It is full of complex characters with plenty of secrets and drama to keep you immersed. Emotionally engaging story.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I just could not get interested in this book and finally gave up. I felt like all of the characters were just so annoying. The two women who were supposedly best friends were just constantly bad mouthing the other. I didn't care for the excessive bad language either. I also felt like this storyline was done before.

Where do I begin? Ok, I will begin here. Liz Alterman is one of my top thriller authors. She is able to create such complex characters and devise plots that make me want to keep reading and don’t let my mind go astray. That is how this book is! It encompasses all the elements of the perfect thriller.
From the first few pages, until the end, I felt like a fly on the wall, watching the Whitaker and Chapman families go through a decades long friendship that ends up horrific. Can their relationship survive this? I truly wasn’t sure until I got to the end. Alterman had me guessing the whole time. Things were never as they seemed and it was terrifyingly fabulous!
The main and secondary characters are all important! Brad and Cal have been friends since they were toddlers, naturally, since their mothers are best friends. They end up living together as adults and this ends up not being the best idea. One thing after another happens. Lives are lost, people turn on each other and no one can be trusted. Not even a best friend.
Thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator books for the ARC of this book.

There were way too many perspectives for my liking. Having to keep up with 6 different points of views just is a big headache overall. The ending was okay but this isn’t something I’d pick up again

A Tense and Addictive Thriller – 4 Stars
Thank you, NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC!
You Shouldn't Have Done That by Liz Alterman is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps you turning the pages. The story unfolds with an unsettling tension, making it clear from the start that something isn’t quite right. Alterman does a great job building suspense, and the alternating perspectives add to the intrigue, giving readers a deeper look into the characters’ minds.
The pacing is strong, with just the right amount of twists to keep things engaging. While some plot points feel familiar to the genre, the execution is compelling, and the writing style makes for an easy, binge-worthy read. The ending is satisfying, though not entirely unpredictable.
Overall, this is a solid domestic thriller that fans of Gone Girl or The Last Mrs. Parrish will likely enjoy. It’s dark, unsettling, and full of tension—just what you want from a book like this.

This is my second book by Liz Alterman and she has easily become one of my new favorite authors. I love that her storylines are always so unique with just the perfect touch of domestic thriller vibes in them. While many of the characters in this particular novel weren't my favorite (so I had a tough time rooting for them), I enjoyed the way the plot played out. The author did a good job with the use of multiple POVs. This was a fun read about the depths to which one will go- even when their best friend is involved. And it's double the fun since you have storylines about two different best friend duos at different stages of their lives. 4.5 stars rounded down.
Thank you to NetGalley and Ikubator Books for an ARC of this novel.

What a wild, twisted story. This is a tale of the ties that bind and what happens when those ties break. It takes greed, jealousy and revenge to a whole new level. Readers will not be disappointed. Highly recommend.

How did the faithful friendship for twenty years between Ivy and Jane turn into hostility and hate? And how far would each mom go to protect their family?
This thriller is full of surprises and suspense. I was hooked from the beginning all the way to the shocking ending!

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator books for the eARC.
A twisty ride and full of toxic relationships. This book was fast paced and fun, I really enjoyed it.

Wow. This captured my interest right away. Great story. Couldn’t believe the twists and turns and the things I didn’t see coming. I loved the ending.

What a wild ride this book was. Crazy things just kept happening and when you thought it was winding down, you got another surprise! I loved the different POVs in this story because you really got to see where each character was at in their journey and the inner workings of their minds. I would definitely read another book by this author.

YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT was a fast paced thriller that captured my attention from the start. The story was relatable to today and things that often happen. I would say this is one her best works yet. Overall, this was a winner and I highly recommend getting yourself a copy.

This was a really good psychological thriller! We have two families who have been friends for over 20 years, ever since their sons attended the same preschool. Brad and Caleb, the now adult sons, go skiing in Wyoming and only Brad returns. We now have two Moms, once best friends, each in full Mama Bear mode. One wanting answers for her missing son and the other mother protecting hers. So many good twists and turns and I had to know what happened. Trust me, it won't be what you think! The story does start off slowly and none of the characters are very likeable, but stick with it, it's a good one! This is my first book from this author, and I cannot wait to start another one!
Thank you to #NetGalley, Liz Alterman and Inkubator Books for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
I will post my review to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Instagram and other retail and social media sites upon publication day of March 23, 2025.

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
The blurb of this book struck my interest and when I started it I was not prepared for it to be as good as it was. We follow the story of two families that are linked together by their mothers and children. This shows how well do you really know your best friend or what they are capable of. I loved how it was filled with suspense and kept building. The multiple POVs actually helped it come together. Some dark moments but that didn't bother me. While they were not jaw dropping, I guessed one twist but the others I did not see coming. I really enjoyed this book and have to add this author to my list.

You Shouldn't Have Done That kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The premise of a decades-long friendship being torn apart when tragedy strikes is so compelling, and the tension between Jane and Ivy was palpable. As their sons’ disappearance becomes more mysterious, I was constantly questioning who could be trusted and what secrets were being hidden. The shifting dynamics between the characters were fascinating, especially as old loyalties fell apart. I loved how the story explored the lengths a mother would go to protect her child, even if it meant destroying someone else’s life. The twists were gripping, and the emotional intensity had me hooked. A solid four stars—this book kept me hooked with its suspense, complex relationships, and moral dilemmas.

This was a really great thriller that focused around the friendship dynamic of two families who had been linked for years. It had an insight into toxic friendships and how dangerous these can be, and the consequences of this. I liked the way it was written from the perspective of different characters, and felt this kept building the suspense within the book.
I liked the way that it wasn’t just one possible outcome and the twists and turns kept you hooked and guessing.
The use of social media as a key theme made it feel really modern and relatable. It was a really easy read, and hooked me in straight away! A great read all round.

This is a thriller following two families who have been friends for around 20 years and what happens to them when their two sons go skiing, but only one returns.
The storyline definitely kept me interested as I was keen to know what had happened and who was involved and I didn’t guess any of the twists in advance so those are signs of a good thriller.
However I found most of the characters extremely unlikeable and as someone who is very character focused and who likes to connect with characters and route for them this made me feel a bit untethered.
The story is written in multiple POV which I did really enjoy and which i thought worked well for this book as it kept you interested the whole time.
I’m still not sure what to make of the ending, it felt a little unsatisfying to me, but that is probably based on my own preferences. Personally I would have liked to see the ending that was hinted at.
Overall it’s an interesting thriller with multiple pov’s that I did enjoy as I didn’t see the twists coming.

mind-bending psychological thriller that keeps you questioning everything. The story follows [protagonist’s name], whose life spirals out of control after [inciting incident]. As paranoia sets in, reality blurs, and the line between truth and deception vanishes.

None of the characters were all that likeable, but I still wanted to know what they were going to do next. The twists weren't jaw dropping, but the story was still fast paced and there was a lot happening.

Two families that have been friends for years have been put to the test when their sons (Cal and Brad) go skiing together and only one returns. The moms who are also best friends find themselves at odds as everyone starts blaming one another.
When I tell you this was a juicy story, I am not exaggerating! I absolutely loved this book. You have the domestic drama vibe but also with lots of unexpected twists and turns! You’re constantly wondering what will happen next as each character surprises you. Definitely a must read!
