Wow….what a life! What a story to tell!
A beautiful memoir with some fascinating historical elements woven through. Nolwen struggled with the effects of childhood bullying, an unaffectionate, manipulative mother and such a lot of sadness and grief through her life. Yet she flourishes both personally and professionally.

Nolwen’s story is intriguing, deeply personal and inspiring. There were moments when my eyes filled up and other moments when I smiled. I loved it!
And the book cover is just perfect - a beautiful reflection of Nolwen’s life journey.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, Troubador Publishing. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book was such a pleasant surprise, and I absolutely loved it. As is usual with me, I enjoyed the earlier timeline of the story and reading about Nolwen's childhood in Wales, and I liked the parts where she is a young adult new to the WRAF. After that, the book started to drag a bit and became a tad repetitive, and if you know me, you know that's a pet peeve of mine.

I loved getting to know Nolwen Jones and her family. I learned a few things along the way about what made her who she is. She suffered so much as a youngster and despite, or maybe because of, it, she became successful in both her personal and professional life. Even though she's a bit older than I am (she's closer to my older sister's age), I loved the timeline of the earlier part of the book as it reminded me a lot of my childhood while I was growing up.

This was a very nostalgic, poignant, sad and funny read. It's a touching and personal story that had me feeling so many emotions and was wonderfully written. Part historical fiction and part biography, I really enjoyed this and would definitely read another book by the author. The first half of the book was five stars, and the second three, so I am going with four stars.

i do like a book that delivers a whole span of someones life. how you get to know them and each event that touch and shapes them.
it often makes me think how every life is extraordinary. how everything in someone life shapes what they feel,do and act like. nothing is nothing in someones life even the day to day.
and it also shows how people react to certain things that happens to them. like children who our bullied. or have parents who wish for them to do different careers. or how we handle love and illness. Our character Nolwen certainly when you read it, doesnt have it easy. not as often as a little and growing human being should. but it shows how often these things happen. to everyone and all people. who ever you are. and then you can see her pain,or thoughts or behavior's reflecting back. and you wonder how youd react or did react if you faced similar, i dont know why but this book really did touch me. it was written ever so well. and it made me think more than most ive read in this genre.
even when learning of our main characters jobs, or growing up activities it never felt boring.
the book did take you on a journey yourself. makes you think of your own timeline at the same moments.
and i have to admit towards the end i got a little more emotional than id like to admit!
