DNF at 35%
I was really looking forward to reading this because of the cute cover and the interesting blurb but it didn’t end up being my cup of tea. Because of how fast paced the book is, the emotional connection between the characters did not grow the way I felt they should have.
It is a really interesting concept for an alien romance but it felt like a lot of things were said but never explained properly, maybe the author couldn’t come up with a logical reasoning. Overall just not my cup of tea and choosing to DNF rather than push through and be negative about the book when I know from now that it is not for me.

Rachel H. Drake's "Saved By My Alien Husband" was a breezy and entertaining read. It served its purpose as a lighthearted escape. The premise itself is fun and quirky, and it was easy to get caught up in the intergalactic romance.
The book offers a good dose of humour and a sense of escapism, making it a pleasant way to spend time. The interactions between the characters were often amusing, and the overall tone was lighter. It's the book you can pick up when looking for something that doesn't require too much deep thought and wants to be entertained.
While it was enjoyable, there were moments when the plot felt a little predictable, and the character development didn't delve too deeply. However, for what it is—a fun and lighthearted alien romance—it definitely hits the mark.
Ultimately, "Saved By My Alien Husband" is a solid choice if you want something easy to digest and just plain fun. It's a good book to pick up as a palate cleanser between heavier reads, offering a welcome dose of lightheartedness and escapism.

This was a delight! But also not for everyone. Our human FMC, Delphine, has been falling in love with an Alien Prince, Haven, in her dreams for years. She has always thought he was her imaginary friend until one day he shows up on earth to take her (and all the cats) away. Here's the kicker: Delphine is living on a dying earth where all the remaining humans live in domes. So this is not the read for you if you are currently feeling a lot of climate apocalypse feelings but the idea of getting rescued by an Alien prince is pretty nice that's for sure. The romance here feels a little insta-lovey but only because the book starts after these two have been talking every night for years. So there is no third act breakup, these two are committed from the beginning. Instead, we see them navigate tricky emotional and political situations like family problems and saving humanity. Drink this book: grab a wine that does well in a heating climate like a Spanish Garancha.

A very fun and enjoyable romcom! I have to say at first I was skeptical about an alien/human romance but I throughly enjoyed reading it. I was also nervous I wasn’t going to like the FMC but Delphine grew on me. There was a lot of progression of how some of these characters went from unlikeable to likeable.
Another great surprise: the amount of smut in this book! Can’t say I’ve ever been into alien smut but this may have changed my mind (we listen and we don’t judge).
Definitely interested in trying another book by this author!
Posted on Goodreads as well!

Synopsis:
💫Delphine, knowing the world is about to end in about 10 years, finds solace in her dreams, where she meets her alien prince, Haven. Despite her therapist’s insistence that her visions are mere figments of her imagination, Haven’s spaceship unexpectedly arrives on a mission to rescue his cat ancestors. This unexpected event forever changes Delphine’s life. 💫
My Thoughts:
💫The concept of this book was intriguing. The initial part focused on Delphine’s relationship with Haven, which gradually evolved into their mission to save humanity and cats. I would have appreciated a slightly longer book to delve deeper into their relationship and explore the dynamics between humans and aliens.💫

I've fallen hard into the alien romance genre and I don't think I can escape because each book keeps getting better and better. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will read more of Rachel Drake in the future!

A lighthearted alien romance, set on a post-apocalyptic Earth, sets stars ablaze with its steamy love scenes and found family.
Delphine has been dreaming about her alien prince charming since she was 10 years old. Unbeknownst to her, he really exists and is coming to rescue her and his genetic ancestors the cats. They will face trials and set backs trying to convince the rest of the remaining human population to flee to space with them, but their love will remain strong. It has spanned lightyears and planets and only grown.
A fast, sweeter romance for fans of Ice Planet Barbarians.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, and I’m so glad I did—it was a fun read! I’d rate it 3.5/5 stars overall and 4/5 for spice. Maybe I just haven’t come across many yet, but I really wish there were more sci-fi romances like this. I once read that sci-fi is just fantasy with science instead of magic, and that definitely rings true here.
The story follows a 23-year-old FMC living in a dystopian future where Earth’s population has dwindled to just a few thousand people. Since she was 13, she’s had recurring dreams of the same alien (the MMC, also around 13 at the time). Over the course of ten years, they build a deep, non-romantic relationship through these dreams, with the MMC repeatedly telling her that he’s on his way. Then, one day, he actually shows up to save the her, all the cats, and, somewhat reluctantly, the remaining humans.
Beyond the romance, the FMC also grapples with feelings of being an outcast and attachment issues related to her parents. The book does a great job of showing her growth, particularly as she begins to understand that even those who slighted her were coping with their own trauma. While it’s an enjoyable read, it carries emotional weight as well.
My main critique is that the story jumps too quickly from the dream connection to their real-life meeting. I didn’t quite feel the full impact of their relationship’s depth—it’s there, but I wanted a bit more angst or buildup, maybe even a stronger friends-to-lovers arc. As it stands, we don’t get to experience much of the “friends” part before the romance kicks in.
That said, it kept me entertained, and I’d definitely read more from this author—especially if more books are set in this world!

Definitely not what I was expecting with this book, but I did enjoy it! I would read more from this author.

Saved by My Alien Husband by Rachel H. Drake is a stellar read for passionate fan-fiction readers. The story does a wonderful job of blending romance and science fiction together. Even though the backdrop of the book is an apocalyptic future hinging on the end of the world, Drake still manages to weave in a tender yet spicy romance between the leads Delphine and Haven. If you like romance, aliens, and cats this book will be perfect for you.

The cover made me imagine this would be a sweet light hearted read and while it had its moments it is still about the end of Earth. The end of humanity and what happened to those lucky enough to still be alive. A series of domes is all that’s left and one of them is where we meet Delphine.
She’s been having dreams of an alien prince who tells her he is coming to rescue her but she thinks he’s a figment of her imagination. Something she thought up to help herself get through her loneliness. Come to find out he truly is an alien prince and when she needs him most he finally arrives to save not only her but all of the humans left on earth.
Oh and the cats.
This was pretty cute! I got access to a copy on NetGalley and started it immediately! The story was easy to follow and the character development was pretty great. It did have its darker moments, as all dystopian worlds do.
Delphine starts out pretty negative, rightfully so she’s been dealt a pretty crappy hand, but she evolves to be selfless and kind regardless. And Haven was determined to spoil and love her. He said she would never have another lonely day and he absolutely meant it. And we love a male with a tail, a knot, and a deep desire to give his wife orgasms and respect.

A very quick and light hearted read (I read it in a day). The concept made me chuckle and without giving too much a way, things were just so random aka the involvement of cats. Was spicer than I expected (based on the cover) but there isn’t loads of it. I will say ‘my princess’/‘princess’ got very boring very quickly.

This book was absolutely adorable! I first came across this author on TikTok and later requested this book through NetGalley and I have to say this is going in as one of my favorites!
As someone who doesn't read Sci-Fi much, I wasn't too sure on what I was expecting. If you know me you probably know I have been in one of the worst on again, off again reading slumps. Yet today when I picked this book up I did not want to put it down. I was absolutely obsessed with Delphine and Haven. From Delphine's personal experiences and relatability for me, to the love shown in the pages I was hooked. The world building was absolutely PHENOMENAL!
Something I get nervous about when reading Sci-Fi or fantasy is the introduction of non-human characters and their descriptions. Rachel wrote amazing descriptions of all of these characters. I was able to fully envision and see everyone clearly. I will give a side note that this was really present in the spicy scenes as well! The development and pacing felt very well placed. This is a pretty fast paced read with lots of huge interesting changes!

I enjoyed this, I don’t normally read sci fi but I liked the cover and the premise. It felt a bit slow to me at times but it was cute and I loved the way the author wrote the difficult relationships!

In a post apocalyptic world where people live under domes, population is dwindling, and animals are mostly extinct, humans are desperate to get pregnant, even if it means from as many partners as possible. But despite their efforts, things still aren't looking good. But Delphine has a way out. An imaginary alien friend who says he's on his way to save not only her but her cats.
Everyone says she's crazy, and that's why she's stopped talking about him, but she's known about Haven since she was a child. And after they seemingly invade the planet, she turns out to be right, and he's a real person. If you can call an alien with intense cat traits a real person. And just like he's been telling her, he intends to make Delphine his wife. And guess what? She's fine with spending the rest of her life travelling on a space ship, saving cats from all over the galaxy, and living with her alien husband, Haven.
Overall, this book has super graphic sex scenes, with huge alien dongs and all. I found it to be kind of weird that she wanted to bang a cat so bad he turned humanoid, but the book was short and to the point. I enjoyed reading it, even if I was flabbergasted at the more sexual scenes in the book. After all, how often do you get to read about alien dicks? I did think it kind of overdid the "princess" thing however. Definitely an adult only book, but I thought it was fun to read.

A big shout out and thank you to the author and publisher for providing me with a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review!
What I expected when I walked into Saved by my Alien Husband was just a sweet bite of quick escape. What I got was certainly that but so much more. To my utter surprise the book had many elements of a higher fantasy than I would’ve expected.
A dual POV narration greatly aids the storytelling, presenting the lives of the two protagonists and highlighting their different worlds, experiences and beliefs. When their worlds collide, it was additionally interesting to see their unique reactions to it plus the cultural differences between them and how they find middle ground with one another on it.
The plot is quite simple, but the many elements woven into the story add several layers of complexity to it. From classism, dystopian elements, politics, to the more emotional aspects of the story—like the way the female protagonist associates to her world and how she grows from possessing a smaller worldview to widening it to include others—were all certainly interesting to watch unfold. To a certain extent the power balance and plays remain but at least they shift towards more just characters.
The world building was surprisingly a big part of this book. I think most of us walk into books about aliens or ones with animated covers (is that the right name for it?) expecting a fluffy, fun read. Except this book had some heartbreaking themes, a wider world with lots of details and characters that required introductions and plot resolutions. I was pleasantly surprised! But I do know it can come as an unexpected revelation to some, so definitely do walk in aware that the story is more than just the romance. There are several sub-plots that hold equal importance, in my opinion.
The pace was relatively even, but depending on which aspect of the theme of the book you enjoy you might feel that that portion of the story progresses faster. For me, personally, I experienced a lag in the intermediary portion of the book.
Four stars! As always check trigger warnings before reading as some of the themes in this book may be difficult for some. Happy reading!

Thank you to NetGalley and Aria James Publishing for the ARC!
This story is adorable. It is a quick read with a unique setting and characters. As a cat lover, it made me so happy to think of a race of aliens that had evolved from cats and were then saving their genetic ancestors from an apocalyptic world.
My only critic is that I wish the story was longer! I feel like Rachel H Drake could create an entire series from Delphine and Havens story. It would be fun to see them again one day.

Saved By My Alien Husband is a captivating blend of dystopian sci-fi and steamy romance that will leave readers breathless. The story follows Delphine, a young woman grappling with the bleak reality of a dying Earth, who finds solace in her vivid dreams of an alien prince named Haven. Their connection is electric, and the tension between fantasy and reality is masterfully woven, keeping you guessing until the very moment Haven’s spaceship appears outside Earth’s protective dome.
The romance is high-spice and unapologetically bold, featuring tropes like “touch her and die,” knotting, and unique alien anatomy that will appeal to fans of the genre. The chemistry between Delphine and Haven is palpable, and their relationship evolves in a way that feels both passionate and genuine.
The dystopian setting adds a rich backdrop to the story, highlighting themes of survival, hope, and the resilience of love in the face of extinction. The pacing is excellent, with just the right balance of action, romance, and world-building.

Is it real? Is it just a dream? What an interesting premise for a book! A few well placed twists and turns kept things interesting. I really enjoyed this story from start to finish. A fun read for anyone who loves a fun Alien/Cryptid story.

Not what I expected at all, but that's not a bad thing. I thought this was just going to be your average cute rom-com, but it was so much more than that!! I loved the plot and the characters so much, I like that there was spice but it wasn't the main focus of the book. Absolutely loved it, and it was a pretty quick read for me.
