From the opening sentence we are plunged straight into an action packed rollercoaster ride of terror and suspense. A prison van carrying 4 most notorious death row prisoners, is attacked and the prisoners freed. Whilst the leader is whisked away by helicopter, the other three take young prison guard , Amy,hostage and head for the forest. Their murdering rampage commences. In the meantime, heavily pregnant Jenna, has been hijacked by crazed drug addicts and all Black Rock Falls police department are scrambling to get rescue , leaving the escaped prisoners to make their getaway. Dave goes into full protective mode when he realises his family is under attack and ends up having to go on a sniper mission with his trusted handler Wolfe watching his back as always. This is the most thrilling book in the series, with the action so fast paced and action packed, we barely draw breath ! Adding to the thrill factor, we have Beth Katz living with Jenna whilst Kane is away, along with profiler Jo. I was on edge waiting to see if Beth would reveal her phsycopathic side in front of Jenna and Jo . There were touching moments, revealing Beth's gentle, vulnerable side as well as her steely determination to rid the world of murderers. I was literally holding my breath at times and my heart raced as fast as I devoured ever word. Genius story telling!

When I started this book there was a scene that was so unbelievable to me that I wasn't going to finish it. I couldn't believe a 6'5" 260 pound giant of a man could be hiding behind the driver's seat in a new mustang and have a person get in the drivers seat and not see him. I still feel this was preposterous but I don't like not finishing a book so I decided to continue on. The book turned out to be pretty good. This was the first book I read in this series so I was totally unfamiliar with all the characters but I will say the author does a very good job catching you up so you can tell who is who and some background on them. I liked all the characters was certainly impressed with how rich Kane and Jenna must be to have their home secured as such a fort. The part with Beth I found intriguing and am interested in reading her series. I'm glad I finished the book and give it 4 stars.

Fear For Her Life is Book 25 In the Detectives Kane and Alton series. D.K Hood has been writing this series for a long time. I have not read every book, but I have now read several of them. There is a lot of action in this series. There is also a lot of violence--rape, sexual assault, murder, by several different means. This series is basically a good versus evil conflict. In this 25th novel, Jenna and Dave are chasing 3 serial killers and a drug cartel king, who have escaped from prison.
As was the case with the other novels in this series, Fear For Her Life is a thriller. It is well written, but as I finished the novel, I found myself wondering if perhaps it isn't time for Hood to start another series? I am not sure that there is anything else to be done with these characters.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC. The above is my honest review of this novel. Since this is a series, I encourage readers to read earlier novels in this series. For the most part, the characters are the same.

We are back in Black Rock Falls and 4 of the worst serial killers have escaped. They are ruthless and will kill anyone who gets in their way, but all is not as it seems at first.
The action in this book starts from the first page and never lets up. This is a great addition to the series. Thank you to net galley for an danced readers copy.

This is one of my favourite books in this series, DK Hood hit this one out of the park. A prison bus containing serial, killers crashes in the woods, it’s up to a heavily pregnant Jenna and Dave plus their team to sort out this catastrophe before more people get murdered. This was fast paced, twisty and gripping I really enjoyed this book, it kept me entertained and engaged from the first page to the finish. Highly recommended.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"A Nail-Biting, Unputdownable Thriller That Keeps You Hooked Until the Very End!"
Fear for Her Life is everything I love in a crime thriller—tense, fast-paced, and utterly gripping from the very first page. D.K. Hood has outdone herself with this 25th installment in the Detectives Kane and Alton series, and I can confidently say this is one of the best yet!
From the moment Jenna Alton and David Kane rush into the remote pine forest to investigate the abandoned prison bus, the stakes are sky-high. The chilling scene of the lifeless driver and the four escaped prisoners had my heart racing. The thought of the Ice Pick Killer and the other violent fugitives on the loose was enough to send shivers down my spine. But when Jenna discovers that female warden Amy Clark is missing, the tension skyrocketed.
The pacing is relentless, with every chapter delivering new twists and turns. Jenna’s determination to track down the killers and save the missing women is both inspiring and heart-wrenching. The scenes in the dark, unforgiving forest are so vividly written that I felt like I was right there with her, hearing every snapped branch and feeling every icy gust of wind.
What I love most about this series is how Jenna and Kane’s partnership continues to evolve. Their chemistry, trust, and unwavering commitment to justice make them one of my favorite detective duos in the genre. The emotional depth of the story, combined with the high-stakes action, makes Fear for Her Life a truly unforgettable read.
And that ending? Absolutely brilliant! I’m already counting down the days until Book 26. This series just keeps getting better and better, and I can’t wait to see where D.K. Hood takes Jenna and Kane next.
If you’re a fan of Kendra Elliot, Melinda Leigh, or D.K. Hood’s previous work, you need to dive into this series. Fear for Her Life is a pulse-pounding, edge-of-your-seat thriller that will leave you breathless. Five stars all the way—this is a must-read for any crime thriller lover!
Thanks to Ms Hood, Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

Sheriff Jenna Alton and her husband Chief Deputy David Kane are tasked once again keeping their town Black Rock Falls safe from killers and predators. When a prison break occurs and the prisoners are headed their direction, Jenna calls in reinforcements. Fortunately her friends FBI agents Jo, Carter, Katz and Styles can come to help before more innocent people are killed. Being eight months pregnant does not hold Jenna back from being sheriff. Harrowing scenes, tense moments and good detective work weave a story to keep you engrossed way past bedtime!

This easily is the best I’ve read by this author lately as She has returned to the type of story that made me read the books from the start, there was a few in the middle that had so many romantic setups that it felt that it was more about getting people together than the murders that were happening , not that there is anything majorly wrong about a back story to the main one but in perspective please. It was great that all the side characters were featured in this one and hopefully we can see more of Beth as now Jenna has discovered more of her personality that any future interactions could make for an interesting story.

Book 25 in this series that just delivers every single time. Always action packed with plenty of resist along the way. This time we had the whole crew involved, including Jo, Carter, Raven, Styles and Katz..and of course the dogs. Was great to see them all working on a case together like this.
And what a case.. 4 dangerous criminals have escaped during a prison transfer and are headed for Black Falls Creek. The team really are up against it time and the body count is mounting. Jenna is almost ready to give birth but that is not going to stop her from being hands on and involved.
As always a fantastic page turner with some of my favourite characters. Always a pleasure to return to serial killer central.
Thanks so much to Bookouture for my early copy of this book to read. Love this series. Publishes on March 25th

First off a big thank you to the publisher, the author and to NetGalley for letting me read this book. I can't believe we're already on book 25 of this amazing series , and wow , what a ride , from the very start to the very last page I was literally setting on the edge of my set , because of the fast pacing and the suspense that D.K.Hood put though out this one, and it had all of my favorite characters in It as well .This one might be my new favorite one of this series , no take that book I can't say that since their all my favorite books when it comes to this series .

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
To say I am a massive fan of this serious is an understatement. After requesting on NetGalley, I spent my day refreshing emails until the following day when it was approved!
When 4 dangerous prisoners escape from a bus transferring them, Sheriff Jenna Alton and deputy Dave Kane are on the case. When one of the prisoners turns out to be a previous capture of the team, things get more dangerous. Working with FBI agents Carter, Jo, Dax and Beth as well as new recruit Raven they come up with a plan that minimises heavily pregnant Jenna’s involvement. When Kane is forced to go after one of them, can Jenna capture the other three and keep herself safe.
Wow wow wow! This was book 25 of the series and it showed no signs of slowing down and become boring. With twist after twist and the whole gang involved, this was fast paced and exciting. The characters are so familiar I feel like I know them in real life. I couldn’t put this down, a complete page turner. I highly recommend this. Perfect for standalone, but definitely worth investing the time to read the whole series!!

Returning to Serial Killer Central and I couldn’t wait to get a copy! This is the 25th book and still going strong. I can’t say enough about this entire series. This time we get to see Jo, Carter, Raven, Wolfe, Styles and Beth Katz racing along side Dave, Jenna and the rest of the gang to track down 4 escaped serial killers from a prison transport bus that crashed through rough forest. Jenna is over eight months pregnant and has to lean on her team more which is hard for her to do. Kane has to go with Wolfe on their own to track the leader of the escapees.
Gahhhhh … Jenna hasn’t had her baby yet!!
Gruesome murders stack up, suspense, twists and turns as DK Hood leads us to a heart pounding ending. That tracker ring is genius! … IYKYK

I adore this top-shelf series. The author has already written 25 books and I am ready for at least 25 more. She never ceases to amaze me with the stories she puts on paper.
I love Dave who is kind and compassionate, but can turn into a machine in the blink of an eye when needs must. I also am very fond of Jenna, but sometimes I could shake her. She is persistent and determined and wants to protect her villagers, but really girl, sometimes you should take a step back and think. Think about the people around you you endanger in being so stubborn, even pig headed. You have a perfect team who knows how to do the job. Please step back for the time being and coordinate in safety.
I also like the fact she can count on two FBI teams, always willing to help out and although I was very happy with the company of one doggy, I am so pleased there are three now in total who appear regularly.
The police teams have their hands full. The danger level is sky high. The story, as per usual is fantastic. 5 stars
Thank you

Book 25 in this series featuring Kane and Alton. An old enemy resurfaces and the troops are all gathered together to solve the crimes . An excellent read.
