The Legend of Dark Girl by Reagan Rothe.
This was a quick and easy read. I loved the illustrations. I loved the writing style and the story. Recommend.

Blurb.
In the quiet town of Willow Creek, whispers echo about the mysterious "Dark Girl" who roams the streets at night, spreading fear among the neighborhood children. But lurking in the shadows is another threat, terrifying and mysterious. What will Dark Girl do now?

The Legend of Dark Girl, the newest children's horror story by award-winning author Reagan Rothe, is a tribute to all the heroines out there-no matter how strong and brave they are, they can always use a friend.

I love this little story. There is a scary dark girl who likes to pull pranks and frighten people -- until she meets something scary and decides she prefers to live in the light with her friends. Pranking culture causes unnecessary conflict and this is a great lesson about giving up pranks.
Thanks so much to NetGalley for letting me read this

This book was an interesting concept, but the plot was greatly lacking. I am not certain what the purpose of the book was, and neither was my child.

Thank you so much to Black Rose Writing and a Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

This was a good creepy story for a young audience, you get intrigued instantly and wonder what is dark girl going to do next. I did feel though the story was lacking a few things, such as it needed some sort of big scary thing dark girl did next, we also needed to know who she was and why she was doing what she did.

It was a good read, I did enjoy it for the most part and loved the illustrations seeing dark girl creeping round everyone, that was really cool. She was up to so many tricks I appreciated that we got to see them through the illustrations.

If your child is looking to start getting into creepy, eerie books but they are still really young then this would be a good starting point. It’s very tame, but has enough eeriness at the start to help build them up for really scary things.

The Legend of Dark Girl was a decent story. I feel like it could have used more information about why the alone Dark Girl was doing it.
A good reminder that we need to do things together and support one another rather then being alone.

A kind of Hallowe'en-themed 'what goes around comes around' story, as children try and confront their neighbourhood's brazen, go-anywhere, do-anything wild child – and find that she herself has something that scares her. It's not at all bad, but it and its slightness does leave you thinking you could imagine a better, more engaging telling.
