No Coincidence..
The Sixth outing in the Maisie Cooper series of mysteries finds Maisie ready to enter into marriage but, in true form, not before she has got to the bottom of another mystery - those odd incidents that appear to be happening to both her and husband to be, Jack. Maisie simply cannot put them down to coincidence any longe - and it seems that someone somewhere is out for revenge. Another enjoyable entry to this series with a well drawn cast of eclectic characters, an atmospheric setting and a well formed plot laced often laced with a gentle humour,

Maisie Cooper has accidently become a sleuth. Along the way she has upset a few unpleasant people. It would seem that one of them is out for revenge.
This is the sixth book in the series. It is possible to read it as a stand alone. However, the plot revolves around the perpetrators of crimes that were solved in previous books and this made it harder to follow what was going on.
The book ticks all the boxes necessary for a successful cozy mystery and most lovers of this genre will enjoy it. Mosse is also a competent writer.
The rural policemen were more like romanticised 1940s officers. In my opinion they were not typical of the rural 1970s policemen I remember.
Although, I liked many of the peripheral characters , both the goodies and baddies, I did not warm to Maisie and Jack. They were just too good to be true. They did not seem to have any quirks, let alone faults. At one meal Maisie 'approved him (Jack) not speaking until he had swallowed'. Surely you would expect this so it would not be worthy of comment. You may register if your fiancé ate with his mouth open but not the reverse. I'm sure that many readers of cozy mysteries will be happy that the main protagonists are ideal and will consider it part of the charm. It is just not for me.
