My Initial Thoughts
I loved the fact that straight away Devlin’s grumpy, bossy personality was shown, so you truly get the grumpy x sunshine vibes. He’s incredibly rude. Then you meet Darcy who is quite reserved and you wonder how this will work, so you carry on reading.
Plot
The plot is one that has danger, moments that will leave you giddy, and giggling for joy because there is only the one bed and the forced proximity is HOT, in the frozen mountain. I loved the development of the characters. Even though I feel like its Devlin who has the most growth. I loved the dual POV adding more emotions into the fire.
Characters
Darcy has a lot of self-worth doubts about her size and not looking like a “top model” when it comes to being around Devlin which is understandable if that’s all you see in the media and he acts like a grumpy fool. She honestly has a heart of gold and it’s clear to see and comes across naturally in her character. Devlin however grumpy has a lot of growth within the plot which is really nice to see, even if its all his fault that they are stuck and only have each other.
Recommend
If you enjoy forced proximity and grumpy x sunshine, with a hint of he falls first, then this could be for you.
Favourite Quotes
“This was her life now – her adventure. And she loved every second of it.”
“I thought you’d be more of a poker guy, given your face is devoid of emotion most of the time.”
“there is no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every kindness is a great act and can change a life forever.”
“ I know exactly who you are, Devlin Storm,” she said. “A rude, arrogant, self-centred, pompous arse, who is one hundred percent an only child.”
Favourite Chapter/s
My favourite chapters was 19 and 22.
Summed up in one sentence
A whirlwind of a stormy romance.
Overall Wrap up
This was a great forced proximity romance. The different element of the mountains and danger made it more enticing and I just enjoyed the read. The characters and their development, especially Devlin’s make the plot have so much more depth but also so much more relatable.

Apex billionaires club book 1.
I absolutely loved the cover and blurb of this book. I really did enjoy this book. I really didn't like Devlin at all. Darcy I did like. I didn't like Claudia either. But Devlin did grow on me. I did love the ending. Can't wait for book 2. I definitely recommend.

While staying at an exclusive Alpine resort, billionaire fashion designer Devlin Storm demands to leave immediately in the middle of a severe storm. The reason for his unreasonable behaviour is not disclosed, but when told that all flights are grounded he insists he will fly his own helicopter instead. The rules state that he must have a co-pilot, so receptionist Darcy has to go with him despite her fear and trepidation. Needless to say, they crash in the mountains during a blizzard and must put their animosity aside simply in order to survive. Unlike most people he meets, Darcy is not overawed by either his wealth or his reputation and he finds this refreshing. She sees the man underneath the mask he normally hides behind.
We get the story from both their points of view which enables us to see how their characters develop and change over the course of the book. They bring out the best in each other. Some elements of the story are a bit far fetched, some are cringeworthy, but overall it is an interesting read with some quite scary scenes when they are lost in the mountains during the storm.
I warmed to Darcy right away, and especially liked how she persevered when Devlin’s horrible ex-girlfriend plotted to keep them apart. It took me longer with Devlin, but underneath the arrogant exterior he is not beyond redemption. The epilogue is not what you would expect to happen at all, and brings the story to a satisfying conclusion. I have not read anything by this author before, but definitely plan to read the other books in the APEX Billionaires’ Club series. Thanks to Joffe Books, Choc Lit Contemporary Romance, and NetGalley for a digital copy to review.

The world sees Devlin Storm as a billionaire bad boy, but beneath the headlines lies a man with more depth than his reputation suggests. When he arrives at a remote resort, he’s determined to follow through with his plans—despite dangerous weather conditions. Using his wealth and charm, he convinces Darcy, a resort employee, to accompany him as his copilot on a reckless flight into an impending snowstorm. Predictably, disaster strikes, and the two crash, seeking refuge in an abandoned ranger station while awaiting rescue.
As they endure the storm together, Devlin sheds his playboy persona, revealing a more vulnerable and genuine side. While this shift adds depth to his character, Darcy’s role in the story feels more passive. She remains compliant throughout their ordeal, her reactions often meek and starstruck, making her quick forgiveness of Devlin’s treatment toward her somewhat frustrating.
Overall, the novel delivers a mix of adventure, forced proximity romance, and character exploration, though a stronger, more assertive heroine might have elevated the dynamic between the leads.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing a free advanced copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I have to say that I it is only recently I’ve been opening up to romance and rom-com genres in novel form but given that I have enjoyed this genre in manga form I thought it would give this ago. I’m more of an historical romance girl. I have to say it was over all enjoyable but I did have a bit of a problem seeing or rather accepting the male character’s seeming change of heart. In the first chapter he came off as so rude and conceited. I also found that the romance did seem to happen a tad quick for people who hated each other, I know this is a trope and can happen but I like a bit more build.
That said I did like the way their relationship developed and given the extreme/survival situation of being snowed in it did make a bit more sense. The writing is easy to follow, and hooks you in quickly. Despite my reservations on Devlin I have to say I did like Darcy and her sassy. I did get the feeling that, unlike some stories, if you took the two characters and put them in another setting, the romance wouldn’t stick or work. I think in part this is me not giving Devlin a chance and still seeing him being the arrogant billionaire he started as.
All in all this was a good, quick rom-com that had a nice level of spice. It wasn’t fully for me but I did enjoy it overall. I think fans of this genre will love it though.

This is Book 1 of the APEX Billionaires' Club and as a lover of this genre and trope, I knew I had to read this.
I wasn't disappointed!
The story follows Billionaire Playboy Devlin and quiet Darcy, as they are thrown together on a helicopter ride that ends in disaster... will the pair survive the wilderness... and each other (they're not so keen on one another 😆. )
I loved this book, and it is a fantastic introduction to this series.
Devlin is your typical billionaire who needs a bit of a reality check, and of course, the lovely Darcy is there to help him out.
The pairs chemistry and relationship is fantastic, and I loved seeing this develop, plus you also see both characters develop and grow too which was lovely.
I loved the twist with the crash and the pair being thrown together to fight for survival. Given the chemistry, you knew that it was going to be tough for them but hilarious for the reader!
This is a really lovely book, perfect for romance lovers and people who fancy something a little different!
I can't wait to read Book 2 Katie!

Suddenly Tempted by Katie Evergreen is an exhilarating, heart-racing romance that had me hooked from the first page! This book delivers everything you could want! It has enemies-to-lovers tension, forced proximity, and a billionaire with a bad attitude who turns out to have a lot more depth than his public persona suggests.
Devlin Storm is every bit the arrogant, reckless playboy the world sees—at first. But as the story unfolds, his layers are peeled back, revealing a man shaped by his past, and the more we learn, the easier it is to fall for him. Then there’s Darcy—strong, kind, perceptive—exactly the kind of woman who challenges Devlin and shows him what life could be if he let someone in.
Their journey from enemies to reluctant allies to something deeper is perfectly paced, with real, heartfelt chemistry that leaps off the page. The survival aspect adds a thrilling edge—there’s never a dull moment—but what truly makes this book shine is the emotional depth. It’s not just about romance; it’s about two people learning, healing, and growing together. And while there’s a sprinkle of spice, it’s tastefully done, adding to the story without overpowering it.
The ending? Absolutely perfect. Not only were all loose ends wrapped up, but the glimpse into their future was a wonderful surprise. I loved that it wasn’t predictable but still felt completely satisfying.
If you love adventure, romance with substance, and characters who evolve in a way that feels real, Suddenly Tempted is a must-read. Katie Evergreen has won me over—I’ll absolutely be reading more from her!

Helicopter crash - yes
Stuffy Billionaire - yes
Shy girl - yes
Snobby model ex - yes
I enjoyed reading about Darcy and Devlin. Couldn't put it down for the last 20ish%!
Loved it!

I Loved this book I felt it was neither fast or slow but just right when It comes to the reading pace. The characters and plot were well developed as well.

I could not get the MMC out of the arrogant mean billionaire box he started off as. If chapter one was cut I think it would have helped him when he had a change of heart.

📖 Suddenly Tempted – Katie Evergreen
❄️ Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for the early copy!
A billionaire playboy, a small-town hotel receptionist, and one very inconvenient snowstorm—Suddenly Tempted delivers sizzling tension, forced proximity, and an enemies-to-lovers romance that brings all the heat despite the icy Alpine setting. If you love opposites attract, one bed, and high-stakes survival turned steamy romance, this one is a must-read.
❄️ THE STORY:
Devlin Storm is a billionaire fashion designer, extreme sports daredevil, and a tabloid favorite. Darcy Wainwright, on the other hand, is perfectly content with her low-key life as a receptionist at an exclusive Alpine resort. Their worlds couldn’t be more different—and Darcy would like to keep it that way.
But when she’s forced to accompany Devlin on a helicopter ride over the mountains, their mutual irritation is instant. He’s arrogant and reckless; she’s stubborn and unimpressed. Neither of them wants to be there.
Then the storm hits.
Stranded in the middle of the Alps, Devlin and Darcy have no choice but to rely on each other. Forced to work together to survive, their icy animosity begins to thaw—until they find shelter in a remote log cabin. And that’s when the real storm begins. Because when there’s one bed, tension, and undeniable chemistry, things are bound to heat up fast.
🔥 TROPES:
✔ Enemies to Lovers – Darcy and Devlin’s verbal sparring is deliciously tense.
✔ Forced Proximity – Trapped in the wilderness? Nowhere to run from that tension.
✔ Opposites Attract – He’s reckless and wealthy; she’s practical and grounded.
✔ Billionaire Romance – A tabloid-famous playboy meets a no-nonsense hotel receptionist.
✔ Spicy Romance – The slow burn builds…and then explodes.
✔ One Bed – Of course there’s only one. And of course things get complicated.
✔ Workplace Romance – Darcy technically works for Devlin’s resort. Cue even more tension.
✨ WHAT I LOVED:
❄️ Survival Meets Slow Burn – The tension is sky-high as Devlin and Darcy fight the elements…and their attraction.
🔥 Chemistry-Filled Banter – Devlin’s cocky attitude meets Darcy’s sharp wit, making every interaction addictive.
💋 Plenty of Spice – Once the slow burn ignites, it ignites.
💖 Emotional Depth – Beneath his flashy exterior, Devlin has layers—and watching Darcy unravel them is incredibly satisfying.
💙 FINAL THOUGHTS:
Katie Evergreen crafts a high-stakes, high-heat romance that perfectly blends tension, humor, and heart. If you love forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine energy, and a romance that’s as sizzling as it is swoon-worthy, Suddenly Tempted is an absolute must-read!

This is a billionaire guy / common girl stuck alone in a place trope. This was entertaining, and the characters were likeable.
2/5 Spice Level.

Quite disappointed, I did not like this book at all. The story was very quick, it happened reall fast but I didn't see that much connection between the characters. It all felt very superficial and I found myself skipping through it.
I received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

I do not like this book, and there's a high probability I'll dnf it. I don't like the cliche 'rich guy who has had his trust broken by his money hungry ex'. And the MC was just too annoying and arrogant. I hated how he insisted I'm going out in a blizzard, I don't want to know what important thing he had to do. It was dangerous, and he endangered someone else. The FMC is also a big idiot for following him. No amount of money is worth tour life.
Right now, I've passed 30% of the book, and I don't think I'm going back. Both of the characters lacked depth

Devlin Storm is a member of the Apex group , a group of billionaires that meet up at a ski resort and party the weekend away, these events are legendary but on this occasion Devlin is not here for the party, he has a special mission and no snow storm is going to stop him.
Darcy Wainwright is stuck in this ski resort, after being abandoned by the person who she moved half way around the world for and when she first meets Devlin he comes across as the arrogant billionaire everyone believes him to be.
When the storm comes in Dev.lin has a task to do and needs to fly his helicopter to do it, with no pilot willing to take the chance he offers Darcy a lot of money to travel in the helicopter with him. Blinded by the money Darcy agrees but soon realises her mistake when the helicopter goes down in the mountains, Devlin is injured and they need to get to shelter quickly but when they arrive at the ranger station, they find no radio or anything of any use, trapped together in this cabin Devlin and Darcy start to realise that maybe they might have misjudged each other, but after they are rescued they both know there is no future - or is there.
This was a really enjoyable book to read, I did like the characters and the story kept up a really good pace, I loved the way you started to see both of them stripping away their armour and becoming the real people they are.
Would definitely recommend reading this one.

this was a pretty good book overall, but there’s definitely some things i didn’t love. i rated it 4/5 stars because of how drawn I was to the plot and the characters, but there was just not enough dialogue! i found myself skipping seemingly useless paragraphs to get to the dialogue, and i think this book could definitely benefit from some revisions. this book is also written in third-person narration, which i’m not a fan of. nonetheless, i loved the characters developments of both Delvin and Darcy, and i especially love a snowy cabin setting.

This book was a fresh and unique take on the forced proximity trope and it was beautifully executed. I'm not a big fan of the billionaire trope so I didn't care much for the MMC but the rest of the book was a sweet read that held my attention.

This book pleasantly surprised me with the content and the writing style. I really enjoyed how the characters built themselves up through each other. There are some mild trigger warnings for those going into this but the writing was written in a way that it wouldn't be triggering. It had short chapters and flowing words. I think the author could explain a little bit more of the plot but still it was a pretty good job.
Thank you to the publisher and author for sending me this copy. I enjoyed it.

Starting a romance with a helicopter crash is one way to get my attention and it was a unique way to write the forced proximity trope.
I appreciated that the billionaire MMC had real struggles, and the FMC actually helped him grow instead of just falling for his money. Their relationship felt layered, and I was rooting for them. The enemies to lovers tension was also great, and their slow burn romance had some sweet moments.
Some of the extra drama didn’t feel totally necessary but overall, it was still a fun read.
If you love forced proximity, enemies to lovers, one bed, workplace romance, emotional depth with some spice, this one’s worth reading!
Thank you Choc Lit, Katie Evergreen, and NetGalley for the ARC!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶️🌶️/5
Exhilarating. Absolutely exhilarating.
First of all, I don’t think I was adequately prepared for the ride I was about to be on when I started this book. There was never a dull moment and just when you think it’s over, another curveball is thrown your way. I couldn’t wait for my reading time because I desperately needed to know if these two made it out safely.
And it’s not just their safety that keeps you on your toes. The building feelings between our main characters will have you gripping to the edge of your seat.
Individually, the characters were both great.
Devlin is this billionaire with a bad attitude. The farther we get in the story, the more we learn about him, and his past and the more we learn about Devlin, the easier it is to love him. On top of their struggles to survive and their building connection, Devlin’s backstory was just another layer to the story that captivated me.
Paired with Darcy’s kind and caring nature…. Omg my heart.
We definitely see growth in both characters, but the change we see is Devlin is undeniable. I honestly think Darcy was the perfect person to balance Devlin out and bring him back down to earth.
One thing I want to point out about Darcy is she is not your typical, quirky MFC. She is strong and kind and incredibly perceptive. She was a breath of fresh air.
As for the spice…. I typically read books with ALL the spice but this wan’t it. There was one scene and it wasn’t overly descriptive. I personally am not mad at it. I think it was tastefully done. Honestly, the story was so compelling, the little bit of spice could have been left out and I still would have enjoyed it.
The ending was everything I could have ever wanted and then some. I wasn’t left feeling like I needed more. All of the loose ends are wrapped up perfectly and we were even given a glimpse of their future together. Definitely not where I thought they would end up so it was certainly nice to not accurately predict their ending.
Overall, I loved this book. It completely dominated my attention.
I definitely recommend this read, especially:
If you are someone who likes a little spice and a great adventure,
If you are looking for a billionaire, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, with an HEA,
Or if you are looking to fall in love again.
Hands down, I would read this one again.
