Back to St Piran's to meet up with old and new friends. A nice cosy, enjoyable read.

I've read each of the books in this series and enjoyed them. For some reason, this one took me a bit more time to get through, it just wasn't capturing my attention as well as the previous books. Nothing wrong with it, just a bit slower.

Amy has always suffered a lack of self-confidence, viewed as unwarranted by her many friends and her close family (brother withstanding). She's a dedicated nurse now, but in her teen years, she was Lijah's girlfriend. Both of them thought they would grow old together, but when Lijah's musical aspirations took him away, she let him go, thinking she'd never be enough.

As the title suggests, Lijah finds his way back to Port Kara for a break from the spotlight, and runs into Amy. While others around them think this is their second chance, Amy's not sure. Do they have what it takes to make it?

I enjoyed seeing many of the same characters from the prior books, it is like they are all one big happy family. It is a good series to read in order, gives you a good background on each character.

They both meet up when Lijah comes home to settle himself he hasn’t been the same since his mother passed away.
Brilliant to be back to visit all the gang and catch up with what they’ve been doing. Love this series and can’t wait for future visits.

Nice book, quite predictable and similar to the rest of this author’s books but I enjoyed it all the same.
I did get quite annoyed with Amy at times though - her attitude didn’t always sit well with me.
Overall I’d recommend this book and have a read of some of the other books in the series, you won’t be disappointed.

I think I have now read most if not all of the books written by Jo Bartlett and this novel was like sinking into a comfortable armchair with friends.

My only complaint is that I read it too fast as I was enjoying it so much. Loved catching up with characters from the previous books in this series and thoroughly enjoyed the story centred around musician Lijah and nurse Amy.

Jo Bartlett had a way of making her characters realistic and thoroughly human with their insecurities and problems whilst trying to achieve their dreams.

I can’t wait for the next instalment in this series.

This return to old friends focused on the potential health issues of then older woman as well as visiting the normal hospital issues - a cozy read.

Another instalment of the Cornish Country Hospital. This time Any is the main focus although other characters like Gwen, Aidan and the others we’ve met who work at the hospital still feature. Can a Nurse lead a normal life with a pop star? Amy tries and there are many ups and downs. Thanks to Jo and her publisher. Thanks also to NetGalley

Another wonderful story! This time it's about Amy and Lijah who are given a second chance at love after Lijah returns to Port Kara after following his music career dreams for many years. Amy has so many doubts about whether she wants to pursue the relationship so there's lots of back and forth, but it's understandable. We also get a closer look at Gwen when she has a health scare. She's always such a staple in these stories, dispensing advice and humour. And a lovely update on Aiden and Jase's parental journey. Awesome read!

Time to go back to the Cornish hospital and catch up with familiar faces. Gwen has a lot going on and is convinced her world is about to change . Is Amy ready to give her heart back to her first love ?

I love catching up with the familiar faces however the books could be read as stand alones too .

Another visit to Port Kara and there is a lot going on. I enjoyed Gwen’s storyline in this book but wasn’t the biggest fan of Amy and Lijah; I just found the whole thing a bit cheesy and cliche. A perfectly good easy read but it doesn’t set the world on fire.

The latest in the Cornish Country Hospital series tells Amy's story. Nurse Amy loves her job at the hospital, but knows her life is missing that special someone. When first love Lijah returns to the area, can Amy protect her heart, and have what she truly desires?

I love the scenic descriptions in this series, and it was great to revisit old favourite characters again. I particularly liked the side story about Gwen, the retired midwife who is the centre of life at the hospital - it was lovely to have more depth to her story. Amy and Lijah were good strong characters, and I look forward to hearing more about them in the next instalment!

Another lovely story from the team of a Cornish Hospital, this time nurse Amy is the center. Her first love, and musician Lijah returns after his mother's death has left him bereft. Overall a good story with themes around second chances and love. The side characters all appear to varying degrees, with retired nurse and group leader Gwen having a central role as well.

Absolutely brilliant . Loved being back with old and new characters . Does not make you like journalists or fame. I so felt for Gwen. I also got a bit annoyed with Amy but I got why. You have to read it and find out. The baby birth was moving , sad and exciting, You won’t want to stop reading. Takes a couple of chapters to draw you in. Two lovely old love stories . Read it

I love the Cornish Country Hospital Series. Jo Bartlett does it again in the latest installment. It was great!

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from Netgalley. I love Jo Bartlett's books so was pleased to be granted an ARC of the latest in the Cornish Country Hospital series. I enjoyed learning more about Amy and checking in with the other characters from previous books in the series. As ever, the characters were likeable and their stories engaging. I was particularly invested in Gwen's storyline. She has been a supporting character since the start of the Cornish Midwives, so it was lovely to see her take a starring role, albeit a challenging one. One thing that did irk me, however, was once again (this also happened in book two), Bartlett's portrayal of personality disorders, which rely on outdated, stigmatising, and incorrect stereotypes about PDs and mental illness - why not depict Nathan as a bully without that? For someone who usually writes about sensitive issues so skillfully, I do not understand why Bartlett now repeatedly relies on offensive tropes about personality disorders for a storyline. As such, I have dropped a star unwillingly, given my enjoyment of the author's books more broadly.
