Emily Shiner books are usually hit or miss for me. They read like Frieda McFadden so they’re totally bingeable for a one sitting kind of read. This one wasn’t bad but wasn’t as interesting as a couple of the other books I’ve read by her before. The storyline was fine, there just wasn’t a lot to it. There were a lot of characters and perspectives which I think kept me going for the most part. The ending wasn’t mind blowing but it was infuriating either.

I really liked this book!

I was able to listen to it via an audio from McMillan audio, and while I don’t believe there are any spoilers ahead, I will say there’s going to be because I’m going to be pretty descriptive with certain things.

These characters were not at all likable. You ended up, hating most of them by the end. People were definitely not who they said they were. And in the end, I was completely fooled and stumped, which is my favorite thing in a really good mystery.

I found it hard to distinguish between the two couples, but really really liked the drama and suspense between the two. In the end, definitely didn’t see it coming and made it even more likable.

This book has trigger warnings like murder, kidnapping of children, cheating, and just some crazy ass people.

I definitely recommend this book. If you like something that’s semi-fast paced, will have you on the edge of your seat and leave you reeling!

4.25-4.5⭐️

My first book by this author, I had the audiobook of this psychological thriller read by Ashley Rose Kaplan who does a good job. Unusually for me I found this one better at a slightly faster speed.

Two girls go missing in an exclusive gated community, the common denominator is they share a Nanny.
All of the characters come across as being suspicious in that they all have secrets.
Alison and Carrie used to be best friends, their husbands worked together.
It’s an intricately interwoven plot with several perspectives and quite a lot of characters so I kept a list, although sometimes they are referred to by surname only and it took awhile to identify which surname belonged to which family.
Due to the complexity it’s one that you need to really concentrate on.

Non of the characters are likeable, but that didn’t stop me thoroughly enjoying this wild ride of a story which reminded me of Freida McFadden.

In summary it’s complex, intricate and intertwined fast paced and a wild entertaining ride.

A tale of many twists made for a good read. Two children with a shared nanny go missing. It’s obviously the nanny’s fault … or is it? One of those books which leave you feeling shocked without a nice neatly tied up ending.

This was my first book by author Emily Shiner but will not be my last! It grabbed my attention from the very beginning and kept me guessing up until the end. There were no shortages of twists and surprises.

Thank you to Bookouture for the ARC of the audio version of this book. It was superbly done, and the narrator was excellent.

Woah. What a crazy book. Told in multiple pov with lots of drama and criminal activity in a rich people community but sadly with no likable characters. Everybody sucks. Totally. I didn't see the ending coming.

Well well well this was actually like watching a movie in my head. That's how well this plot, story, and narration all went together fantasticly well choreographed!

The Nanny Share definitely has alot of plot twists it is very fast paced and litrally starts off from the very beginning we are off and running 2 little girls Emma and Neallie both dissappear in the middle of the night from their homes in what is known to be one of if not the safest gated community in the area with no explanation... The girls' parents who lived 2 doors down were old friends, colleagues and the children were friends hence they even had the same nanny so what happened to them? Did they run away? Did someone abduct the children?

It doesn't take long for Detective Kate to get the phone call, and she is immediately at the scene beginning investigations. From there, the plot thickens both sets of parents seem to be hesitatant to answer questions regarding each other, why what are they all trying to hide? Behind the shadows, they all seem to have their own agendas with lots of different secrets and stories to tell that builds a bigger picture alongside of course our lovely nanny. Nothing is really ever as it seems in this suburban well to do street where the hedges are all so perfectly aligned, their lives most definitely are not in the same alignment and sadly all these secrets and lies leads to alot of different things unfolding that could have been prevented... but then we simply wouldn't have this wonderful story...!!

Many thanks to Netgalley & Bookouture Audio for this ELC in return for an open, honest review. Best wishes for publication on 21st February. I'm sure this will be a top seller 📚🎧♥️🙏🏼🌟

Wish I could give 4.5 stars.
I listened to this audiobook and finished it all within a day. With multiple POVs, tension and build up, questioning what is going on... this book delivered. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, new information would come to light and change my assumptions.
Easy to listen to, straight into the plot. I absolutely recommend this book and look forward to reading her other novel!

No one was likable in this story, but I kept reading because I needed to find out what happened to the children. Everyone told so many lies and had so many secrets it made me want to scream. Do these types of friends groups exist? If you have friends like these who needs enemies? But there were enemies aplenty.

The Nanny Share by Emily Shiner ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What an absolutely wild ride 🤯🤯🤯

This book reached out and grabbed me on the first page! By the end of the prologue, i was completely hooked!

As I made my way through the first few chapters, i initially felt as if there were maybe too many different character pov's to keep up with, but the author did an incredible job of skillfully weaving together a complex community web of self-absorbed and meddlesome adults.

Is everyone lying? It sure seems that way! As the story progressed, I could not decide who or what I wanted to believe! Each POV led my mind in a different direction, yet still kept me fully consumed to keep reading to discover the full truth!

What happened to Emma and Nealie? My only (very minor) issue was that at times it felt as if the two missing 4-year olds were forgotten amongst all of the drama between their family and neighbors and their selfish desires to keep their own personal secrets hidden.

This was my first novel by Emily Shiner, but I will definitely be adding more of her books to my tbr! The Nanny Share was one of the best thrillers I've read this year! 👏🏽

Two 4 year old go missing from the same upscale neighborhood and the main connection is the nanny. Every character was unlikable making it hard to choose who to root for (except the 2 kids). While a little outlandish, the twists were very entertaining

Thank you to Bookouture Audio for the ARC!

The Nanny Share is one of the best mysteries I’ve listened to! Well-developed characters and perfectly timed revelations make this book is an absolute must-read for fans of domestic suspense.

What makes The Nanny Share stand out is its impeccable pacing. Every twist is revealed at just the right moment, keeping the reader engaged without feeling dragged along. The suspense builds naturally, with each character’s secrets adding to the overall tension. Rather than relying on unnecessary shock value, Shiner expertly layers clues, making the unraveling mystery feel both satisfying and believable.

One of the book’s biggest strengths is its ability to maintain suspense without creating overwhelming anxiety. The stakes are high, but the story unfolds in a way that feels immersive rather than exhausting.

This book delivers everything you’d want in a psychological thriller: a gripping mystery, compelling characters, and an ending that will leave you thinking long after you turn the last page. Highly recommended!

So so good. Couldn't stop listening. I loved the narrators voice so much. And all the twist and turns that I never saw coming. Five stars.

Initially I was intrigued and enjoying this one and then the story went over the top only to add a maniacal character, long winded confessionals, and convenient yet unbelievable endings. It was a shame because the book was decent prior. I liked learning about each parents secret and was rooting for Julie to make a bargain with the police.

I thought this was a good, easy read. It had me hooked quickly and although I guessed most of the twists, it held my interest. In some parts it was a little long and probably could've been trimmed, but I'd give it 4 stars. I'm definitely going read more by this author.
