Goodreads blurb: "I love being a nanny. But now, the two little girls I nanny for are missing. Soon the police will be at my door—and I can’t let that happen again. I’ll tell them I’m innocent, but will anyone believe me?"

Review:

This was so good! I had to take notes because there were so many characters and so many things going on. The narrator did a great job telling the story and keeping up with all of the different voices and accents.

I did find some things to be a bit repetitive, but overall, the plot was well done, and it was amazing how it all pieced together in the end.

If you like mysteries or domestic thrillers, I think you'll enjoy this book. I know I'm ready to read more of Emily's work! 🙂

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦 will be released on Audible and Kindle Unlimited on February 21st. You can also purchase the paperback format on Amazon.

The amount of Secrets and lies between these 2 couples left me speechless several times during this book. This book keeps you guessing, and just when you think you have it figured out, you realize there's always more to the story. They story follows 2 couples that used to be good friends and share a nanny Julie, a few days per week per child. When both children disappear, the nanny is their closest connection… or so they think. Meanwhile, Julie has her own ulterior motives for interjecting herself into their lives. But is Julie guilty or a pawn in someone else's game. The narration for this audiobook was amazing & really brought life to these characters. Multiple POVs, so just read/listen carefully at the beginning of each chapter to ensure you know who's POV you're currently following, but they were easy to follow. I am interested in more from this author.

The Nanny Share by Emily Shiner is a suspenseful psychological thriller that pulls listeners into a web of secrets, deception, and unexpected twists. The story follows two families who share a nanny, but as the narrative unfolds, the complexities and dark truths behind the seemingly perfect setup are revealed, keeping the tension high throughout.

The narrator does a fantastic job of bringing the story to life, especially with her ability to switch voices and employ different accents for each character. Her vocal range adds a layer of depth to the story, making the characters distinct and memorable. It was impressive how she managed to shift between perspectives, keeping the story dynamic and engaging.

That being said, I personally prefer audiobooks that feature multiple narrators when the book alternates between different points of view, as is the case here. While the narrator did a commendable job with voice differentiation, I feel that having separate voices for each character’s perspective could have made the transitions between points of view feel even more seamless and immersive. It’s a personal preference, but I find that multiple narrators can often enhance the overall listening experience, especially in books with multiple POVs.

Despite this, The Nanny Share is a thrilling ride that I’d recommend to fans of psychological suspense. The twists are unpredictable, and the story builds to a heart-pounding conclusion. If you enjoy thrillers with a lot of suspense and don’t mind a single narrator for the different perspectives, this audiobook will keep you hooked from start to finish.

This audiobook had quite the tangled web!

So many secrets and lies and betrayal for one book. Normally I love a good twist, but so many were thrown at you that it was incredibly unrealistic. Every person in the storyline was intertwined in some way, which felt odd.

I did like the narrators and the different perspectives. I listened at 1.75x.

3.25 stars, for me.

I’ve seen a lot of praise for Emily Shiner’s previous books so was eager to try one.

Two neighbouring families in a prestigious gated community, both share a nanny for their daughters. All is well until the morning the families get up to find their daughters have disappeared during the night.

Missing children? A double kidnapping? There’s plenty going on right from the start. With quite a few character and multiple perspectives it took me a minute to get the characters and their relationships straight, but when I did I got really quite into it. If I had been reading instead of listening then keeping a list would have helped.

Expect an intricate plot with plenty of secrets, grudges and ulterior motives. It’s very much about the characters’ relationships and histories against the background of the search for the missing girls. There are plenty of twists along the way.

The narration by Ashley Rose Kaplan is lively and vibrant and makes for an easy, entertaining listen.

Two four-year-olds vanish from their beds in an exclusive, wealthy neighborhood. Their shared nanny - who has keys to both homes and knows all the families’ secrets - becomes the prime suspect.

This book is all about secrets - everyone’s got one, and everyone’s acting suspicious enough to make you wonder if they’re involved. Some chapters tell you exactly who’s narrating, while others don’t, which adds mystery and intrigue.

There aren’t too many characters, so it’s easy to follow, making it a perfect vacay read! That said, I did struggle to tell some of them apart since they felt pretty similar — and honestly, they were all pretty unlikable! The audiobook helped, though, since the narrator used accents and tone to make them distinct. It was an easy listen at 1.5x speed.

When the secrets start spilling, it’s a lot of fun! I didn’t actually guess whodunnit, and the twists kept me hooked. If you’re in the mood for a light, domestic popcorn thriller, this one’s a solid pick.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for access to this audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review

The Nanny Share by Emily Shiner is a tense psychological thriller with plenty of twists and unsettling moments. The story keeps you engaged as secrets unravel, though some parts feel a bit drawn out. Shiner does a great job building suspense, but a tighter pace could have made the tension even stronger. Overall, it’s a decent read with an intriguing premise that keeps you guessing until the end. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

The Nanny Share by Emily Shiner
Narrated by Ashley Rose Kaplan

When two four year old girls go missing during the night, their parents react in the strangest ways. It's only after we get to know them better that we can see why they might not want to do the smart and best things for their daughters. The two couples are up to their eyebrows in messes they have made of their lives one way or another and they don't want to be found out. Overall, these parents are pretty crummy when it comes to putting their daughters first because that's about the last thing they are willing to do.

The girls used to be watched together by their nanny but when the couples had a falling out, the nanny had to watch each girl individually. Once again, the parents aren't putting their daughters first. Not only are the two couples not getting along, each couple seems to be having marriage problems. There is a lot going on in this story and the nanny is afraid she is going to be blamed for the girls disappearing. Everyone except the little girls have done something wrong, probably more than one thing wrong. My favorite character is Detective Kate Martin, she's doggedly determined to get to the bottom of the situation but she is also eyebrow deep into a past relationship blunder.

Ashley Rose Kaplan's narration is very good for this neighborhood mess. Even with a big cast of characters she is able to give them distinctive voices that aren't overdone. Emotions run extremely high in this whodunit and there is no way to figure out what is going on when so many irons are thrown into the fire. Things are wild and crazy early on and they get more wild and crazy as the story progresses.

Thank you to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for this ARC.

I'm not sure there were many likeable characters in this one.
Maybe the two girls, but strangely they don't feature much, so does that count?
Having the characters be unlikeable just adds extra glee when their secrets are uncovered, because of course, they all have secrets.
Some are so easy to guess, some not so easy.
The action really ramps up towards the end, really does hit roller-coaster territory .
Great narration. Fun listen

The Nanny Share by Emily Shiner

A big thank you to #NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for letting me listen to this audiobook in return for my honest opinion.

About the book: Julie is a nanny for two different families both live in Blackwood, an exclusive gated neighborhood out side of LA. Carrie and Daniel have a daughter named Emma, and Alison and Ryan have a daughter named Nealie.

One morning both sets of parents wake up (in their different households) to discover that their 4 year old girls are missing.

The police are called an investigation is launched. The families use to be very close at one time, but had a falling out. Since the nanny , Julie has access to both of the girls, she is immediately questioned by the police but she swears she doesn’t know where the girls are.

Each chapter is told by multiple points of view: each set of the parents, Julie and her boyfriend Theo, Kate the main detective, and a mystery person who keeps receiving texts from who is assumed to be the kidnapper.

All the characters act super weird and suspicious all through the story. Everyone one of them has something to hide. But who took the girls and why?

What I thought: This story was pretty entertaining with quite a few twists along the way. A couple minor complaints…I really didn’t like any of the characters and found it confusing at times to keep up with all the different characters and the different points of view. Overall it was a pretty decent story and I’m rating it 3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

Ashley Rose Kaplan did a fantastic job narrating this story.

Holy smokes! What a whirlwind of a book!
Two 4 year old girls go missing and the police are trying to figure out where they are. They both share a nanny and their parents used to be friends up until recently.

This domestic thriller will have you on the edge of your seat, wondering what’s going on. The ending is insane!

The only difficulty is trying to remember all of the characters and their relations to each other. Other than that, it’s a fantastic audiobook with a perfect narrator.

Fans of Freida McFadden, Miranda Rijks, and Kiersten Modglin will definitely love this book as well.

Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Bookouture Audio for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this suburban neighborhood of parents behaving badly. Everyone here has secrets. There are some good twists and in the end everything is revealed so the reader can make sense of this one terrible day in a “good” neighborhood. I thought the narration by Ashley Rose Kaplan was excellent. She had a fairly sizable cast to voice and it was easy for me to keep track of who was speaking.

That was a confusing but ultimately really good audiobook. Several points of view made it a little confusing since there was only one narrator but if you follow closely you are able to figure out who is who. I found the abundance of characters to be a lot too.
They do all sort of intersect and the end is a bit of a surprise. Interesting domestic psychological thriller with some unexpected twists!

3.5 rounded up: Two 4-year-old neighbor girls have gone missing in the night. One thing they have in common is their nanny, but what else would connect these two girls and lead to them both being taken? The girl's parents want to have the girls returned but seem to be holding things back in the investigation. What secrets are being kept in this close-knit community?

This was my first Emily Shiner book and what a twisted web it was! I listened to the audiobook, which the narrator was great, but this story is told with many POV and they were a little hard to follow who was narrating on the audio. I think it would have been easier to follow reading it though. The story dives right into the action and wraps up with an unexpected reveal. The middle did get a little bit repetitive due to multiple characters narrating the same discoveries. I enjoyed this book but also struggled with a few things in it. There really wasn't any character that I was cheering for. It is a cast of characters that are all pretty unlikeable but works with the very layered story. The twists kept me going and the ending left me surprised. I will be looking into Emily's other works now too!

'He's not the perfect shiny, wonderful man everyone thinks he is. I swear to you, he has everyone duped. He's fooled everyone, and that includes my wife'

‘if a kid was taken in Blackwood, that only means one thing. It was an inside job’

When two four-year-old girls are cared for by the same nanny, an arrangement that came about when their mothers were best friends living just doors apart, everything seems perfect. But a few months later, the girls go missing, and suddenly, no one is above suspicion. Who is responsible? The list of suspects is long, and everyone has their secrets.

I decided to pair the book with the audiobook, and I couldn’t be happier with that choice! It was the perfect match for this psychological thriller, which I found absolutely unputdownable. From start to finish, I was glued to my seat, desperately wanting to know what happened next.

This story is fast-paced, utterly captivating, and filled with dark, hidden secrets. Every twist and turn left me stunned, and it felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster. The more I read, the more I realized how well everyone was hiding something—making it impossible to guess who was behind the girls' disappearance. The suspense built beautifully, with each page revealing just a little bit more, and I loved how the tension never let up.

The audiobook brought this story to life in such a vivid way, and I really appreciated the multiple points of view. It’s always my favorite part of a story like this, and it gave such depth to the narrative. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, Emily Shiner threw in another unexpected twist that completely threw me off track! I was way off, and once again, I was left piecing the mystery back together. Her writing is incredible, and I’m now eager to explore more of her work!

This book is an absolute must-read (or must-listen)! It's coming out soon, so be sure to add it to your TBR—you won’t want to miss it!

Chock full of liars, where no one at all can be trusted, this is a great story. You'll twist yourself up in knots as you listen and try to figure out the mystery behind the missing girls. With feuds, fallouts, fraud, and fractious relationships this one is fabulous.

The Nanny Share is a wild, twisty thriller that kept me hooked from the start. The nanny at the center of it all seems trustworthy—until two little girls disappear, and suddenly, nothing is as it seems. Everyone in this exclusive neighborhood has secrets, and as the story unravels, the tension only builds.

The Nanny Share by Emily Shiner is an addictive, twist-filled thriller that keeps you guessing until the very last page. The story unfolds in the exclusive Blackwood neighborhood, where secrets lurk behind every locked door. As the nanny to two little girls, the narrator is at the heart of unraveling family betrayals, infidelity, and deception—until the unthinkable happens: both children vanish without a trace.

Shiner masterfully weaves a web of suspense, making you question every character’s motives. The unreliable narration adds an extra layer of psychological tension, keeping you on edge as the truth slowly unravels. The pacing is tight, with short, punchy chapters that make it impossible to put down.

I love Emily Shiner because her books are always gripping and fast paced. This book was no different, I enjoyed all the different perspectives because all of them added so many layers to the story and had me guessing who took the girls. The twist in the end was really well done and I did not see it coming. I look forward to reading more books by Emily Shiner in the future.
