Well, this was a very short excerpt—not even a full chapter. It ends in the middle of the action.
I will read the book because I liked The Wolf Den, but I can’t understand why the excerpt isn't a full chapter.

A big fan of Harper’s work. This sample throws you right into an action packed scene.
Loved this excerpt, can’t wait to read the full book.

Ahhhh I couldn't be more excited for this now and it was already one of my most anticipated reads of the year.
I loved Elodie Harper's writing in The Wolf Den trilogy. And this was no different. It's so visual and this small extract throws you straight into the action. I was instantly hooked and desperate to know what happens next.
My only complaint is how am I going to be able to wait until August to read the rest!

Although only 8 pages, the excerpt has definitely piqued my interest. Looking forward to diving into the complete book.

I am so intrigued already. I loved the wolf den trilogy so I am very excited for this book! Hooked from the extract!

Thank you to Netgalley, Head of Zeus and Elodie Harper for this extract.
YES, YES, YES PLEASE!
What I would give to have a copy of this book in my hands to devour!
Fingers crossed I can get an opportunity to read the ARC but regardless, I will be first in line to buy it when its released in Australia.

There’s one 2025 book I’m particularly psyched about and it’s Boudicca’s Daughter by @elodielharper. I’ve been semi-obsessively checking @netgalley for ARCs and what I finally found is an excerpt. While I’m nervous that this means there won’t be full ARCs, no matter, I guess I’d just have to wait for it to come out on shelves like the rest of the world (boo).
Pleased to say the excerpt doesn’t disappoint, showing that one thing the story will delve into is the difference between who Boudicca was as a leader versus who she was as a mother.
Check it out and lmk what you think! #BoudiccasDaughter #boudicca #celthistory #ancientfiction #romanfiction #romans #historicalfiction #2025books #2025titles #elodieharper #bookexcerpt #netgalley

I NEED TO READ THIS WHOLE BOOK!! Boudicca is a baddass and I need to hear more of her daughters - i know the rest will be epic

So excited to read an extract of @elodielharper new book being released in August. The extract is taken from the point where Boudicca’s forces are about to torch London and reveal that both of her daughters, Solina and Bellenia are becoming disillusioned with the initial cause. Battle weary and not recognising either their mother or why the army is behaving the way it is, the Celtic people seem to be disuniting just when they need to be a solid force. The writing was fabulous, rich and exciting just like Wolf Den and I cannot wait to read more when it’s released.
Thank you to @netgalley and @headofzeus for the extract! Out August 2025.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the partial arc of Boudicca's Daughter. This was just a short extract, a few pages from what appears to be chapter 13 of the novel, but I thoroughly enjoyed them.
The author, Elodie Harper, created a strong atmosphere full of tension. Even though I was jumping straight into chapter 13, I was immediately hooked (rather than just confused, as you might expect!).
I've read a lot of fictional retellings of Boudicca's story. One thing I really appreciated about this extract is the nuances that Harper brought to it. It's hard to tell from just a few pages, but I got the sense that in this novel, characters aren't just good or bad. They are complex. Similarly, winning battles isn't always a cause for celebration.
Harper's description was also delightful. The only thing I personally disliked was how often her characters shouted their dialogue, but I'm going to give this extract the benefit of the doubt and assume that it was just a very shout-y couple of scenes.
Like many historical novels, this extract was a first-person narrative with a strong internal monologue. I personally enjoy this, but I want to highlight it because I know it's not to everyone's tastes.

Wow, I can't wait to read this book if the extract is anything to go by!
It might be only one chapter but it has me wanting to read more. Thank you publishers, what a carrot to dangle!

What an intriguing premise for Elodie Harper's new book. Boudica's daughter's view of the famous historical events promises to make us think again about this episode in Rome's conquest of Britain. Beautifully written, as you'd expect, this extract has only made me long even more for the full book.
If you want to be excited - and wickedly teased - read this extract. But be warned: you'll want more.

This is a review of an extract from Elodie Harper’s upcoming book, Boudicca’s Daughter.
This extract is slightly difficult to review as it drops the reader into a world we haven’t been introduced to, so it took a few pages to find my footing with the location and time period. That said, the extract did a good job of showing Solina’s character whilst giving us some interesting action. Of what I read in these few pages, the dialogue was what I enjoyed the most and found most interesting
I’m intrigued by what I’ve read and will definitely pick up the full book to see where this story goes.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the Arc.

Very intrigued by this extract! It’s a short scene but it packs in so much, I’m particularly interested in the character dynamics; between the sisters and also between their mother and uncle. I liked the differing points of view the sisters had regarding the war being waged. I also liked the atmospheric descriptions and the heightening tension.
I’d love to read the full version and have a grasp of the political machinations and character development. Many thanks for the opportunity to read the extract.

Thank you to Netgalley and Head of Zeus for this extract from Elodie Harper's upcoming Boudicca's Daughter.
I absolutely loved the Wolf Den trilogy so, when I heard there was an extract available I logged on so quickly to get it.
The extract is a short chapter -it was only about 8 pages if I recall correctly but, I can tell the book is going to be fantastic. Elodie has a true talent with immersing one in the POV character's mind including what the environment around them would entail.
I will be buying a copy come August 28th!

This is a review of the first chapter of Boudicca's Daughter.
An excellent start to what I am sure will be another terrific novel from Elodie Harper. I loved the Wolf Den series. Harper writes so well about the past and does a terrific job of showing the often forgotten female point of view, Can't wait to read this.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

I only received an extract for this novel. I’m so excited for this book! Boudicca’s story told through her daughter’s eyes? Genius. Elodie Harper’s writing is vivid and immersive—you can feel the grit of battle, the hunger in the camps, and the weight of history. If the full book is as layered and gripping as this excerpt, we’re in for something special. Can’t wait to dive into the full story when it’s out!

A stunning piece of literary fiction that will pull on your heart strings and make you question so many truths. A powerful read.

Elodie Harper? You have indeed done it again! I met her in person at an event she was moderating. I can't wait until we get the full book!

I didn't realise this was only an extract but it was so good! I now need to read the rest. I love Boudica, she has been a form favourite for me ever since I learned about her when I was little.
They taught us a song about her and till this day i remember it!
I cannot wait to read more!
