1941. Lily, Kitty and Beatrice all are leading challenging lives. They all end up living in the Dunbar family hotel.. Can they make a new life and help each other through all the ups and downs of a country at war?

A brand new historical saga, my favourite genre as I learn something new in every aspect. This book follows three women's lives during war time and the Dunbar Hotel that intertwines them together. My favourite character is Beatrice as she has a kind heart and a helpful work ethic. It's a charming story full of heart and wit that is the perfect place to take your mind away from your own troubles for a while. I laughed and smiled with pleasure whilst reading and getting to know the characters who I adore. It was nice to curl up with this heartwarming tale and a cuppa!

I don’t think there’s another writer who recreates the Second World War home front as well as Maisie Thomas. Her research is meticulous, right down to the tiniest detail, but its only appearance in her finished books is to immerse you completely in her characters’ stories.
A New Home at the Wartime Hotel is a wonderful and uplifting tale of female friendship. Kitty, Beatrice and Lily come from different walks of life, each with their own challenges, and they are drawn together not only by Dunbar’s Hotel, but by kindness and compassion; going the extra mile. And by disaster too.
I won’t say too much about what happens because I wouldn’t want to spoil this warm and beautifully woven saga. Suffice to say, I’m already looking forward to the second book in the series.

I really enjoyed this book, great meeting all the new characters in what I'm sure will be a fantastic series, I'm looking forward to reading more.

The characters are realistic and believable, and you can certainly feel yourself sharing in their emotions throughout.
Well paced, brilliant characterisation and an ending I didn't expect, this was a wonderful read.

I found this book didn't t hold my attention, it seemed to bounce from one scenario to the next and the characters didn't have any real purpose
There is room for another book as some character's have unfinished storylines.

A lighthearted and sweet story, of three women and the changes WWII brought to all of them. I hope this is the first in a series, and not a standalone!

A great book. The characters were very relatable. Dunbar’s was a family run hotel but due to unfortunate circumstances, it was forced to close. Kitty whose husband Bill inherited the hotel was irresponsible with money, forcing Kitty to turn the now empty hotel into a war time storage facility. She along with good friends try to make life as easy and pleasant for the many unfortunate families in war torn Manchester.

This story grabbed me from the beginning. I was shocked to see that even back during World War 2 that people could buy on credit. It was just as easy to get far in debt. At first I didn't grasp it and then I realized I get offers all the time. No wonder Bill could get so much on credit. To see how his wife, Kitty, struggled, not having a say, was hard to comprehend.
Bills cavelier ways regarding credit destroys almost everything. If it was for Kitty's brilliant idea I would hate to think what would happen. After inheriting the Dunbar hotel, Bill thought he could buy anything. But when the bills come due it will be Kitty that keeps them afloat.
The reader gets to see how things were done during the war. Watch the children play in the building sites. Cry as children are forced to grow way too soon. See how the Corporation helps those in need but turns their backs when someone is accused of theft. How soon others turn their backs had me in tears. I guess innocent until proven guilty was a false during that time.
Kitty opens her heart and the hotel to those that found themselves struggling. After the unthinkable
occurred and she was no longer to run the hotel as is her brilliance left smiling. Even back then a woman could do more than what was expected.
A New Home at the Wartime Hotel was a very dramatic story. The author picked me up and took me back to World War Two England to experience the bombings. I had so many emotions going on I was left speechless. I really hope that the author will write a follow up to this story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Oh this was an absolute joy to read. It was also impossible to put it down. The characters, the storyline... Everything about it was simply adorable. More of the same please!

What a lovely beginning to a new series! This is the first Maisie Thomas I have read, and I loved it. Not too mawkish or unrealistic, the characters are nicely portrayed and each one has their own story. The perfect book to curl up with on a rainy afternoon with a cuppa and a blanket!

Easy and enjoyable read. Perhaps a little far fetched in places and it seemed that all the men in the book were baddies which was shame as it felt a bit unbalanced. I'd recommend to others and hope that the series continues and develops.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley and publishers for allowing me to read an Arc copy of the title.

Get a cuppa and sit down and enjoy this story of women's loves during second world war. I suggest this is the beginning of a fantastic series.

A new home at the wartime hotel, the first book in a new series, and a great book to start it. 3 women, kitty, Beatrice and Lily all live at Dunbar Hotel but all 3 have very different stories to tell. Together they navigate heartache and joy as their lives take on different sound and turns. A great read and already looking forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you to NetGalley for offering me an early peak at this book, set to be released March 27, 2025!!
I loved this perspective on a WW2 era novel. All 3 women are such strong, well-written characters and it left me needing more from each of them!!

A wonderful new WW2 saga book. The book starts with Kitty having a baby called Abbie and the journey she takes with her husband who is addicted to spending money. Lilly is married to Daniel and has a baby who dies just after birth whilst Daniel is away as the war continues. We meet other characters like Beatrice who is the “incontiance ” lady. Thanks to Maisie and her publisher. Thanks also to NetGalley

It's such a delight to see Maisie Thomas back. I've loved everything that this author has written, so I was super-giddy to read this.
I love how well developed the characters are. You always feel like friends at the end of the book.
The storyline for this series is about storage. I never gave much thought to what happened when an area was bombed. Where did all possessions go?
A brilliant start to the series, filled with love, hope, and friendship through the good and bad days

What a fantastic start to a new series set in WW2. Very likeable characters who I look forward to getting to know better as the series continues. I’m already looking forward to the next one.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

A new series by Maisie Thomas set in WW2 following 3 women as they try to make it through the war.
This book gives insight into the war and how people got by on a daily basis. Will be looking forward to the next. Thank you for advanced copy.

Thank you to Net Galley and Boldwood books for the chance to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed the start to a new series that takes place during WWII. This is the story of three women and how their lives come together. It was interesting to see how their lives unfolded and how the war affected them. A good start to a new series!
