This book didn’t quite deliver for me. There is something very stilted and amateur about the writing and dialogue. It doesn’t feel natural or of them time period. I was conscious the entire time that I was reading a book - and working at it! - instead of getting swept up and lost in a story. I love historical fiction, but I didn’t enjoy this like I hoped.

LOVED this book. Well developed characters who were authentic and not perfect. Had the feel of a Julie Klassen novel - my highest form of praise.

This felt authentic regency. The author very much did her research.

I understand this was her first novel and I hope there are more coming after this.

My favorite part was the very end - here is the rest of the story where she told us what happened next and how things finished for the characters.
