This ode to tears was like balm for my soul. I'm a life time crier and I felt a kinship to Pepita Sandwich and just seen. It truly is a piece of art from the words to the illustrations, it's a true celebration of crying .

I am not quite sure how to start my review.
When I picked this book I did not have a clear expectation, but I was still managed to be surprised. The book was is very colourful and I enjoyed the art style. The book contained some information about crying (the history of crying, different kinds of crying, crying in different cultures) as well as personal anecdotes. The information felt flat at times, I wish the author went deeper on some of the topics, and the personal anecdotes felt overwhelming at times.
Overall it was a nice quick and informative read.

I really enjoyed this book! I went into much more detail than I expected it to and was quite captivating! My eyes were welling up reading it. It was a joy to read and I thoroughly enjoyed the art style how colourful it was.

"You are allowed to cry"

As someone who has been thought to be embarrassed by my tears, this book has been healing. I love how crying is openly discussed and accepted as a part of the human condition. I did not think that there were so many things one could say about crying, but this book did not shy away from any of the topics one could discuss, such as the social role of crying, the benefits of crying, but also things like crying during sex.

I will think of this book the next time I shed some tears and thank it that I let them go in peace.

Thank you NetGalley and Octopus Publishing for giving me access to an e-arc for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Sandwich's art is curious, lovely and great.
The idea is also wonderful; a book focusing on crying, normalising it, appreciating it.
I liked reading about the author's own experience, but overall, I felt like something was missing - more details, nuances, story?
I would happily read other works of Sandwich - certainly, happily view them, look at them, admire them. I would also like to see her writing something that is explored in more in-depth. Her style is a great fit for such a topic and narrative.
