I enjoyed it, especially since I love trying mystery thrillers. However, it felt similar to other thrillers I’ve read, with a familiar concept and a fairly predictable twist. That said, the narration was excellent and really brought the story to life!

Kath trusts her husband, Gary, but should she? Everything was fine between them until his sister moved in. Now, someone is causing trouble for Kath, and there's something strange happening between Gary and his sister Lisa.
I enjoyed listening to this story; the twists were fun even if they were a bit predictable. The ending didn’t wow me, but I still liked the book.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the free copy of the book.

Thank you Netgalley, Wendy Clarke and Bookouture audio for the audio Arc of Make Yourself at Home.
This is my first book by Wendy Clarke and enjoyed it from beginning to end! This is a fast paced domestic psychological thriller as we follow Lisa and Gary, who seem very happy. Until Gary's estranged Sister turns up. The writing is both engaging and intriguing, keeping you guessing with the nicely placed twists and turns. The book seem to flow really well and before you know it, you are near the end. which makes this book a quick read. If you pay attention, there is some nice foreshadowing which may ( ir maybe not!) lead you through the plot twists. The finale was well executed so I'll be looking for more of Wendy Clarkes books in the future.
4 stars

Catherine and Gary were both trained as teachers but Gary has since taken a different job. Catherine works with level 11 students, teaching English, and she absolutely loves it!
When asked to take on Lisa, a teacher in training, Cath happily accepts. Cath has come a long way over the years, successfully putting her troubled past behind her, and becoming a well respected teacher.
When Cath discovers Lisa has been kicked out of her house and is sleeping at the school, she can’t help but feel sorry for the young teacher. And when Cath’s husband Gary shows up at her school, they’re all shocked when it turns out Lisa is Gary’s half sister! Knowing that, Catherine offers Lisa to stay with them which upsets Gary for some reason.
While dealing with her guest, whom she also works with, the worst parts of Cath’s past come back to haunt her. Her car is burned in the school parking lot; someone leaves a lighter on the steps of her home; a video of her burning car is sent to her; and someone writes “murderer” on her rental car, again in the school parking lot.
As life at school and home becomes more stressful, Cath feels her choices are limited; she decides to meet the father and mother-in-law she’s never met to figure out why things are so strained between her husband and her house guest. But what she discovers does more harm than good. Someone is lying to Catherine and someone is determine to destroy her. Can Catherine trust anyone? And if so, who?
I adore audiobooks and am always so appreciative of a wonderful narrator who can bring the story to life like this one! She did a wonderful job breathing life into the characters!
Thank you NetGalley, Wendy Clarke, and Bookouture for gifting me a copy of the ARC in exchange for a review.

Cath is doing great at her job, on her way to the promotion she has been working hard for. That is, until Lisa enters her life and her home.
If you want a book to keep you guessing then this is ideal! I changed my mind on so many different occasions, and even though at times, I thought it was a little predictable, it did not take away from the explosive ending!
I found the character development left you feeling like the characters could be people you would encounter in real life and the story itself was also, believable too, adding to the suspense.
My first audiobook and I loved it!
The short chapters made it fast paced and the constant twists made it easy to listen to and kept me gripped and interested.

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
✨ twisted ending with who to trust, drama and domestic thriller.
✨ this book is quite fast paced so it’s lighter for someone who is not used to reading thriller.
Now who to trust? Just one click away of having a perfect life a sudden sister in law came in the picture that no one knows about .
Interesting on how her ‘sister’ ended up working on the same school she work at and even her husband parents doesn’t even know her? Like what is happening?
✨ I enjoyed the book as it was light and easy. Definitely recommend✨

Make Yourself at Home by Wendy Clarke and narrated by Lucy Paterson was an utterly unputdownable and twisty psychological thriller. I was hooked at the beginning. This audiobook was face-paced especially as it was full of twists and turns throughout and I found it hard to stop listening to.
A Great holiday listen especially if you are lying by the pool or on a beach somewhere warm enjoying the atmosphere of your holiday.
I highly recommend it
The narrator Lucy Paterson was excellent for this audiobook.
Big Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Bookouture Audio for my ARC.

A teacher and her husband live a somewhat monotone life. A young teacher becomes the wife’s protege and when she finds out not only is she homeless, but also her husband’s estranged stepsister she invites her to live with them. Well it all goes downhill from there ;) Easy mystery read.

Cath is living the life she has always wanted- she has the job she loves as a teacher, with hopes for a promising promotion; she has a lovely home and is married to the man who saved her from herself. This idyllic life begins to show holes when she invites her sister-in-law, Lisa, to move in with her and Gary. It soon becomes clear that there are things about Gary's past that she is unaware of, but delving into his past means exposing her secrets. Wendy Clarke knows how to keep the reader on the edge of their seat, and the twist at the end is entirely unexpected.

This book was a wild ride! Cath and Gary have a good life, enjoying their marriage and careers. Gary's sister, Lisa, starts working at the school where Cath works. Soon after, Lisa says she has nowhere to live and Cath lets her stay with her and Gary. Gary starts acting weird, and Cath is receiving these weird notes. Who is sending the notes? Why is Gary acting weird?
I had no idea where this story was headed. I was left guessing and had multiple wrong theories. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something else happened to prove me wrong. I doubted myself over and over again, and I wasn't sure who to trust. There was great tension buildup in the plot, and I enjoyed listening on the edge of my seat.
There were twists and turns throughout along with lies, betrayal, and secrets. I was so anxious to get to the end, and the ending pulled everything together so well. The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

*Make Yourself at Home* by Wendy Clarke is a gripping psychological thriller that explores trust, secrets, and the complexities of family dynamics. The story follows a woman whose seemingly perfect life begins to unravel when her sister-in-law, Lisa, moves in. As Lisa reveals unsettling truths about her brother, the protagonist is forced to confront her husband's hidden past and her own dark secrets. Clarke masterfully weaves suspense and emotional depth, creating a narrative filled with unexpected twists and turns. This novel is a rollercoaster ride of tension and intrigue, perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell and Shari Lapena.

This reminded me of a Lisa Jewel book mixed with a Freida McFadden book. Solid domestic thriller and pretty twisty.
3.75/5

A fast paced, highly gripping book that kept me on the edge of my seat. I read this book in one sitting because I just couldn't read it fast enough. From the get go, I suspected the sister of something sinister and as the book progressed, I was trying to piece together all of the "coincidences'. A true whodunit and I didn't trust anyone! I really felt the sibling connection and love for her brother Aled and the survivors guilt she felt. I highly recommend this book to anyone craving a fast paced twisty book. I enjoyed this book so much I even listened to the Audiobook version which added even more character with the wonderful narrators voice.

Really great thriller. I found myself questioning, “how DO you really know someone?” The secrets and major twists by Wendy Clarke kept me hooked the entire time! With ever new detail, I had to reassess my theory - which I LOVED! It was easy to follow and well-written. The narration was fabulous and added so much to the story. I absolutely recommend this for fans of fast-paced thrillers! It kept me on my on toes for sure!

From page one, I was hooked. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, the story threw me for a loop—again and again. Clarke knows how to keep you on edge, mixing suspense, paranoia, and jaw-dropping twists that had me questioning everything.
The surprises just kept coming, and I couldn’t put this book down. One reveal totally blindsided me (in the best way), and I love when a thriller actually catches me off guard. I switched between the audiobook and e-book, and the narration made it even more intense.
Dark, twisty, and impossible to predict—this one’s a must-read!

Catherine seems to be headed for trouble right out of the gate as it's clear she's hiding some things from her past. But she definitely isn't the only one in her little circle of family and friends doing the same thing. And it will all come crashing down...but who will be the culprit? Secrets will be revealead and revenge will be attempted, at least. The story was a little slow in rolling, although it appeared that it was going to come to a head any minute. There are a couple of twists, especially at the end, but not entirely unexpected.
I did think the narrator did a fantastic job, actually. Lucy Patterson captured characters of different ages and genders flawlessly.
I love Bookouture audiobooks and will always be looking for the next one!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARL. All opinions are mine.

This Book was amazing. Wendy is a new author for me, but i went in excited to get something different. I've been in a readers slump and this truly got me out.
From Start to finish I couldn't stop listening. When I tell you I was listening at work, and the day I decided to listen to the book everybody wants to talk to me or some type of problem was going on.
But I knew something was up with her being the Half sister. I couldn't figure out the plot twist so at one point, I just said I'm along for the ride, and I'm glad that I was. Definitely recommend this listen/read. I struggled with the narrators voice, sometimes it's hard for me with the accents, but that's the only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars. But it was definitely good. I need the physical copy to put on my book shelf. Wendy did such an amazing Job. I can't wait to read more from her.

This book had me hooked until the end. I knew there was something wrong with the half-sister, but could not figure it out. I really endjoyed how Wendy Clarke ended the book as well; no loose ends or stones left unturned.

This psychological thriller delivers a dramatic plot based in an English secondary school.
Ambitious English teacher, Cath, lives with husband Gary in relative harmony despite his resentment of the time Cath devotes to her career. Lisa, a young probationary teacher at the school drops the bombshell that she is Gary’s long lost half sister, and finding herself in need of accommodation, moves in with Cath and Gary. Cath notices with some alarm that Gary can barely be civil towards her and this throws up all sorts of questions for Cath, particularly as the timing coincides with Cath herself receiving some hostile communications alluding to some secrets from her own mysterious past….
This is an interesting story with multiple suspects and multiple crimes! It is well written and narrated expertly from the perspective of Cath.
Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend the audiobook to fellow fans of this genre.
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

Thank you netgalley for the advanced audiobook copy of this book! Who doesn’t love a good ol evil sister in law story! 🤣 I quite enjoyed this read. Several times I thought I knew where this was going but was surprised. Ultimately I guessed the ending but it was still a fun ride!
