I Remember You by Theo Baxter is a gripping psychological thriller that explores the complexity of memory, trust, and the unsettling truths that lie beneath the surface of a seemingly perfect life. The story follows Aria West, a sculptor who, two years after a traumatic accident that erased her memories, lives with her husband, Austin, in a secluded cabin in upstate New York. While she’s built a new life, her past continues to haunt her through vivid nightmares that don’t align with Austin’s version of events.
Baxter expertly creates an atmosphere of growing tension and paranoia, pulling readers into Aria’s journey as she begins to unravel the truth about what happened to her. The gradual deterioration of her trust in her husband, who seems to be hiding something sinister, makes for a compelling psychological battle. Aria's struggle to piece together her fragmented memories and uncover the truth becomes an engrossing quest for justice and self-discovery.
What makes this novel particularly engaging is Baxter’s skillful use of unreliable memories and the sense of claustrophobia that Aria feels as she begins to question everything around her. The slow burn of suspense, coupled with well-timed twists, keeps the reader on edge until the final revelations. The tension between Aria and Austin, along with the isolated setting, makes for a perfect backdrop to the unraveling of dark secrets.

I Remember You, is a chilling psychological thriller that delves into the unsettling depths of memory, obsession, and the blurred lines between reality and delusion.
Baxter easily crafts a pervasive sense of unease and dread, creating an atmosphere that is both claustrophobic and unsettling. The slow build of suspense allowed me to completely immerse myself into the growing paranoia Aria, the main character, was experiencing . Baxter skillfully explores the complexities of memory and perception, raising questions about the reliability of our own minds. Aria's descent into obsession and doubt is portrayed with chilling realism.
So many twists, I quite honestly felt the whiplash long after concluding...

Theo Baxter’s I Remember You is a gripping psychological thriller that masterfully explores the unsettling fragility of memory and the terrifying possibility that the people closest to us may not be who they seem. With its dark twists, atmospheric setting, and relentless tension, this novel will keep readers on edge until the very last page.
The story follows Aria West, a sculptor trying to rebuild her life after suffering a traumatic head injury that erased her memories. Her husband Austin, steadfast and supportive, has been her rock during her recovery. But as Aria’s subconscious starts to piece together disturbing fragments of the past through recurring nightmares, the cracks in Austin’s carefully constructed narrative begin to show. Is he protecting her from the truth, or is he the very danger she fears?
Baxter excels at creating an oppressive sense of unease, drawing readers deep into Aria’s fractured perspective. The isolated cabin in upstate New York serves as a chillingly symbolic backdrop — a place meant to offer comfort and healing but instead heightens the tension and paranoia. As Aria questions her own memories and sanity, readers are left guessing whether her fears are justified or the result of lingering trauma.
The novel’s pacing is relentless, with each chapter peeling back a new layer of deception. Just when the truth seems within reach, Baxter skillfully twists the narrative, keeping the suspense taut. Aria’s character is both vulnerable and determined, making her a compelling protagonist readers will root for as she navigates the darkness of her past.
Themes of gaslighting, manipulation, and the fallibility of memory are explored with psychological depth. Baxter’s writing invites readers to reflect on how much we rely on our recollections to shape our sense of reality — and how terrifying it is when those memories are compromised.
Fans of thrillers by authors like B.A. Paris and Gillian Flynn will find I Remember You a haunting and immersive read. With its shocking revelations and emotionally charged storytelling, Theo Baxter delivers a psychological rollercoaster that lingers long after the final twist.

This is a predictable but entertaining thriller which starts off with a beautiful premise. A twisted psychological thriller that delves into messy relationships and unexpected betrayals, building plenty of tension along the way. Theo Baxter does a great job of creating an atmosphere of suspense with the fast-paced plot making this an easy page-turner. Some of the twists do feel a little over the top, which will pull readers out of the story at times. The characters are interesting, but not always easy to connect with like they can be pretty unlikable, which might make it hard to root for them. But, if you’re into dark, drama-filled thrillers with plenty of surprises, this one is worth checking out. It’s not the most realistic or emotionally deep read and for seasoned thriller readers would be predictable more often than not but it’s definitely entertaining and will keep you hooked until the end.
What works in the story is the charged creepy atmosphere that Theo has been able to inject into the story through the amnesia and the brief flashes of dread due to glimpses from the past which are not in sync with the current for Aria the protagonist. As a reader on occasions I was able to connect with her impotent helplessness but was a little disappointed with the overall treatment which levelled down my experience.
But overall its a good reading.

I Remember You by Theo Baxter is a slow burn psychological thriller that is absolutely gripping.
When Aria West woke up in the hospital two years ago, she found that she had no memories. She didn't remember the accident, her house, or the man named Austin who is her husband. Austin slowly starts to tell Aria about their life together and she seems to be settling into her new normal. Now Aria is a ceramicist who is very successful but the kind and caring Austin is long gone. He has become more demanding, petulant, and has developed a case of agoraphobia. But when Aria starts having flashbacks to the night of her accident and her life before she lost her memory, she realizes that Austin's version of their life is not at all what she sees.
What a page turner! I blew through this book in a day completely avoiding all responsibilities! The tension throughout as Aria tries to reconcile what she is being told with what she is feeling / seeing in her flashbacks is thick and I couldn't wait to piece at all together. I could relate to Aria but she was also a bit frustrating at times! And then there is Austin.. man, don't get me started on that guy. Packed with non-stop tension and action with a great ending, I highly recommend this book!
Thank you to NetGalley, Theo Baxter, and Inkubator Books for this ARC. Publication date is March 30th 2025.

This book was incredible. The rollercoaster of trying to get to the bottom of Aria’s flashbacks and memory loss, the suspense of knowing something was off with her husband, and the sense of despair rolling off of her character was so intense. What a great read that will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time!

I Remember You by Theo Baxter grabs you by the throat from page one and never lets go.
Two years ago, Aria West woke up in a hospital with zero memory of her past—just a severe head injury and a husband, Austin, who claims to love her. Now, she’s a successful sculptor, tucked away in a remote cabin in upstate New York, living a seemingly peaceful life. Seemingly.
Because the nightmares won’t stop. Flashes of trauma that don’t match Austin’s version of events. As his behavior grows more and more unhinged, Aria starts to suspect the truth is far darker than she ever imagined. And the closer she gets to uncovering it, the more dangerous things become...
The Characters: A Love-Hate Relationship
Aria – Smart but frustratingly reckless. Some of her choices made me want to yell at the pages, but hey, no bad decisions = no thriller, right?
Austin – Red flag city. Manipulative, controlling, and downright creepy. The more you learn about him, the worse it gets—which makes the ending all the more satisfying.
The Verdict
✔️ Non-stop tension – The suspense never really lets up.
✔️ Fast-paced action – Even when the plot gets predictable, the execution keeps you engaged.
✔️ A deeply satisfying conclusion – Let’s just say, justice is served.
If you like psychological thrillers with a slow-burn unraveling of secrets and a sinister, claustrophobic atmosphere, I Remember You is worth the read. Just be prepared to yell at Aria a few times.
⭐ 4/5 stars – Will leave you double-checking who you trust. ⭐

I Remember You
This was a well executed thriller with unforgettable characters.
A wife with retrograde amnesia and a husband with many secrets. What could he be hiding?
I loved this suspenseful mystery.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc.

I Remember You by Theo Baxter is a gripping psychological thriller that delves into the dark and complex themes of memory, manipulation, and emotional abuse. As Aria navigates her lost memories, she is unknowingly trapped in a twisted reality created by her controlling and abusive husband, Austin. The suspense builds steadily as Aria becomes more dependent on the distorted version of events Austin has manipulated her into believing.
The book’s themes are heavy and might be difficult for some readers, but they add depth to the story’s intense atmosphere. Austin’s misogynistic, manipulative behavior is infuriating, and his psychological control over Aria is both chilling and tragic. As the layers of deceit are slowly peeled away, the reader is left wondering how Aria can escape the web of lies that has been spun around her.
If you’re drawn to psychological thrillers that explore toxic relationships and mind games, I Remember You will keep you hooked until the last page.

This book's pace was great, with just the right amount of twists to keep me engaged. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and this was my first read from this author, but I am very interested in more of their work.

Not exactly the shocking thriller I was expecting; on the contrary, the plot was very predictable. Our heroine Aria is a successful sculptor, living in a small house in the woods with her husband Austin. I liked the fact that she is, despite the fact that she’s lost all her memories of the first thirty years of her life, so successful in what she does. Her mind is in shambles but her hands remember what to do to create exquisite art. She’s very much in demand and earns good money, which she needs because Austin is a writer, or so he claims, but not earning anything. The story begins with Aria lying on the ground in the woods, just after the accident that robbed her of her memories. Or accident? Was it really and accident.
We follow Aria trying to get a grip on her life, mainly because Austin is increasingly trying to take over everything she wants and needs. He’s only ever sitting in his study writing a book but from what we read about that book, is it clear from the start that it is a horrible book without a real story but just one long rant about how women are taking over men’s lives. Aria is constantly working, cooking and cleaning because she still believes she can help Austin to get back on his feet. We know better… men like him are very set in their ways and believe they are right to behave like he does.
Aria manages to find an excuse to go to a therapist and soon it becomes clear to this therapist that there is something really wrong with Aria – but not to her own fault.
A very predictable story with rather predictable characters and not really shocking, but it had its good points and I was curious as to how it all started – and would end.

I picked up I Remember You on a quiet afternoon, thinking I’d read a few chapters while sipping my coffee. Big mistake. Hours later, my coffee was cold, my phone was ignored, and I was completely consumed by Aria’s unraveling reality.
From the very beginning, I felt Aria’s unease creeping in. The amnesia, the seemingly perfect yet isolating life in a remote cabin, and the husband who should be her safe place but feels more like a stranger—it all made for an incredibly tense read. I found myself mentally screaming at her to dig deeper, to remember, even as I worried about what she might uncover.
Theo Baxter does an incredible job of making the reader feel as trapped as Aria. The small, unsettling moments—Austin’s carefully chosen words, the inconsistencies in his version of the past—slowly build until you’re doubting everything right alongside her. And when the truth finally starts to surface? I gasped out loud.
This book completely took over my day, and I have no regrets. If you love slow-burning psychological thrillers that spiral into jaw-dropping revelations, I Remember You is absolutely worth the ride. Just be prepared to forget about everything else once you start.

I Remember You is the first book I’ve read by Theo Baxter. I loved it! I didn’t want to put it down! It was a little frustrating at times, but overall a really good thriller with some twists! I will be reading more of his books!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
