragedy occurs one of the sisters is given a second chance to get away and live the life she’s always wanted.

‘The Quiet Sister’ is a story of secrets, resentment and jealousy and although it caught my interest from the first page it took a long time for the excitement I’d anticipated to materialise. The twins Mia and Chloe were so well-described that I instantly disliked one and wanted to shake the other, while the suspense and twists kept me reading as I wanted to know what had happened. Told in the two timespans of September and October, it helped me understand which twin was which and what had happened to who, otherwise I found it very easy to become confused. This is an engaging thriller with a good conclusion that tied up all the loose ends.

3.5 stars rounded up

To outsiders, twins Mia and Chloe have always been close like good sisters should be. But in private their relationship is one of jealousy, resentment and bitterness. Popular and attractive Mia is always the centre of attention, loved by all. Quiet and reserved, Chloe is overlooked and underestimated, has finally tried to build her life away from Mia and her manipulation. Finally she is happy and content. But then Mia returns and makes it clear that she wants to be part of her sister's life again, to have everything Chloe has.... including her new fiance Scott.

The only thing that Mia and Chloe have in common is that they are twins. They both have completely different personalities. A twisted story of jealousy and resentment. The story is quite predictable. Told in the present day and flashbacks telling us what had transpired in the last few months.

The Quiet Sister by Alex Stone

I always thought that having a twin would be a great thing in life, but after reading this book, it seems it can be more complicated than I once thought. The twists and turns and secrets between these two sisters will keep you on your toes while keeping you guessing how it will end until the last chapter.

3.5- I liked the book but it felt like a million years of build up. I wish we’d had a more impactful climax but it was kinda meh. I also think a last minute twist/who done it? Would’ve really put it over the edge. Resolution was mid.

I'm so happy I don't have a twin!

Mia and Chloe are sisters - twins, in fact. They have grown up together, Mia the more outgoing of the two, popular and outgoing while Chloe is quieter, more reserved. But Mia is a master manipulator, and her behaviour has not made for a smooth relationship and Chloe has been more than happy to build a life of her own, away from Mia. Until, that is, Mia returns and she hasn't changed a bit; she still covets everything and anything which Chloe has - including her fiance, Scott. But Chloe won't allow that to happen, not again . . .

This is a gripping tale of sisters where one deliberately overshadows the other at every turn and it makes for compulsive reading. I was in it's thrall from the beginning right through to the very end. I'm very glad I chose to read this one, it's really well written and merits all five stars and my recommendation.

My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley.

The Quiet Sister by Alex Stone had a compelling premise and some genuinely tense moments. However, I found myself struggling to keep the twin sisters straight towards the end, which unfortunately detracted from the final impact. Secrets, lies, jealousy … this book had it all. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release. Looking forward to more books by this author.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for an Advanced Readers Copy of The Quiet Sister. This is a fast paced thriller about twin sisters with extremely different personalities. But things turn when one twin disrupts the life of the other. This book has lots of twists and turns with the tumultuous relationship of the sisters.

Full disclosure, this isn't the first Alex Ston I've read and after reading her latest offering, The Quiet Sister, it certainly won't be the last.
Difficult to review without giving spoilers away, but the author has absolutely nailed the sibling/sister's relationship. The twists and turns were all there making it a page turning roller-coaster of a ride and, as with the previous novels, there was hope and the ending was particularly satisfying.

A great read.
Highly recommend.

Family dynamics are unique to each family. Some weird. Some wonderful. Some all of the above and more. And there is always what only "your" relationship can fathom. Outsiders just wpuodnt get it. So when this book on sisters came about my interest was piqued. Definitely because it didn't hide the fact this wasn't about liking a sister and the possible nit picking of usual family dynamics. No no these two weren't on each other's side at all.
It was twisty. Pushed you then pulled you in all directions. And what you assume it then hands you a completely different outcome in terms of who's side where we on.
Definitely a great psychological thrill.

I had high hopes for this one—twin sisters, long-buried resentment, secrets, betrayal, murder, and plenty of bitterness—the perfect setup for a gripping psychological thriller. Unfortunately, it took until about 65% in for the story to truly pick up. While the twists were intriguing, the characters were more frustrating than anything else. It left me more irritated than invested, making it hard to fully connect with the story.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for providing an advanced reader’s copy 🤎

Twin drama promised fireworks, but this book fizzled. Mia, the golden twin, and Chloe, the simmering shadow, quickly became a predictable loop of manipulation and resentment. Think of it like watching a hamster on a wheel – you get the point fast, and it doesn't get more exciting.
The characters? Let's just say they weren't winning any popularity contests. Mia was a masterclass in selfishness, and Chloe perfected the art of passive victimhood. The supporting cast felt like cardboard cutouts, popping up only to push the plot along, which, by the way, was about as surprising as a sunrise.
"Twists" were telegraphed like a neon sign, and the pacing? Imagine trying to wade through treacle. The story dragged, repeating itself like a scratched record, leaving me wondering if the manuscript could have benefited from a more rigorous polish.
This book had potential, the whole twin rivalry thing is juicy! But it landed with a thud. Predictable, unlikable, and repetitive. It wasn't a total write-off, but it definitely needed a serious tune-up.
