This is my feedback for book 1 of the Manhattan Bossholes Boxset (it’s a set of 3 books); I’ll update this space as I finish the other ones!

The Perfect (Mis) Match is a cute enemies to lovers, fake-dating office romance. The writing was light and breezy, and the fake dating shenanigans were absolutely fun! It was a very easy book to binge read, and I finished it over two evenings.

Our main characters are Piper and Vincent, and the narration switched both their perspectives—this was well balanced out, and made it easy to root for both of them. Their voices were different, and the author handled both their POVs effortlessly. Piper and Vincent both have business goals they can achieve only with the help of the other, and their facade to achieve this formed the crux of the plot—it made for a cute plot, and though at times it bordered on ridiculous, the tempo of the book kept me going.

The formula for romance novels demands that there needs to be one major conflict that needs to be figured out by the main characters to get their HEA — the conflict was built wonderfully, and was in line with their characters. However, the resolution felt flat, and lacked the charm that had been present in the first 75% of the book. There was more tell than show at this point; it would have been nice to have a few chapters dedicated to the MC grieving over how they’d messed up, and figuring out how to make amends, rather than directly jumping to the making amends part. This brought down the rating to 4.

One thing that felt unnecessary was the many chapters that had been tacked on at the end, after Piper and Vincent had got back together. The book should have ended at that point, and the epilogue being them meeting Vincent’s dad for lunch, and Vincent reflecting on not repeating the mistakes his dad had made.

The last couple of chapters after this felt forced and rushed, and didn’t sit with the pace of the rest of the book. This is what lost another 0.5 from me.

Overall, I largely enjoyed this book. It’s been a long time since I read a romance that I finished in just two days, and this was a delight to read!

That was an amazing box set romance, i've already read, designer for disaster and I loved it and I love the other stories related to the manhattan bosses. A must for 2025

This was a great collections of 3 friends who are each motivated, rich career oriented guys, who meet and fall for strong unusual women, who challenge them and keep them on their toes. Each book was unique and had some great dialogue, funny moments and sexy connection.

Perfect (Mis)match: I really liked piper from the beginning but man was it easy to hate Vincent after the initial incident. but after seeing them work together you start to understand him a bit more and come to eventually like him as a character. He has his reasons on why he thinks marriage and relationships aren't great and i think that really opened his character up.

On the Rocks: Cora and Aiden have a history together. this was such a fun second chance romance / workplace romance. It was definitely interesting to see them try and get along with each other and work through their previous problems. The chemistry between them both was perfect and the humor was a great addition to the book.

Designed for Disaster: Trent was a likeable character in the first books and i already felt like i knew a little bit about him and his love for Nana Dee. But it was really interesting to learn about his family problems and what he was going through behind the scenes. Natasha is a sweetie pie and didn't deserve to get fired but alas it ended up being a good thing. This was such a fun book and the chemistry was perfect between both of our characters.

I really liked this set of books and i will definitely be reading more from this author.

Wow!! What a great book!! This one was a page turner! Had me hooked from the first page! This was a first for me by this author but will not be my last. I enjoyed the plot, characters and the writing style!!

I enjoyed this collection of previously published books about a group of friends who are successful businessmen with personal issues who fall in love with unconventional, talented women, but they all have to overcome their fears and insecurities before they find their happy ending together. All the protagonists are very likeable and have great character development. The stories are engaging and offer something for everyone (enemies to lovers, second chances, fake dating, close proximity, opposites attract, one bed...), emotions, twists, humor, witty banter and bickering, conflict and steamy love scenes.
I particularly like the bond and dynamics between the "Lost Boys" themselves and with Nana Dee.

If you like boss-employee romance novels with spice, tension, humorous interactions and great friendships, you are sure to enjoy this collection!

PERFECT (MIS)MATCH

An enjoyable enemies to lovers, fake dating story with added opposites attract, grumpy-sunshine, close proximity and one bed tropes. The well written plot is very engaging and full of emotion, romance, humor, lots of banter and bickering, conflict, ups and downs, sizzling chemistry, steamy love scenes and has endearing characters are also endearing and I particularly liked Vincent's character development over the course of the story. At the beginning of the story he is unsympathetic, but over time you get to know his background and insecurities. Piper is an admirable, warm and intelligent woman and the perfect match for Vincent. She supports, but also challenges him. I really enjoyed Vincent’s proof of love, the ending and also the unexpected happy ending of another couple.

Piper Doyle and Vincent Forde meet when they crash their cars and it's hate at first sight between the feisty photographer and the arrogant billionaire. When they meet shortly afterwards at the engagement party of Piper's stepbrother, who also happens to be one of Vincent's best friends, they end up at the same table and by chance Vincent learns that another couple at their table has a flower field of heliotropes in Hawaii, which he desperately needs for the creation of his new perfume. But unlike Piper, Vincent has made himself unpopular with them with his rude, withdrawn manner, so he hires Piper to help him procure them. Vincent persuades Piper to fake a relationship with him in order to satisfy his father, keep his ex at arm's length and convince the romantic couple from the engagement party to make a deal with him. Piper agrees because Vincent wants to use his connections to help her with her start-up. They work well together and their relationship soon intensifies. But Vincent will always put his company first, because he doesn't believe in love...


ON THE ROCKS

I really enjoyed the book! The plot is very well written with love-hate and second chance tropes, emotion, humor, sizzling chemistry, verbal sparring, playful banter, conflict, steamy love scenes and an endearing cast of main and supporting characters. Cora and Aidan are interesting personalities with issues in the past, who both undergo a great character development over the course of the book and who, after several attempts, finally get their happy ending.

Cora Newport has made a name for herself as the Masked Mixer thanks to her professionalism and creativity. At a mixologist contest, she is pressurised by Aiden Callihan, the Cocktail King and self-made billionaire, to promote his drink, but she turns him down cold. Aiden is her ex-boyfriend from high school, who dumped her without explanation and doesn't recognise her now. But shortly afterwards Aiden makes Cora an offer she can't refuse: she is to help Aiden’s company develop a mocktail, in return for which she can use his resources to expand her own brand and receive enough money to fulfil her dream of opening her own bar. The difficulty, however, is not to lose her heart to Aiden and get hurt by him again...


DESIGNED FOR DESASTER

I liked the grumpy-sunshine, enemies to lovers story with added boss-employee and fake dating tropes, but didn't think Trent was a bosshole at all. I found Natasha's way of eavesdropping, jumping to conclusions and interfering uninvited in personal situations much more unpleasant and intrusive, even though she usually has positive intentions. Both protagonists react hypersensitively, but this is understandable given their previous painful experiences. The plot is well written and full of emotion, humorous banter and bickering, a few twists, a sizzling chemistry between the protagonists, steamy love scenes and a whole cast of very likable secondary characters.

After many losses and disappointments in her past, Natasha Dryer’s biggest dream is to become successful with her furniture designs, but in the meantime she has to keep her head above water with part-time jobs, including as a barista in a café. When she is fired after a confrontation with an arrogant customer, she is fuming with rage.
Shortly afterwards, she is contacted by a prospective buyer of her furniture who wants to order some pieces from her for his grandmother and when she arrives at the agreed meeting point, she immediately recognises him as her nemesis from the café.
Trent Saunders has been successfully running the family furniture company for several years, which was founded by his grandparents and almost bankrupted by his constantly bickering parents before he took it over. After many disappointments and hurts in his past, his main carers are his best friends, the "Lost Boys", his younger brother and his ailing grandmother Nana Dee, who took them all under her wing a long time ago. To make his grandmother happy, Trent wants to give her some exclusive pieces of furniture, but he never expected that the fury from the café and the innovative furniture designer could be one and the same person. Worse still, Nana Dee thinks she is his girlfriend and sees Natasha as the solution for the company's new sustainability line. So he has to hire her and pretend to have a fake relationship with her for his grandmother‘s sake…
