I picked this book up due to the cover and strange author name. Just like the author name suggests, this book is not your average fantasy book. It all begins with an unreliable narrator describing a quiet English town in a state of decline. She quickly introduces some plucky English children who band together to rescue a stolen child. There may be dragons in the book. And it may be full of silly adventures and twists in the storyline. You will have to read it to find out.

While the storyline was fun, and the kids delightful I didn't love how grownups were portrayed and I found the narrator frustrating at times. Children may love this book more than I did.

I'm grateful for Cranthorpe Millner Publishers for providing me with a digital ARC. All thoughts are my own.

What a brilliant, fun, laugh out loud read!!

After loving B Wares first book, my son and I couldn’t wait to read her second one, and believe me it does not disappoint!

With a fun cast of characters and possibly some dragons, what more could you want?

We loved the style of the first book, how it was narrated, and this book is the same. It really adds to the humour!

I’ve whizzed through this, not wanting to put it down and I know my son will be the same - what young (or older!) boys and girls don’t like a story about dragons?? But here’s the thing, it’s not like all those other dragon stories out there, it’s very unique!

My son has started to read it with me and absolutely loves the toy trains in this (no spoilers!). I’ll update with his review when he’s read all the way through with me but I have a feeling he may find the pasta bit very funny indeed!

When I was about a third of the way through I felt what a good movie this book could make! I could just envisage all the characters, the scenery, the dragons coming to life before me!

All in all a fabulous, fun read, perfect for children able to read themselves or for slightly younger children to be read to. I love the similarities to the first book but also how completely different it was.

This lighthearted book designed for kids will leave even parents and kids alike laughing their heads off. I had to read it 4x back to back to my kids and they wanted to read it again. It's rare you can find a silly book that keeps kids amused and able to want to read it again and again. Plus there is kidnapping dragons, who can go wrong with silly dragons?

Maybe have to explain why kidnapping is not funny in real life and stranger danger. Haha
