thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the e-arc!!

i really need to cut down on my sugar intake this was so sweet? i'm a heavy angst reader and this didn't have much but i loved the fluff! the pining! everything!! it's such a straightforward love story between two neighbours, one who often carries the other home while drunk.

i don't normally like instalove but when it's Nagi i totally get it simply because Yu is just the nicest persom ever and he's so soft with him even when they just meet that i couldn't help but root for them. and yes, Yu is a bit oblivious but i absolutely love that he is the one who makes the first move. the misunderstanding in the middle about the (spoiler!!) drunk kiss was a bit painful to read but i loved that it got them together.

post canon them was literally the cutest. not the domesticity, the surprises and the calls when one is away. this has made me feel too single so i am giving this 5☆ for sure. keeping a look out for anymore of this series in the future~

ps. it helps that the art style is very cute too

Thank you so much to NetGalley for this early release copy of Love on the Horizon 1! This was such a sugary sweet, BL manga. This story is kinda set up like a prequel of events that have already happened via a flashback. I think the set up of the romance and how Nagi and Yu's relationship first started is such a unique and interesting take. I really liked how the story was woven and I cannot wait to see how they will continue to fall in love. The art style is beautiful and light/fluffy. I really feel like the tension and romance builds over time that makes it believable to me. I would say there's some almost NSFW scenes, but nothing is overly sexual, but definitely some STRONG suggestions :) I truly enjoyed it, it was short and sweet and left me itching for more! I cannot wait until the next volume!

The author's note said they were hoping it brought readers warmth and fuzziness and they achieved it!!! This was literally so cute, I was giggling the entire time. Need volume 2 right now!!!!

Love on the Horizon is a sweet BL romance between two college friends who are next door neighbors. Even though the story is short you can really feel the the characters like each other. This manga is ground breaking or anything but it is a really sweet fluffy read with beautiful artwork.

Really cute! Highly recommend. The artwork is beautiful and Yu and Nagi are adorable. It's so fun to see how oblivious they both are - and they have a great dynamic. Overall a really enjoyable read!

Just… BEAUTIFUL.
Both characters seem to me very well constructed, with their low and peaks. As well as the story, with moments of emotional depth and also lighthearted humor.
Also, the illustrations are gorgeous and really help to tell the story the author wanted to tell.
I CANNOT wait to read what the future holds for this story.
4.5 stars!!!

Machi Yamashita’s Love on the Horizon is a charming, lighthearted BL manga that embraces the beloved friends-to-lovers trope. I’ve always enjoyed stories that take the time to build relationships naturally, and Yamashita does just that with Nagi Kitagawa and Yu Yamasaki. She crafts a straightforward yet well-developed, character-driven narrative that delivers exactly what readers look for in a manga of this genre.

The artwork is stunning and enhances the reading experience beautifully. The front cover immediately draws you in, but it’s the interior illustrations that truly bring the story to life, complementing the narrative and ensuring a smooth flow. While this is only the first volume, it had the feel of a complete one-shot. That said, I’m definitely looking forward to reading the second volume.

For me, this is a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Love on the Horizon follows two college students who are good friends and next door neighbors, but realize later on they want more than that. I have a soft spot for characters like Nagi and the way Yuu treats him is so sweet! I'm a sucker for cute romances and the way this volume ended makes it already good for the plot, but I liked the main couple so much I'm glad I get to see them for another volume!

There is not much to say on this manga. It's not fantastically mind-blowing and there's not a whole lot involved in the plot, but it's undeniably cute. There are questionable elements, bIt's a pleasant one-shot that will help pass the time.

This was so sweet and adorable I was just kicking my feet the whole time. Seeing Yu slowly realize he actually and truly cares for someone absolutely melted my heart. I cannot wait for more from this series to be released.

It's a really sweet love story between the two neighbours. I especially like Nagi's character, though Saki's great too. The confession part felt a bit rushed. Overall I would have liked the story to be longer, to get to know the main as well as the side characters better as I took a liking to all of them.

3.5/5 rounded down

A helplessly wholesome BL manga between two college students Nagi Kitagawa and Yu Yumisaki.

Their relationship and development is slow and steady, they communicate well, they are very cute together.

The pace is very fast paced but almost to it's detriment, I don't feel like I know these characters. The ending leaves them love stricken and seems like a HEA, this could easily be a standalone, so I don't exactly know how the future volumes will develop. We'll see.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for providing an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own

A sweet slice of life love story. Our characters both have distinct personalities and find a quick growing bond between them despite having just met. They grow closer little by little emotionally and a gentle relationship blooms from that. This is a cute oneshot I think people will easily enjoy, it doesnt have anything overly dramatic in the plot and instead shows a healthy "honeymoon" stage of a new couple being in love.

This was a super cute read. Simple and perfect. I really enjoyed this story. Nagi and Yu are great characters with very different personalities that work well together. Although I would have preferred a slower development of their relationship—to better enjoy those situations that often arise in stories where the feelings of one of the protagonists seem one-sided. The art was also very calming and gentle. Can't wait to read more of this adorable couple!

This was adorable!!!

A few other people have mentioned that the romance moves a bit fast and that it would've been nice to see a little more of their backstory but if you were here for a cute first love romance, this is exactly what you're hoping for.

Super cute, super quick, and I'm curious to see what the next volumes are about (especially since they get together book 1 and not, say, drawn out for 20 books).

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the copy

The blurb made it sound like that it was Nagi's first time bringing Yu home, and that they aren't very close. But chapter 1 starts in the middle of the semester, where they’ve known each other for a while and it’s become a habit for Nagi to bring a drunk Yu home.
However, we do get flashbacks soon to their firsts (first meeting, first time out partying, first time bringing him home, first time falling asleep next to a drunk Yu, etc).

The pace is quite fast, not bothering to make it realistic, throwing in some cliche Tropes in (like losing the keys and catching a cold) to make sure they get closer asap. It was cute, but that felt a little too rushed sometimes – there wasn’t much from their friendship shown where I was like, “ah, yeah, I get it why you’re crushing on him”. And once I did feel their romantic chemistry, they were already a level further.

I’m not quite sure where this series is gonna go, though. As the whole story was pretty cliche and nothing new at all, I feel like it could take any direction. Anyhow it could as well be a stand-alone.
Based on the bonus chapter, I have a feeling this might toggle bad habits in relationships and perhaps gonna take a toxic/unhealthy route. But really, I have no idea what the author is planning.

Their romance was sweet though, occasionally funny as well. Consent was (almost) always present, and even though I did feel the sex scene rushed, it did feel natural.
I love how the mangaka worked with symbols, like showing the clothes on the floor to indicate them having slept together, or Yu grabbing tissues after becoming flustered, without actually showing the act. I love these artistic symbols/choices.
I also love the artstyle in general. The more rounded faces, than it’s usual for Mangas, also add to the lighthearted, soft feel.

This was absolutely adorable and what I was needing to read. A fresh breath of young love 🥰🥰
The cover was what caught my eye straight away and we all know that beautiful covers do not mean great readings, however, I adored the relationship between Nagi and Yu and thought the whole volume was heartwarming.

I would like to have had a bit more of backstory to be able to see more moments of how their friendship grew into a romantic relationship.

In any case, I definitely recomment this to anyone who enjoys BL manga!
