The Nanny Share is now the fourth book I've read by Emily Shiner and she knows how to write 'em as it's also the fourth five-star!
Two missing girls. One nanny. Is she to blame?
This thriller is literally just a whole messy web of diabolical characters with hidden drama and features multiple twists along the way - of course I loved it! Purposefully written, there was only one character I enjoyed but I could always empathize with the others (to a point)! And right from the start, there was also only one character I trusted, not necessarily meaning that the others were unreliable, just very very untrustworthy!
I'm a big fan of how Shiner writes female characters! Having standout women to root for or against makes for a quick-reading thriller as I was always desperate to know if my hunches were correct!
Ashley Rose Kaplan delivered a believably emotional audiobook performance. Various voices were created for the multiple points of view, making it easy to get caught up in the unfolding drama rather than focus on remembering who's perspective a chapter was written from.
I can't wait to read Shiner's next release as I'm betting this five-star streak will continue!
(Please note: Shiner approaches this two-missing-preschooler plot with love - always mindfully and sensitively.)
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Bookouture Audio for the complimentary copies to read and review.

So so good! I was hooked from the beginning and listened to the audiobook in one day. I’m excited to read other books by this author!

Title: The Nanny Share
Author: Emily Shiner
Narrator; Ashley Rose Kapkan

Genre: Mystery Thriller
Pub Date: February 21, 2025
My Rating: 3.5 rounded up due to the ending
Pages: 373
This story takes place in Blackwood an exclusive gated community near Los Angeles.
.Story centers on Emma and Nealie, two four-year old friends who both go missing.
On a typical morning, Emma’s parents Carrie and Daniel Everett go to wake her only find their daughter gone.
On the same street, Nealie’s parents Alison and Ryan Brown also discover their daughter gone.
Both sets of parents call Julie Station the nanny they share!
These parents are not your ideal loving parents~ in fact it seems all the character have a secret they are hiding.
Little girls don’t just vanish in Blackwood. The police will suspect the nanny. The girls love their nanny and she loves them, and also has a key to both homes!
We find out that Julie and her boyfriend Theo have a side job they don’t want to the police to know about. Since Julie has access to the homes of the wealthy, they become victims as; Theo has done some research and is sure there are some unlawful secrets. So Julie looks around to see if there is something juicy so that they can do some blackmailing.
When the ransom notes are sent to the parents regarding the missing girls, Julie worries perhaps Theo has something to do with it. Julie would never hurt anyone especially the girls she loves.
Everyone except the little girls are nasty characters and have secrets and have done something wrong. Even Detective Kate Martin!
Ashley Rose Kaplan's narration is very good in performing most of this cast of crummy people. However, her portrayal of Alison with her screaming high pitched voice got annoying - certainly not a good sound.
This is my fifth story by author, Emily Shine, so I was expecting an entertaining read!
Most of the story was like watching paint dry but I knew Ms. Shine would come through and she did.
The ending was GREAT!
Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this audiobook.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for February 21, 2025.

First I love the narration. She did a great job. Some of this was predictable but I did not mind at all. The end is fun. I love the twists! I love hating husbands and cops so that made this fun too.

This was gifted by netgalley.
It's a multiple pov's.
It was a bit predictable from about the halfway mark.
Although it was a good story.
A lot of conversations between all the characters which keep you interested.
Twists and turns throughout.
The narrator did it justice.

This was some enormous rollercoaster. The twists and turns turns are huge! Two girls are missing and they both have the same nanny... it must be easy, well think again...
The author has an amazing ability to come up with twist after twist without it being too much. I really enjoyed listening to this story. They are a few suspects and they all have their secrets and thing they aren’t honest about. The end I really didn't see coming. I thought I knew what was going on, but boy, I was wrong.
The characters are well described and you get this eery feeling, right from the beginning, that they all have something to hide. You also feel it is something big. It is a fast-paced wild ride! There's not a dull moment in this book.
It was my first book of this author and it will certainly not be my last...

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 All the stars for The Nanny Share and two enthusiastic thumbs up for Emily Shiner!
In a prestigious gated community, two couples who were, until recently, the best of friends wake up to every parents nightmare.
Ryan & Allison are the parents of 4 year old Nealie.
Carrie & Daniel are the parents of 4 year old Emma.
Emma and Nealie are missing.
Julie, the doting nanny that the couples share is the current closest connection.
Everyone is lying. Everyone is hiding something.. even the detective on the case Kate.
The secrets are shocking. The twists are plentiful, and you'll be piecing this juicy puzzle together until the very end. The character's are so well developed, and even though they aren't the most likable people, I was so invested in their stories... their secrets.
I had the honor of listening to the audio ARC and Ashley Rose Kaplen did such an amazing job narrating multiple POVs and making each character distinct.
Thank you Netgalley & Bookouture Audio!

All I can say is…. Wow! This was crazy!!
There are two families, each with a little girl, four years old. The girls and the parents are/were best friends…until a few months ago…and then it all fell apart.
Strange thing is, they both have the same nanny.
So, when one girl goes missing, and then the other is ALSO discovered as missing…well, to say it’s strange is an understatement…
And so the police start investigating…and then, all the little, small lies begin to come out… and soon, your mouth will be HANGING OPEN like mine was.
I did NOT see this one coming… and the crazy thing is…. The crazy stuff just kept on plowing right through!!
4 big ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me!!
#TheNannyShare by #EmilyShiner and narrated nicely by #AshleyRoseKaplan.

This was great, had lots of twists and turns. The end of the book was the biggest turn I didn’t see coming. I do wish there was a male narrator as well. Because at times I would get confused of what chapter the pov was supposed to be.

Wow that was a wild book. There are many perspectives and twists I didn't see coming. I loved this book. The ending was insane and was not something I ever imagined would happen.

An easy listen full of twists and turns you won't see coming. I was able to guess a few of the twists but there were a whole lot more that hit me like whiplash and I was like umm what? I didn't see that coming! I love books that are a quick smooth listen and this book was definitely one of those. It kept me hooked and questioning everyone.

Emily Shiner does not disappoint with The Nanny Share! This psychological thriller is packed with suspense, secrets, and shocking twists that had me completely hooked from start to finish. The eerie gated community, the unraveling marriages, and the missing little girls create an atmosphere of pure tension, making every chapter more gripping than the last.
Ashley Rose Kaplan’s narration brings every character to life, adding an extra layer of intensity to an already chilling story. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist sent me spiraling.
For fans of The Housemaid and The Perfect Marriage, this is an absolute must-listen. Suspenseful, addictive, and masterfully crafted—The Nanny Share will keep you on edge until the final reveal!

4 Stars - Big thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC audiobook of 'The Nanny Share'! This was a solid 'whodunnit', packed with secrets hiding in every corner. While the character list wasn’t overwhelming, it was just enough that I found myself needing to map out who was who. I even checked reviews to see if anyone else had done the work for me—so if you need a quick reference, here it is!
* Ryan and Allison Brown are married with a daughter, Nealie.
* Carrie and Daniel are married with a daughter, Emma.
* Ryan and Daniel were former colleagues until Ryan fired Daniel.
* Allison and Carrie were best friends but had a falling out months ago.
* Julie is the nanny for both families, and her boyfriend is Theo.
* Kate is the detective investigating the missing girls.
The story was a bit far-fetched at times—I even laughed at a few over-the-top moments—but it kept me hooked! The twists and hidden connections unraveled right up until the very last second, making for an entertaining ride.

If you’re looking for a book that is like a roller coaster with several loops and twists, this is it. All the way to the end, things were surprising me. It was a good concept, but I listened to this one and there were a few times I was lost on which character was narrating. Perhaps this would be better in print to save from that issue.

Two families. Intertwined Friendships. A wealthy neighborhood. Whispers. Lies. Secrets. A nanny for both families. Her boyfriend. The detective. Two young girls go missing on the same night! Who did it? Who is behind it? Why? Are the girls safe? Who knows what? Who did what? What is really going on? The Nanny Share is one of those thrillers for fans of Freida McFadden and Ruth Ware. Twists you don’t see coming. Ashley Rose Kaplan does a great job as narrator. There were a few sections where it seemed like it was over the top especially when Allison was speaking and with the adaption of what seemed to be a southern accent. Otherwise thoroughly enjoyed. The storyline kept me engaged the entire time and I wanted to keep listening to find out what was going to happen next. The author did a great job wrapping up the story and including an epilogue. You don’t have a clue what really happened until the end. Would definitely recommend this one and now want to grab others by Shiner. This would make a great book club discussion.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this one at all. The writing style was just not pulling me in, the dialogue didn't ring true, and no one seemed to be quite alarmed enough that these two children were missing. The narrator was fine, not necessarily memorable, but not part of the reason I didn't enjoy the story.

This book had so many twists ! I really enjoyed the fast paced storyline and the narration. I loved how the author kept making you think you knew what was going on but then another twist comes in. Def recommend this one. 💸

The Nanny Share is about the disappearance of two little girls who just so happen to live in the same neighbourhood and have the same Nanny.
The characters are all hiding something which are drawn out throughout in an intricate plot. Though the entire story takes place on a small "set" the characters are well developed and relatable.

"The Nanny Share" by Emily Shiner is a truly addictive story with dark secrets, unpredictable twists and turns (none of my theories/guess hit the spot!)
I got both the audiobook and e-book from NetGalley so, thank you for both ARCs!

Now that was a ride! I’m not sure I’ve ever read a thriller where so much happens in just one day. There were many reveals throughout, and I did find myself confused at times. I think that might have been because there were quite a few characters to get used to, so I ended up writing down each one and how they related to one another to keep track. This was especially helpful in the early chapters.
I didn’t like any of the characters; there wasn’t a single one with any redeemable qualities. The detective behaved unlike any detective I’ve ever read about before—asking questions in such an unofficial capacity that I can't believe anyone could be successfully sentenced in a court of law! The most unbelievable part, though, was how the parents acted while their young daughters were missing. They were all so selfish. At times, it even seemed like they had completely forgotten that their children were gone. Because of this, I had to suspend my disbelief in order to enjoy the story.
The author included a lot of dialogue, and by the end, I felt like I really got to know the characters. I just wish as much attention had been paid to the settings of the book.
I received an audiobook ARC, so I want to mention the narrator, Ashley Rose Kaplan. Her performance was genuinely one of the best audiobook performances I’ve heard. I always listen to audiobooks at a faster speed, and this book was no exception. I found it easy to listen to at 1.5x speed. I honestly thought the book was narrated by more than one person, which goes to show how well Kaplan was able to portray multiple characters. I was especially impressed by her male tones.
That said, if you’re looking for a popcorn thriller with lots of twists, turns, and intrigue among a large cast of characters, you could do worse than this novel. If you’re an audiobook listener, definitely give this one a try.
Thanks to @netgalley, @bookouture, and @emilyshiner for the Audible ARC of this novel.
